Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects more than 10% of the global population. As kidney function negatively correlates with the presence of interstitial fibrosis, the development of new anti-fibrotic therapies holds promise to stabilize functional decline in CKD patients. The goal of the study was to generate a scalable bioprinted 3-dimensional kidney tubulo-interstitial disease model of kidney fibrosis.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have significantly improved the five-year survival rate for advanced melanoma. However, many patients exhibit resistance to ICI therapy. This study evaluated the efficacy and prognostic factors of anti-PD-1 (Group A) and nivolumab-ipilimumab (Group B) therapy in patients with advanced melanoma who were resistant to prior ICI therapy.

Background: Recurrent infections of the nose, sinuses and ears are common problems for people with primary ciliary dyskinesia. While pulmonary exacerbations in primary ciliary dyskinesia are defined, there is no definition for ear-nose-throat exacerbations, a potential outcome for research and clinical trials.
Methods: We set up an expert panel of 24 ear-nose-throat specialists, respiratory physicians, other healthcare professionals and patients to develop consensus definitions of sinonasal and otological exacerbations in children and adults with primary ciliary dyskinesia for research settings.

Clinical trials in oncology are important tools to identify and establish new effective drugs for cancer treatment. Since the development of the concept of precision oncology, a huge number of multi-centric biomarker-driven clinical trials have been performed and promoted by either academic institutions or pharmaceutical companies. In this scenario, the role of pathologists is essential in multiple aspects, with new challenges that should be addressed.

Although guidelines strongly recommend low levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), these goals are not achieved in many patients. We present expert recommendations for the in-hospital and post-discharge management of lipid-lowering therapy in ACS patients in Türkiye. A group of expert cardiologists comprising members of the Turkish Society of Cardiology and leading lipidologists who have all worked in national cardiology lipid working groups for at least 4 years, considered the optimal approach to lipid management in ACS patients in Türkiye, taking into account Turkish healthcare infrastructure and issues from real-world practice.

Introduction: Prolonged seizures cause cytotoxic edema and increase intracranial pressure. Optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) and its ratio to eyeball transverse diameter (ONSD/ETD) offer a noninvasive method for monitoring intracranial pressure changes. We calculated the ONSD and ONSD/ETD ratio of postictal children using computed tomography and evaluated the relationship between those values and seizure duration.

Failure of immunotherapy in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients represents an unmet need to augment leverage of adaptive immunity. Immunogenic cancer-testis antigen (CTA) expression as well as lymphocyte differentiation and function are regulated by DNA methylation. Therefore, epigenetic therapy via inhibition of DNA-Methyltransferases by 5-Aza-2'-deoxycytidine (DAC) serves a promising adjuvant in immunotherapy.
