Introduction: The aim was to evaluate the effect of preoperative anxiety on the sympathetic block that developed after spinal anesthesia and therefore the duration of motor and sensory blockade.
Materials And Methods: After the approval of the ethics committee, 90 patients between the ages of 18 and 55 years who were to be operated under spinal anesthesia were included in the study. Preoperative anxiety of the patients was evaluated with the Spielberger trait and State Anxiety Scale and Visual Analog Scale (VAS).

Atrial fibrillation (AF) poses substantial challenges in cardiovascular diseases, impacting patient health and economic burdens. Understanding the mechanical effects of AF on the left atrium (LA) and assessing the influence of treatment modalities on LA functions are critical. This study aims to assess the efficacy of echocardiographic and biochemical parameters in predicting AF recurrence following second generation cryoballoon ablation (CB-2).

The aim of this study was to evaluate the antibiotic resistance of microorganisms isolated in cases of culture-positive nosocomial late-onset neonatal sepsis in the neonatal intensive care unit. Infants admitted to our neonatal intensive care unit between October 2015 and June 2022 were retrospectively screened. A total of 458 different cultures from 386 sepsis incidents in 250 infants were analyzed.

Background: Diabetes foot infection is a very important public health problem that causes serious health problems, mortality, and high health expenditures, and is one of the most important complications of diabetes mellitus. There are concerns that approaches such as limited personal visits to doctors, avoidance of hospitals, and restrictions on nonemergency surgical procedures during the coronavirus disease of 2019 pandemic pose a threat to those with diabetic foot problems, including diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs), ischemia, and infection, resulting in increased limb loss and mortality.
Methods: This multicenter, retrospective, cross-sectional study was conducted in 14 tertiary care hospitals from various regions of Turkey.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the acute effects of motor imagery-based physical activity on maternal well-being, maternal blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, fetal heart rate, and uterine contractions in women with high-risk pregnancies.
Methods: This randomized controlled trial was conducted in Izmir Tepecik Education and Research Hospital from August 2023 to January 2024. Seventy-six women with high-risk pregnancies were randomized into two groups: a motor imagery group (n = 38, diaphragmatic-breathing exercise and motor imagery-based physical activity) and a control group (n = 38, diaphragmatic-breathing exercise).

This study investigates the automated detection of enchondromas, benign cartilage tumors, from x-ray images using deep learning techniques. Enchondromas pose diagnostic challenges due to their potential for malignant transformation and overlapping radiographic features with other conditions. Leveraging a data set comprising 1645 x-ray images from 1173 patients, a deep-learning model implemented with Detectron2 achieved an accuracy of 0.

Background: Major histocompatibility complex class II deficiency, a combined immunodeficiency, results from loss of HLA class II expression on antigen-presenting cells. Currently, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation stands as the sole curative approach, although factors influencing patient outcomes remain insufficiently explored.
Objectives: To elucidate the clinical, immunologic, and genetic profiles associated with MHC-II deficiency and identify prognostic indicators that affect survival rates.

Background: The use of high-sensitivity troponin levels increases the sensitivity of the diagnosis of non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). However, the inclusion of other factors in the differential diagnosis, apart from atherothrombosis causing myocardial injury, decreases the specificity of high-sensitivity troponin. In this study, we compared the efficacy of high-sensitivity troponin with serum oncostatin M in NSTEMI cases with elevated urea and creatinine.

Purpose: Deficiency of stromal interaction molecule 1 (STIM1) results in combined immunodeficiency accompanied by extra-immunological findings like enamel defects and myopathy. We here studied a patient with a STIM1 loss-of-function mutation who presented with severe lymphoproliferation. We sought to explore the efficacy of the mTOR inhibitor rapamycin in controlling disease manifestations and reversing aberrant T-cell subsets and functions, which has never been used previously in this disorder.

Autosomal dominant sensorineural hearing loss (ADSNHL) is a genetically heterogeneous disorder caused by pathogenic variants in various genes, including MYH14. However, the interpretation of pathogenicity for MYH14 variants remains a challenge due to incomplete penetrance and the lack of functional studies and large families. In this study, we performed exome sequencing in six unrelated families with ADSNHL and identified five MYH14 variants, including three novel variants.

Background: The American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Hallux Metatarsophalangeal-Interphalangeal (AOFAS Hallux MTP-IP) scale is one of the most widely used outcome measures to evaluate hallux pathologies. This study aimed to translate the AOFAS Hallux MTP-IP scale into Turkish and investigate its psychometric properties.
Methods: The psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the AOFAS Hallux MTP-IP (AOFAS Hallux MTP-IP-T) scale were tested in 66 patients with hallux pathologies (52 women; mean age, 47.
