Analysis of amputations occurring in the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş: Adıyaman experience.

Purpose: Amputations are a common surgical procedure resulting from trauma during earthquakes, leading to severe disability. This study aims to investigate surgical outcomes specific to amputations that occurred in Adıyaman after the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes.

Methods: This descriptive study included amputees who presented to Adıyaman University Training and Research Hospital.

Emotions reflected in colours: experiences of nursing students during the COVID-19 period.

Background: The aim of this study was to identify nursing students' fears and emotions and to concretise the metaphors they used to describe their feelings towards the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: This study was conducted with nursing students at a foundation university between December 2021 and February 2022 using a sequential mixed methods research design. In the quantitative part of the study, 323 nursing students answered the 'Positive and Negative Emotion Scale' and the 'COVID-19 Fear Scale'.

Increased Hyperactivity with Decreased Parental Perceived Social Support Among Turkish Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder during Coronavirus Disease 2019 Pandemic.

Objective: The aim of the present study is to investigate the change in emotional/behavioral problems of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and the perceived social support of parents during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Methods: A total of 51 children with ASD aged between 6 and 18 years took part in the study. The Aberrant Behavior Checklist (ABC), the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) were used to evaluate ASD symptoms, emotional/behavioral problems, and perceived social support, respectively.

The Role of Self-Compassion and Social Anxiety in the Relationship Between Cognitive Distortions and Emotional Eating.

This study aimed to examine the mediating role of self-compassion and social anxiety in the relationship between cognitive distortions and emotional eating. The research was carried out on 406 adult individuals between the ages of 18-25 living in different regions of Turkey. To measure research variables, Liebowitz social anxiety, thought types, self-sensitivity, and Turkish emotional eating scale were used.

Effect of three different exercise trainings on functional capacity in early stage severe burn patients: A randomized controlled trial.

Background: This study investigated the effects of three different exercise protocols on functional capacity in early-stage burn patients.

Methods: A total of 25 patients hospitalized in the Burn Center (wards and intensive care unit) were included in the study. The individuals were divided into three groups by covariate adaptive randomization according to burn percentage and type: 1 - standard treatment, 2 - standard treatment + aerobic exercise training, 3 - standard treatment + combined exercise (aerobic and resistance) determined by metabolic status.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the developmental potential of immature oocytes and evaluate whether unstimulated in vitro maturation (IVM) could serve as a treatment option for women with oocyte maturation abnormalities (OMAs).

Material And Methods: This cohort study was conducted between September 2019 and December 2022, and included women who underwent unstimulated, non-human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) priming IVM. Oocytes were incubated with IVM medium for 26-48 hours and evaluated to compare their maturation profiles with the immature oocytes retrieved from the same patients in their previous in vitro fertilization cycles.

The Advancement of Waterjet-Guided Laser Cutting System for Enhanced Surface Quality in AISI 1020 Steel Sheets.

This study investigates the effects of a water-guided laser on the cutting performance of AISI 1020 steel sheets of various thicknesses by comparing the results with respect to a conventional laser. For this purpose, a novel nozzle design has been devised enabling the delivery of laser beams to the workpiece conventionally as well as through water guidance. Diverging from prior literature, a fiber laser is used with a high wavelength and a laser power output of 1 kW.

From Waste to Consumption: Tomato Peel Flour in Hamburger Patty Production.

Tomato is a widely cultivated crop and its processing produces large quantities of wastes, such as pulp, seed, and peel. In recent years, the valorization of these wastes in the production of high-value-added food products has gained popularity in achieving environmental sustainability and zero waste. From this viewpoint, dried tomato peel (DTP-1%, 2%, 3%, 4%) flour was included in hamburger formulations.

Thiram Determination in Milk Samples by Surface Plasmon Resonance Based on Molecularly Imprinted Polymers and Sulphur-Doped Titanium Dioxide.

In this work, a new surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor based on sulphur-doped titanium dioxide (S-TiO) nanostructures and molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was presented for thiram (THI) determination in milk samples. Firstly, the S-TiO nanomaterial with a high product yield was prepared by using a facile sol-gel hydrolysis technique with a high product yield. After that, UV polymerization was carried out for the preparation of the THI-imprinted SPR chip based on S-TiO using a mixture including ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the cross-linker, N,N'-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as the initiator, and methacryloylamidoglutamicacid (MAGA) as the monomer.

Effectiveness of the transitional care model in total knee arthroplasty patients: A randomized controlled trial.

Aim: This study has aimed to assess the effectiveness of the transitional care model (TCM) on functional status, perceived self-efficacy and healthcare utilization in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

Method: This randomized controlled study was conducted between February and November 2021 in a public hospital. The study randomly assigned patients to either a 6-week 'TCM' program or usual care.

Primary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a life-threatening disorder associated with autosomal recessive variants in genes required for perforin-mediated lymphocyte cytotoxicity. A rapid diagnosis is crucial for successful treatment. Although defective cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) function causes pathogenesis, quantification of natural killer (NK)-cell exocytosis triggered by K562 target cells currently represents a standard diagnostic procedure for primary HLH.

Cultural humility among nursing students in a multicultural setting.

Background: Given the importance of cultural diversity in healthcare, the shift from "cultural competence" to "cultural humility" has become crucial. This transition is particularly relevant for nursing students in multiethnic regions, such as Southeastern Anatolia, Turkey, where diverse cultural interactions can significantly impact their professional development and practice.

Objective: This study was conducted to determine the cultural humility levels of nursing students.

Effect of aerobic exercise on neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio, platelet-lymphocyte ratio, and lymphocyte-monocyte ratio in burn patients: A randomized controlled trial.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the effects of aerobic exercises in addition to standard treatment on parameters such as neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and lymphocyte-monocyte ratio (LMR) in patients with burns.

Methods: A total of 31 hospitalized patients included in the study were divided into two groups using covariate adaptive randomization method according to burn percentage and burn type (1st:standard treatment, 2nd: standard treatment + aerobic training). NLR, PLR, and LMR were evaluated for 5 weeks in all groups.

Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the steps of a training program utilizing Head-Mounted Display (HMD) based Virtual Reality Technology to enhance nursing students' skills in surgical hand scrubbing, wearing surgical cap and surgical mask, gowning and gloving, and to evaluate students' perceptions toward the program.

Methods: The study aimed to investigate the potential applications of HMD-Based Virtual Reality Technology in Surgical Hand Scrubbing, Wearing Surgical Cap and Surgical Mask, Gowning and Gloving Program for nursing students, as well as students' perceptions toward this technology. The research was conducted with a focus group consisting of second-year nursing students in Osmaniye/Turkey, between January and June 2022, and the training program was implemented in five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation.

New method for autonomous learning of BLS psychomotor skills: Pillow mannequin: Randomized controlled study.

Background: Evidence supporting the benefits of autonomous learning of basic life support, such as rapid outcomes and cost-effectiveness, is increasing. Reports supporting the autonomous learning of cognitive skills in basic life support exist. However, there is currently no report supporting the autonomous learning of psychomotor skills in basic life support.

Ecological security and agricultural production in the Arab League: Is financial development moderating the interaction?

The jeopardizing of ecological security due to the detrimental effects of human activities necessitates the adoption of various actions to reduce ecological intensity. Though some studies have explored the moderating impact of financial development (FND) towards achieving ecological security, in Arab World it has not been thoroughly investigated. Against this backdrop, we investigate combined role of agricultural production (AFP), gross domestic product (GDP), energy consumption, population, direct and moderating impacts of FND on ecological intensity for a panel of 12 Arab League member states from 1995 to 2021.

Effectiveness of a home exercise program when added to a conventional physiotherapy program in patients with temporomandibular disorders: A comparative study.
