Objective: Angiotropism/perivascular invasion (PVI) is an emerging topic in various types of cancer, with studies primarily focusing on melanoma. However, limited data are available on the significance of PVI in breast cancer. This study aimed to assess the prognostic significance of PVI in breast cancer and its correlation with traditional clinicopathological prognostic parameters.

Association of trabecular bone score corrected for tissue thickness with glucose metabolism in acromegaly.

Introduction: Acromegaly is associated with increased vertebral fracture (VF) risk regardless of bone mineral density (BMD). However, the vertebral trabecular compartment is still low; a possible contributor to this may be impaired glucose metabolism (GM) which frequently complicates acromegaly. Additionally, soft tissue thickness may confound bone imaging in acromegaly patients.

Three-Year Assault Cases Performed on the Emergency Trauma Center.

Objective: This study aims to compare the results of cases with a history of assault presented to our emergency department over a period of three years with literature data and to share our experiences with colleagues.

Methods: Demographic characteristics, trauma findings, clinical conditions, surgical interventions, mortality, and outcomes of patients with a history of assault to the emergency department between 2020 and 2022 were retrospectively examined. The results were analyzed using the Number Cruncher Statistical System 2007 Statistical Software package program (Utah, USA).

An obturator hernia (OH) is a rare type of hernia that accounts for a very small proportion of all hernias and cases of small bowel obstruction. This condition predominantly affects older, underweight individuals, with the vast majority of patients being women. Laparotomy with simple suture closure of the defect is commonly used as surgical treatment for OH.

Avulsion of the Flexor Digitorum Profundus Tendon During the Curettage of a Recurrent Enchondroma: A Case Report.

Enchondroma rarely occurs in the distal phalanx, and avulsion of the flexor digitorum profundus (FDP) tendon in this area is also rare. We report a case of recurrent enchondroma in the distal phalanx, which required reconstruction for an accidental FDP avulsion during surgery. A 36-year-old right-handed woman visited our hospital with a suspected recurrence of enchondroma and a planned surgery.

Cutaneous Metastasis of Bladder Cancer: A Systematic Review.

Delayed Contrast Medium Excretion Due to Renal Failure After an Emergency Mechanical Thrombectomy for Acute Cerebral Infarction.

We report a case in which mechanical thrombectomy (MT) was performed on a patient with cerebral infarction and renal failure, and contrast leakage remained on postoperative head computed tomography (CT) scans for more than 24 hours. A 75-year-old woman with a medical history of chronic renal failure due to diabetic nephropathy was admitted to the cardiology department of our hospital with chronic heart failure. During hospitalization, her diabetic nephropathy worsened.

The Effect of Intradermal Injection with Two Different Injection Techniques on Pain and Functional Status in Patients with Chronic Nonspecific Neck Pain.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of different mesotherapy techniques applied at various dermal depths on pain, functional status, and quality of life in patients with non-specific neck pain.

Methods: A total of 43 patients who received mesotherapy for non-specific neck pain were retrospectively analyzed. Patients treated with the point-by-point technique (n=21) and the napaj technique (n=22) were recorded.

Objective: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a prominent public health concern, is defined as functional and structural damage to the kidneys. In this study, we investigated the measurable residual leukemic stem cell (MR-LSC) population after allogeneic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT) for high-risk acute myeloid leukemia (AML), utilizing T-cell immunoglobulin mucin-3 (TIM-3) expression as a functional marker of AML leukemic stem cells (LSCs). Analysis of the CD34CD38 fraction of bone marrow cells immediately after achievement of engraftment revealed the presence of both TIM-3LSCs and TIM-3 donor hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) at varying ratios. Genetic analysis confirmed that TIM-3 cells harbored patient-specific mutations identical to those found in AML clones, whereas TIM-3 cells did not, indicating that TIM-3CD34CD38 cells represent residual AML LSCs.

Developing standards for the implementation of stepped care in child and youth mental health service settings: protocol for a multi-method, delphi-based study.

Introduction: Canadian youth mental health (YMH) systems have the potential to urgently tackle the mental health treatment gap currently impacting young people, and stepped care (SC) is one model that can address this need. The adoption of SC models can guide the development of better-connected YMH systems by simplifying transitions and care pathways. To do so requires robust standards that are co-created across stakeholder groups, including with lived experience experts, to ensure the effective implementation of SC models.

Urinary fatty acid-binding protein 4 is a promising biomarker for glomerular damage in patients with diabetes mellitus.

Aims/introduction: Fatty acid-binding protein (FABP) 4, which acts as an adipokine secreted by adipocytes, macrophages, and capillary endothelial cells, is expressed in injured glomerular cells. It has been reported that urinary (U-) FABP4 is associated with renal dysfunction and proteinuria in several glomerular kidney diseases. However, the clinical significance of U-FABP4 in diabetic kidney disease (DKD) remains undetermined.

The Effect of Modafinil Treatment on Cravings in Methamphetamine Use Disorder.

There is a need for treatments that can reduce cravings in methamphetamine use disorder (MUD), which is trending upwards worldwide. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of modafinil treatment on substance craving in patients with MUD. The study included 100 patients with MUD who were being treated in an inpatient detoxification center.

We have been exploring biomarkers that could help physicians select the appropriate opioid for individualized treatment of cancer pain. Recently, we identified a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of (rs17809012) as one such biomarker that was significantly associated with the analgesic effect of morphine. The current study measured the plasma concentrations of chemokines/cytokines in pre-treatment plasma samples of a total of 138 patients who were randomized to receive morphine (n=70) or oxycodone (n=68).
