Analysis of Patients with Urethral Stricture in Kidney Transplant Recipients.

Background: We aimed to assess the rates of urethral stricture in transplant recipients, analyse patients with urethral strictures and present the posttreatment follow-up outcomes.

Methods: Between 2004 and 2023, a retrospective examination was conducted on kidney transplant recipients who underwent removal of ureteral catheters through retrograde cystoscopy at our facility or referred from external centres. The collected data encompassed patient demographics, pre- and posttransplant maximum urinary flow rate, specifics of stenosis, surgical interventions and outcomes from a 1-year follow-up.

AST/ALT ratio as a potential predictor of 1-year mortality in elderly patients operated for femoral neck fracture.

Purpose: Hip fractures in elderly individuals are associated with high mortality rates, even with advanced treatment options. Identifying factors correlated with mortality could guide potential preventive strategies. Elevated aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels, as well as the AST/ALT ratio (AAR), have been associated with mortality in various diseases, but their association with hip fracture mortality remains underexplored.

Testing Machine Learning-Based Pain Assessment for Postoperative Geriatric Patients.

The global population is aging, and there is a concomitant increase in surgery for the elderly. In geriatric patients, where postoperative pain assessment is difficult, technological tools that perform automatic pain assessment are needed to alleviate the workload of nurses and to accurately assess patients' pain. This study offers a more reliable and rapid assessment tool for assessing the pain of elderly patients undergoing surgery.

Long-Acting Injectable Antipsychotics in Adolescents with Bipolar Disorder.

Bipolar disorder often begins in adolescence or early adulthood, characterized by recurrent manic episodes that can lead to neurodegenerative brain changes and functional decline. While several oral second-generation antipsychotics are Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved for mania, adherence to maintenance treatment is frequently poor due to factors such as anosognosia, cognitive dysfunction, impulsivity, side effects aversion, and substance use. Long-acting injectable (LAI) antipsychotics, approved for adults with bipolar mania or schizoaffective disorder (bipolar type), offer a potential solution for adolescents with similar conditions.

This study was aimed to reach adult psychiatrists actively practicing in Turkey through an internet-based survey and to determine their practices and attitudes to MAP treatment.

[Multicentric Screening of Local Antibiotic Resistance in Uncomplicated Urinary System Infections: 1850 Patients from 37 Centers].

This study was aimed to identify the most frequently observed pathogens in uncomplicated urinary tract infections from outpatient urinary isolates obtained across seven different geographical regions in Türkiye and to determine whether the antibiotic resistance rates of these pathogens differ significantly between these regions. The study included patients aged 18 to 65 years who were diagnosed with uncomplicated urinary tract infections and had positive urine cultures from March 2021 to August 2022, across 37 different centers in Türkiye. The participating centers were selected based on their use of the disk diffusion method, in line with the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) guidelines, to ensure standardization of urine culture data.
