To advance the industrialization of flexible strain sensors, an innovative flexible sensing fiber was developed through a sophisticated wet spinning process. Silver trifluoroacetate (C2AgF3O2) and graphene oxide (GO) were combined with thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) to prepare the fibers via wet spinning. Ascorbic acid (L-AA) was used to in situ reduce the silver trifluoroacetate and graphene oxide within the polyurethane, causing the growth of silver nanoparticles to bond with reduced graphene oxide, forming a dual conductive pathway.

The processes of electrochemical deposition of Ni on vertically aligned GaAs nanowires (NWs) grown by molecular-beam epitaxy (MBE) using Au as a growth catalyst on Si(111) substrates were studied. Based on the results of electrochemical deposition, it was concluded that during the MBE synthesis of NWs the self-induced formation of conductive channels can occur inside NWs, thereby forming quasi core-shell nanowires. Depending on the length of the channel compare to the NW heights and the parameters of electrochemical deposition, the different hybrid metal-semiconductor nanostructures, such as Ni nanoparticles on GaAs NW side walls, Ni clusters on top ends of GaAs NWs, core-shell Ni/GaAs NWs, were obtained.

Quantum dots (QDs) have shown great application potential in a variety of optoelectronic devices due to their unique optoelectronic properties, especially playing a key role in the development of quantum dot converted light-emitting diodes (QD-LEDs). Inorganic ligands, including metal chalcogenides, oxoanions, halides, pseudohalides, and metal cations, play crucial roles in the synthesis, stabilization, and functionalization of QDs. Compared to long-chain organic ligands, inorganic ligands are shorter and possess higher electron mobility, which facilitates their application in high-performance QD-LEDs.

Analysis of Severe and Relapse Risks of Imported Malaria in Five Provinces of China.

Although China has achieved malaria elimination certification, the risk of malaria transmission reintroduction due to imported malaria remains. We analyzed data on imported malaria cases collected from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2021, using multivariable logistic regression analysis to identify the factors associated with severe and relapsing malaria. The odds of severe malaria were around 4-fold greater for patients who were initially diagnosed with a nonmalarial illness than for patients initially diagnosed with malaria.

Kaposi sarcoma is a low-grade vascular neoplasm linked to the human herpesvirus 8, with the AIDS-associated epidemic variant being the most common and aggressive. Although Kaposi sarcoma more commonly affects the cutaneous tissues, lymph nodes, and visceral organs, it can also be present in ocular and ocular adnexal tissues. We report a case of a 58-year-old Indo-Caribbean woman living with AIDS who presented with a large upper eyelid mass that was clinically diagnosed as Kaposi sarcoma.

We present the implementation of the time-domain multichromophoric fluorescence resonant energy transfer (TC-MCFRET) approach in the numerical integration of the Schrödinger equation (NISE) program. This method enables the efficient simulation of incoherent energy transfer between distinct segments within large and complex molecular systems, such as photosynthetic complexes. The formation of Lewy bodies (LB) is a pathological hallmark for synucleinopathies, which is an umbrella term for many diseases, including Parkinson's disease, Lewy body dementia, and multiple system atrophy. One of the main components of LB is the aggregates of phosphorylated modification of α-Synuclein at residue 129 (αS-129), a neuronal protein expressed in the dopaminergic neurons in the brain. There are equivocal results about the role of αS-129, suggesting its involvement in both potentiating pathology and a functional role to rescue pathology.

In this work, we carry out a systematic computer simulation investigation of the single particle dynamics at the free surface of imidazolium-based room temperature ionic liquids by applying intrinsic surface analysis.
