Background: The Danish clinical quality registries monitor and improve the quality of care, using quality indicators and defined development targets referred to as 'standards'. This study aims to investigate the fulfilment of standards in the Danish clinical quality registries in cancer care and screening.

Methods: Data was included from annual reports in the 27 Danish clinical quality registries in cancer care and screening.

Long-term efficacy and safety of sacral neuromodulation for diarrhoea-predominant and mixed irritable bowel syndrome.

Background: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a very common condition worldwide. Treatment options for severe IBS are few. Sacral neuromodulation (SNM) for patients with IBS has been shown to reduce symptoms and improve quality of life in the medium term.

Parental psychopathology before and after the child's diagnosis of a mental disorder: a population-based matched cohort study.

Background: More research is needed to understand psychopathology among parents of children with mental disorders in the years before and after the child is diagnosed. Here, we estimated the risk of mental disorders and psychotropic medication use in parents of children with versus without mental disorders and the temporal associations between child and parental psychopathology.

Methods: We conducted a population-based matched cohort study using Danish register data.

Comprehensive genomic characterization of early-stage bladder cancer.

Understanding the molecular landscape of nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) is essential to improve risk assessment and treatment regimens. We performed a comprehensive genomic analysis of patients with NMIBC using whole-exome sequencing (n = 438), shallow whole-genome sequencing (n = 362) and total RNA sequencing (n = 414). A large genomic variation within NMIBC was observed and correlated with different molecular subtypes.

Reliability of the OMERACT Giant cell arteritis Ultrasonography Score (OGUS): results of a patient-based exercise involving experts and non-experts in vascular ultrasonography.

Objective: To test the reliability of the Outcome Measures in Rheumatology Giant cell arteritis (GCA) Ultrasonography Score (OGUS) and other composite scores in a patient-based exercise involving experts and non-experts in vascular ultrasonography.

Methods: Six GCA patients were scanned twice (two rounds separated ≥3 hours) by 12 experts and 12 non-experts. Non-experts received 90 min of theoretical and 240 min of practical training between rounds 1 and 2.

Demographic and clinical impact on preoperative BREAST-Q ePROM completion and baseline outcomes in women undergoing breast cancer surgery: a quantitative descriptive study at a Danish university hospital.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate patients' use of electronic Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (ePROMs) and understand the demographic and clinical factors that may be correlated with patient responses to the BREAST-Q at the preoperative stage of breast cancer. The BREAST-Q is a PROM in questionnaire format, developed and validated to assess satisfaction and quality of life for breast surgery patients.The hypothesis tested is that considering disparities in geography, age and education among responders is essential for capturing a diverse patient population in future Patent-Reported Outcome Measures initiatives, examining how these characteristics are associated with Patent-Reported Outcome Measures utilisation and outcomes.

The Effectiveness of Video Animations as a Tool to Improve Health Information Recall for Patients: Systematic Review.

Background: Access to clear and comprehensible health information is crucial for patient empowerment, leading to improved self-care, adherence to treatment plans, and overall health outcomes. Traditional methods of information delivery, such as written documents and oral communication, often result in poor memorization and comprehension. Recent innovations, such as animation videos, have shown promise in enhancing patient understanding, but comprehensive investigations into their effectiveness across various health care settings are lacking.

Management of head and neck cancer of unknown primary: A phase IV study by DAHANCA.

Background: Diagnostic and therapeutic management of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma of unknown primary (HNSCCUP) remains a challenge. The aim of the present phase IV study was to assess adherence to the current Danish guidelines and evaluate the treatment outcome in HNSCCUP patients.

Migration and risk assessment of heavy metals from swine manure in an organic fertilizer - soil - ryegrass - rex rabbit system: Based on field trials.

Organic fertilizers were produced through maggot-composting (MC) and natural composting (NC) using swine manure, and the migration, contamination, and health risks of heavy metals (Zn, Cu, Cd, Cr, Pb) were evaluated within a fertilizer - soil - ryegrass - Rex rabbit system. After 70 days of treatment, heavy metals were concentrated by 43.23 % to 100 % in MC and 52.

Outcomes and complications of external ventricular drainage in primary and secondary intraventricular hemorrhage: a descriptive observational study.

Objective: Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) is a serious condition with high mortality rates and poor functional outcome in survivors. Treatment includes external ventricular drains (EVDs), which are associated with several complications. This study reports the clinical outcome and complication rate in patients with primary IVH (pIVH) and secondary IVH treated with EVDs.

Mental Disorders Among Offspring Prenatally Exposed to Systemic Glucocorticoids.

Importance: Current evidence of the association between prenatal exposure to glucocorticoids and long-term mental disorders is scarce and has limitations.

Objective: To investigate the association between prenatal exposure to systemic glucocorticoids and mental disorders in offspring at the age of 15 years, comparing exposed vs unexposed offspring born to mothers with the same underlying disease (risk of preterm delivery and autoimmune or inflammatory disorders).

Design, Setting, And Participants: This nationwide population-based cohort study used data from registries in Denmark with follow-up until December 31, 2018.

Prevalence and incidence of mastocytosis in adults: a Danish nationwide register study.

Mastocytosis is a group of rare heterogeneous diseases with a prevalence previously found to be 10-23 per 100,000 persons. More awareness and improvements in the diagnostic methods in later years have led to more patients being diagnosed. Here, we set out to present the prevalence and incidence rate of mastocytosis among the adult Danish population.

Background: SORL1 encodes the retromer-associated receptor SORLA that functions in endosomal recycling. Rare variants in SORL1 have been associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and rare pathogenic variants are estimated to occur in up to 2.75% of early onset AD patients and in 1.

Basic Science and Pathogenesis.

Background: The sortilin-related receptor 1 protein, SORL1, interacts with retromer to regulate trafficking of cargo out of the early endosome. Genetic variants in SORL1 that lead to a premature protein truncation (PTVs) are observed almost exclusively in Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients, suggesting SORL1's haploinsufficiency may be causal for AD. However, the large majority of SORL1 variants are rare missense variants which affect diverse structural domains, some of which may be causative for disease or (strongly) risk-increasing, while others are (likely) benign.

Background: Late Onset Alzheimer's Disease (LOAD) is the most common neurodegenerative disorder. Carriers of an ɛ4 allele of the apolipoprotein E gene (APOE) have significantly increased risk of developing LOAD. LOAD is also strongly sex biased.

Coronary revascularisation deferral based on quantitative flow ratio or fractional flow reserve: a post hoc analysis of the FAVOR III Europe trial.

Background: Safe deferral of revascularisation is a key aspect of physiology-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). While recent evidence gathered in the FAVOR III Europe trial showed that quantitative flow ratio (QFR) guidance did not meet non-inferiority to fractional flow reserve (FFR) guidance, it remains unknown if QFR might have a specific value in revascularisation deferral.

Aims: We aimed to evaluate the safety of coronary revascularisation deferral based on QFR as compared with FFR.

Invasive mechanical ventilation strategies, adjuvants treatments and adverse events among ICU patients with COVID-19 in Denmark.

Aim: To describe the use of invasive mechanical ventilation core strategies, adjuvant treatments and the occurrence of barotrauma and prolonged ventilation in ICU patients with COVID-19 in Denmark, retrospectively.

Methods: All ICUs admitting COVID-19 patients in Denmark from 10 March 2020 to 2 April 2021 were invited to participate. All patients with COVID-19 who received invasive mechanical ventilation were included and data was retrospectively collected from electronic patient records.

Adjuvant steroid to percutaneous needle fasciotomy for Dupuytren's contracture. An RCT study protocol.

Introduction: Percutaneous needle fasciotomy (PNF) is a non-invasive treatment option for finger flexion contractures caused by Dupuytren's disease. Variations in PNF techniques include the use of corticosteroid injection. In the presented randomised controlled trial, we compare the efficacy of PNF +/- corticosteroid injection in terms of reducing the recurrence rate.

Establishment of permanent peritoneal PleurX catheter as palliative treatment of malignant ascites.

Introduction: Refractory malignant ascites (RMA) is a manifestation of end-stage cancer disease with a major impact on quality of life due to the symptom burden and need for repeated hospitalisations. We previously described the implantation of the permanent PleurX catheter as a treatment of RMA. The present study aimed to evaluate and describe our experience with the permanent PleurX catheter system in the largest cohort to date.

Geographic variation of recorded neurodevelopmental disorders in children and adults.

Introduction: While diagnosis rates of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) vary within countries at a large-scale municipal level, small neighbourhood geographic variation remains understudied. In this nationwide study, we describe the rates of ASD and ADHD diagnoses in children and adults by geographical data zones of approximately 2,500 residents across Denmark.

Methods: We included a population of children born from 1993 through 2020 and an adult population born from 1977 through 2003.

The use of patient-generated health data in the management of low anterior resection syndrome: a qualitative study.

Background: The cornerstone of low anterior resection syndrome (LARS) treatment is self-management, which requires patient engagement. Colorectal surgeons and nurses may use patient-generated health data (PGHD) to help guide patients in their use of self-management strategies for LARS. However, the perspectives of LARS experts on the use of PGHD remain largely unexplored.

Striving to establish patient participation in rehabilitation: the challenges experienced by nursing staff when changing practice to include the patient's perspective.

Purpose: Patient participation is a complex issue and difficult to establish, but essential to successful spinal cord injury rehabilitation. The purpose of this study was to explore the challenges experienced by nursing staff when they wanted to include the patient's perspective in their rehabilitation.

Methods: Action research methodology was applied to increase knowledge, develop competences, and ultimately change practice.

Impact of Sheath Type on Vascular and Bleeding Complications After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: A Post Hoc Analysis From the MARVEL Registry Study.

Background: Vascular and bleeding complications remain a concern after transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). The impact of the sheath type on these complications remains unclear.

Methods: The prospective MARVEL registry study analyzed enrolled 500 patients undergoing large-bore transfemoral procedures and arteriotomy closure with the MANTA vascular closure device from 10 hospitals in Europe and Canada.
