Hybrid PET/MRI is highly valuable, having made significant strides in overcoming technical challenges and offering unique advantages such as reduced radiation, precise data coregistration, and motion correction. Growing evidence highlights the value of PET/MRI in broad clinical aspects, including inflammatory and oncological imaging in adults, pregnant women, and pediatrics, potentially surpassing PET/CT. This newly integrated solution may be preferred over PET/CT in many clinical conditions.

Background/objective: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (CPIs) activate antitumoral immune responses and are used to treat multiple types of primary and metastatic malignancies. Thyroid dysfunction is a known immune-related adverse event of CPI therapy. There are few data on the effect of CPI and CPI-induced thyroiditis on primary papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC).

Using Community-Partnered Participatory Research to Value the "Community Lens" and Promote Equity in Community-Academic Partnerships.

Background: Community input is crucial for identifying characteristics necessary for equitable, sustainable community-academic partnerships (CAPs). A November 2021 conference, honoring the late Dr. Loretta Jones and the Community-Partnered Participatory Research (CPPR) model, was held to gather input for designing a learning institute for community members as co-equal partners with academics in research, program, and policy initiatives.

Assessing social needs among patients with cardiovascular and psychiatric comorbidities in free community health clinics.

Background: Community-related health assessments have been shown to improve several outcomes in socioeconomically disadvantaged populations with comorbid chronic health conditions. However, while it is recognized that modifiable social determinant of health (SDH) factors might be responsible for up to 60% of preventable deaths, it is not yet standard of care to routinely screen and address these at preventive health appointments. The objective of this study was to identify the social needs of socioeconomically disadvantaged patients.

The Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) aims to improve Alzheimer's disease (AD) clinical trials. Since 2006, ADNI has shared clinical, neuroimaging, and cognitive data, and biofluid samples. We used conventional search methods to identify 1459 publications from 2021 to 2022 using ADNI data/samples and reviewed 291 impactful studies.

Background: Many adolescent and young adult female (AYA-F) cancer survivors face decisions about family building using reproductive medicine or adoption to achieve parenthood. This study evaluated associations among reproductive distress, avoidance, and family-building decision making and identified sociodemographic and clinical characteristics related to high distress and avoidance.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey assessed AYA-F survivors' oncofertility experiences.

Coronavirus disease-19 is associated with decreased treatment access and worsened outcomes in malignant brain tumor patients.

Background: The global coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic has resulted in procedural delays around the world; however, timely and aggressive surgical resection for malignant brain tumor patients is essential for outcome optimization. To investigate the association between COVID-19 and outcomes of these patients, we queried the 2020 National Inpatient Sample (NIS) for differences in rates of surgical resection, time to surgery, mortality, and discharge disposition between patients with and without confirmed COVID-19 infection.

Methods: Patient data were taken from the NIS from April 2020 to December 2020.

A novel silk protein microparticle-hyaluronic acid-based material (silk-HA) has demonstrated cellular infiltration and tissue deposition that may portend a durable medialization effect.

Background: Foot deformities and gait abnormalities can result in locally elevated peak pedal pressures or atypical pedal biomechanics. Combined with underlying comorbidities such as neuropathy, stroke, atrophic fat padding and history of ulcerations, this can lead to recurrent ulcerations and pain. Pedal fat grafting (PFG) is a treatment modality that has been shown to reduce peak pressures and accelerate wound healing.

Automated, video-based, quantitative feedback on surgical performance could address this gap, improving surgical training. The authors aim to demonstrate the ability of Shannon entropy (ShEn), an information theory metric that quantifies series diversity, to predict surgical performance using instrument detections generated through deep learning.

Background/aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of AFree oral spray, in combination with Standard of Care, in treating mild to moderate COVID-19 patients. This was an open-label, single-blinded, and controlled randomized clinical trial.

Patients And Methods: The study involved 1,252 patients, who were randomly assigned to either the control or study group, with 626 patients in each group.

Diabetic foot complications among Indigenous peoples in Canada: a scoping review through the equity lens.

Introduction: Indigenous peoples in Canada face a disproportionate burden of diabetes-related foot complications (DRFC), such as foot ulcers, lower extremity amputations (LEA), and peripheral arterial disease. This scoping review aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of DRFC among First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples in Canada, incorporating an equity lens.

Methods: A scoping review was conducted based on Arksey and O'Malley refined by the Joanna Briggs Institute.

With growing maternal and congenital syphilis epidemics and shortages of benzathine penicillin, alternative syphilis treatments are needed. Linezolid has shown efficacy against syphilis in animal models. This review found no teratogenic effects.

A Narrative Review: Phentermine and Topiramate for the Treatment of Pediatric Obesity.

The prevalence of pediatric obesity has increased exponentially over the past four decades. The American Academy of Pediatrics recently released updated clinical practice guidelines highlighting the importance of identifying pediatric obesity as a chronic disease. The guidelines support consideration of concurrent treatment with intensive lifestyle interventions, obesity pharmacotherapy, and bariatric surgery.

Significant Variability in the Identification and Reporting of Band Neutrophils by Participants Enrolled in the College of American Pathologists Proficiency Testing Program: Time for a Change.

Context.—: Increased band neutrophils in blood smear differential counts ("bandemia") are entrenched in medicine as a flag for sepsis. However, laboratory hematology experts have long advocated for discontinuation of reporting bands separately from segmented neutrophils because of poor sensitivity and specificity, poor interobserver agreement, and availability of alternative biomarkers for sepsis.
