The current study examines mother and father PPD as a risk factor for child emotion regulation difficulties. A model was tested in which parent depression and parent emotion socialization of children were serial intervening variables. Parent emotion socialization was assessed via parent self-reported supportive and nonsupportive reactions to child negative emotions.

Solid tumors vary by the immunogenic potential of the tumor microenvironment (TME) and the likelihood of response to immunotherapy. The emerging literature has identified key immune cell populations that significantly impact immune activation or suppression within the TME. This study investigated candidate T-cell populations and their differential infiltration within different tumor types as estimated from mRNA co-expression levels of the corresponding cellular markers.

In 2017, the American College of Radiology introduced the US Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS) as a framework for US surveillance of patients at risk for developing hepatocellular carcinoma. This has aided in the standardization of technique, clinical reporting, patient management, data collection, and research. Emerging evidence has helped inform changes to the algorithm, now released as LI-RADS US Surveillance version 2024.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a breathing disorder in which airway obstruction during sleep leads to periodic bouts of inadequate (hypopneic) or absent (apneic) ventilation despite neurorespiratory effort. Repetitive apneic and hypopneic exposures can induce intermittent hypoxemia and lead to a host of maladaptive behavioral and physiological outcomes. Intermittent hypoxia treatment (IH), which consists of alternating exposure to hypoxic and normal air, can induce a long-lasting increase in breathing motor outputs called long term facilitation (LTF).

Zinc (Zn) is an essential element that can promote proper organ function, cell growth, and immune response; it can also, however, be present in too great a quantity. Zinc toxicity caused by overexposure may result in both minor and major physiological effects, with chronic exposure at low levels and acute exposure at high levels being harmful or even toxic. This investigation examines the effects of acute exposure to relatively high concentrations of Zn on sensory nerve function and nerve conduction.

Whey protein isolate (WPI) was reacted with 20, 120, and 240 μmol/g gallic acid (GA) or epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) at 21 °C. Equilibrium dialysis testing indicated a stronger binding capacity of whey proteins with EGCG compared to GA. Both phenolics, especially EGCG, tended to reduce the adsorption of WPI at the oil-water interface and decreased the elasticity modulus (E) of the interfacial film.

Introduction: Individuals with substance use disorders face many challenges in establishing and maintaining recovery, most notably from contextual factors such as people, locations, events, emotions, and other triggers of cravings that could spark return to use. We sought to understand how individuals experience and cope with locations as triggers.
Methods: We conducted 31 semi-structured in-depth interviews with individuals who had recently been in substance use treatment and reported problem levels of alcohol and opioid use according to screening instruments.

This paper reports the results of a hybrid effectiveness-implementation randomized trial that systematically varied levels of human oversight required to support the implementation of a digital medicine intervention for persons with mild-to-moderate alcohol use disorder (AUD). Many coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) positive individuals exhibit abnormal electroencephalographic (EEG) activity reflecting "brain fog" and mild cognitive impairments even months after the acute phase of infection. Resting-state EEG abnormalities include EEG slowing (reduced alpha rhythm; increased slow waves) and epileptiform activity. An expert panel conducted a systematic review to present compelling evidence that cognitive deficits due to COVID-19 and to Alzheimer's disease and related dementia (ADRD) are driven by overlapping pathologies and neurophysiological abnormalities.

Rationale: A recent study by our group found that women displayed greater attentional bias to alcohol-related cues during the late versus early follicular phase in both sober and intoxicated states, suggesting a greater risk of excessive drinking among women during this phase. Changes in attentional bias as a function of menstrual cycle phase raise questions about potential sex differences in the relative consistency by which women and men display attentional bias to alcohol over time.
Objectives: The present study tested sex differences in attentional bias to alcohol by comparing the change in women's attentional bias from early to late follicular phase to that observed in men over the same period.

Existing maze apparatuses used in rodents often exclusively assess spatial discriminability as a means to evaluate learning impairments. Spatial learning in such paradigms is reportedly spared by moderate prenatal alcohol exposure in rats, suggesting that spatial reinforcement alone is insufficient to delineate executive dysfunction, which consistently manifests in humans prenatally-exposed to alcohol. To address this, we designed a single-session continuous performance task in the T-maze apparatus that requires rats to discriminate within and between simultaneously-presented spatial (left or right) and tactile (sandpaper or smooth) stimuli for food reinforcement across four sequential discrimination stages: simple discrimination, intradimensional reversal 1, extradimensional shift, and intradimensional reversal 2.
