Background And Objective: Recommendations of first-line therapies for metastatic hormone-sensitive (mHSPC), nonmetastatic castrate-resistant (M0CRPC), and metastatic castrate-resistant (mCRPC) prostate cancer do not account for cardiotoxicity due to a lack of clear prior evidence. This manuscript assesses cardiotoxicity of these therapies.
Methods: We searched Ovid Medline, Elsevier Embase, and the Cochrane Library for randomized clinical trials (RCTs) from database inception to January 14, 2024.

Twenty years after the first publication that used the term microplastic, we review current understanding, refine definitions, and consider future prospects. Microplastics arise from multiple sources, including tires, textiles, cosmetics, paint, and the fragmentation of larger items. They are widely distributed throughout the natural environment, with evidence of harm at multiple levels of biological organization.

Miktoarm star polymers exhibit a captivating range of physicochemical properties, setting them apart from their linear counterparts. This study devised a synthetic pathway to synthesize cationic miktoarm stars utilizing polypept(o)ides (PeptoMiktoStars), comprising 3 or 6 polysarcosine (pSar) arms (AB, AB, overall 300) for shielding and a cross-linkable poly(-ethylsulfonyl-l-homocysteine) (pHcy(SOEt)) block and a poly(l-lysine) ((pLys)) block for nucleic acid complexation. Precise control over the DP and narrow molecular weight distributions ( ≈ 1.

Although Essential Climate Variables (ECVs) have been widely adopted as important metrics for guiding scientific and policy decisions, the Earth Observation (EO) and Land Surface and Hydrologic Model (LSM/HM) communities have yet to treat terrestrial ECVs in an integrated manner. To develop consistent terrestrial ECVs at regional and continental scales, greater collaboration between EO and LSM/HM communities is needed. An essential first step is assessing the LSM/HM simulation uncertainty.

Maize () is an important staple crop for food security in Sub-Saharan Africa. However, there is need to increase production to feed a growing population. In Ghana, this is mainly done by increasing acreage with adverse environmental consequences, rather than yield increment per unit area.

The natural heterogeneity of guaiacyl (G) and syringyl (S) compounds resulting from lignin processing hampers their direct use as plant-based chemicals and materials. Herein, we explore six short polyphenol oxidases (PPOs) from lignocellulose-degrading ascomycetes for their capacity to react with G-type and S-type phenolic compounds. All six PPOs catalyze the ortho-hydroxylation of G-type compounds (guaiacol, vanillic acid, and ferulic acid), forming the corresponding methoxy-ortho-diphenols.

Background: While treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in refugees is generally effective, many refugees remain symptomatic after treatment. Coping styles could be relevant to PTSD treatment response and as such may be a potential focus of PTSD treatment.
Aims: The study aims to examine 1) if baseline coping styles are related to treatment response after EMDR therapy or stabilization, and 2) if coping styles change during these treatments.

Background: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by radical cystectomy is the standard treatment for cisplatin-eligible patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Adding perioperative immunotherapy may improve outcomes.
Methods: In this phase 3, open-label, randomized trial, we assigned, in a 1:1 ratio, cisplatin-eligible patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer to receive neoadjuvant durvalumab plus gemcitabine-cisplatin every 3 weeks for four cycles, followed by radical cystectomy and adjuvant durvalumab every 4 weeks for eight cycles (durvalumab group), or to receive neoadjuvant gemcitabine-cisplatin followed by radical cystectomy alone (comparison group).

Background: Previous results from this trial showed longer overall survival after treatment with nivolumab plus ipilimumab or with nivolumab monotherapy than with ipilimumab monotherapy in patients with advanced melanoma. Given that patients with advanced melanoma are living longer than 7.5 years, longer-term data were needed to address new clinically relevant questions.

Passive surveillance can be most effective in the early detection of disease outbreaks given that farmers observe their animals daily. The European Animal Health Law states that unexplained excess mortality should be reported to the veterinary authorities. In the Netherlands, in addition to notifications to the competent authority, Royal GD is commissioned a passive surveillance component that consists of a veterinary helpdesk and postmortem examination for early detection of emerging diseases.

Verifying the speaker of a speech fragment can be crucial in attributing a crime to a suspect. The question can be addressed given disputed and reference speech material, adopting the recommended and scientifically accepted likelihood ratio framework for reporting evidential strength in court. In forensic practice, usually, auditory and acoustic analyses are performed to carry out such a verification task considering a diversity of features, such as language competence, pronunciation, or other linguistic features.

This study aimed to investigate the mechanical behavior of resin composites and hybrid glass ionomer cement in class I adhesive dental restorations under loading and shrinkage conditions. Three CAD models of a mandibular first molar with class I cavities were created and restored with different techniques: a bi-layer of Equia Forte HT with Filtek One Bulk Fill Restorative composite (model A), a single layer of adhesive and Filtek One Bulk Fill Restorative (model B), and a single layer of Equia forte HT (model C). Each model was exported to computer-aided engineering software, and 3D finite element models were created.

Atmospheric elevated CO concentration ([CO]) decreases plant nitrogen (N) concentration while increasing water use efficiency (WUE), fertigation increases crop nutrition and WUE in crop; yet the interactive effects of [CO] coupled with two N-fertigation levels during deficit irrigation on plant gas exchange, root morphology and WUE remain largely elusive. The objective of this study was to explore the physiological and growth responses of ambient [CO] ([CO], 400 ppm) and [CO] (800 ppm) tomato plant exposed to two N-fertigation regimes: (1) full irrigation during N-fertigation (FIN); (2) deficit irrigation during N-fertigation (DIN) under two N fertilizer levels (reduced N (N1, 0.5 g pot) and adequate N (N2, 1.

Background: Chronic lung infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa is associated with increased exacerbations and mortality in people with bronchiectasis. The PROMIS-I and PROMIS-II trials investigated the efficacy and safety of 12-months of inhaled colistimethate sodium delivered via the I-neb.
Methods: Two randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials of twice per day colistimethate sodium versus placebo were conducted in patients with bronchiectasis with P aeruginosa and a history of at least two exacerbations requiring oral antibiotics or one requiring intravenous antibiotics in the previous year in hospitals in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, the UK, and the USA.

While several countries impose minimum light requirements for pig housing, it remains unknown whether these requirements are beneficial for pig welfare. Therefore, we aim to review the current knowledge on the effects of light on pig welfare. In this paper, we explain concepts defining light, discuss the relevance of vision for pigs and systematically review the effects of light on pig welfare.

Belly is a widely consumed pork product with very variable properties. Meat industry needs real-time quality assessment for maintaining superior pork quality throughout the production. This study explores the potential of using visible and near-infrared (VNIR,386-1015 nm) spectral imaging for predicting firmness, fatness and chemical compositional properties in pork belly samples, offering robust spectral calibrations.
