Through the application of C-CF-containing plant protection products (PPP) in agriculture, a substantial quantity of trifluoroacetate (TFA) can be formed and emitted. We here present estimations of TFA formation potentials from PPP across three important economical regions, namely Europe, the United States of America and China. PPP with TFA formation potential vary in type and use profile across those regions, but can be found throughout, with the estimated maximum TFA emissions ranging from 0 to 83 kg/km per year.

Background: The ICH E9 (R1) addendum on Estimands and Sensitivity analysis in Clinical trials proposes a framework for the design and analysis of clinical trials aimed at improving clarity around the definition of the targeted treatment effect (the estimand) of a study.

Methods: We adopt the estimand framework in the context of a study using "trial emulation" to estimate the risk of pneumocystis pneumonia, an opportunistic disease contracted by people living with HIV and AIDS having a weakened immune system, when considering two antibiotic treatment regimes for stopping antibiotic prophylaxis treatment against this disease. A "while on treatment" strategy has been implemented for post-randomisation (intercurrent) events.

Macrocycles are a promising class of compounds as therapeutics for difficult drug targets due to a favorable combination of properties: They often exhibit improved binding affinity compared to their linear counterparts due to their reduced conformational flexibility, while still being able to adapt to environments of different polarity. To assist in the rational design of macrocyclic drugs, there is need for computational methods that can accurately predict conformational ensembles of macrocycles in different environments. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations remain one of the most accurate methods to predict ensembles quantitatively, although the accuracy is governed by the underlying force field.

This cross-sectional study examines putative associations between metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and brain health in 36-55 year-old participants with obesity (n = 70) from the BARICO study (BAriatric surgery Rijnstate and Radboudumc neuroImaging and Cognition in Obesity). The participants underwent brain magnetic resonance imaging to study brain volumes and cortical thickness (3T MRI including T1-weighted magnetization-prepared rapid gradient-echo sequence), cerebral blood perfusion (arterial spin labeling) and white matter integrity (diffusion weighted imaging to assess mean-skeletonized mean diffusivity and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery to detect the presence of white matter hyperintensities (WMH)).

The PartnerREC network at the Geneva University Hospitals aims to facilitate the collaboration between researchers and patient partners in any type of clinical research, mainly those led at the HUG. It is the result of a coconstruction process initiated in 2019 by physicians, research professionals, cantonal research ethics committee members, a lawyer, and patient partners. The network implemented four initiatives: a) a website providing information to researchers and patients participating to research projects; b) personalized counseling for researchers to explore partnership opportunities in their own research projects; c) a training program related to patient partnership in research developed together with different partners in French-speaking Switzerland and d) its own research program on partnership in clinical research.

Glial reactivity may contribute to sex/gender differences in Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathophysiology. Here, we investigated the differential effect of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) glial markers on AD pathology and neurodegeneration by sex/gender among cognitively unimpaired older adults at increased risk of developing AD.
