Histiocytic sarcoma (HS) is a rare hematopoietic neoplasm with an aggressive clinical course and a poor response to conventional chemotherapy. Currently, no standard treatment paradigms are available. Herein, we present a case of de novo HS treated with pembrolizumab combined with a GDP regimen (gemcitabine, cisplatin, and dexamethasone) that resulted in sustained complete remission with progression-free survival exceeding 4 years.

The detection of pathogenicity and immunogenicity in Vibrio parahaemolyticus poses a significant challenge due to its threat to human health and food safety, which is strongly correlated with lipid A. Lipid A, a critical component found in most Gram-negative bacteria, functions as a hydrophobic anchor for lipopolysaccharide. V.

There has been a serious health and environmental concern in conversion of inorganic mercury (Hg) to the neurotoxin, methylmercury (MeHg) by anaerobic microbes, while very little is known about the potential role of vitamin B9 (VB9) regulator in the biochemical generation of MeHg. This study innovatively investigated bacterial Hg methylation by Geobacter sulfurreducens PCA in the presence of VB9 under two existing scenarios. In the low-complexing scenario, the bacterial MeHg yield reached 68 % higher than that without VB9 within 72 h, which was attributed to free VB9-protected PCA cells relieving oxidative stress, as manifested by the increased expression of Hg methylation gene (hgcAB cluster by 19-48 %).

Aberrant RNA modifications can lead to dysregulated gene expression and impeded growth in plants. Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) constitutes a substantial portion of total RNA, while the precise functions and molecular mechanisms underlying rRNA modifications in plants remain largely elusive. Here, we elucidated the exclusive occurrence of the canonical RNA modification N-methyladenosine (mA) solely 18S rRNA, but not 25S rRNA.

Purpose: This research aimed to identify the function of fat mass- and obesity-associated protein (FTO), an eraser of N6-methyladenosine (m6A), and explore its possible mechanisms in uveal melanoma (UVM).
Methods: We performed quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR), Western blotting and gene correlation analysis with GEPIA2 to assess FTO expression and identify its potential targets in UVM. CCK-8, colony formation, cell cycle, cell apoptosis, wound healing and Transwell invasion assays were utilized to assess cell viability, cell cycle distribution, apoptosis, migration and invasion.

Objectives: To investigate the efficacy and safety of ultrasound (US)-guided microwave ablation (MWA) without artificial ascites (AA) inpatients with sub-cardiac (SC) liver cancers.
Methods: This retrospective study included patients with the left lobe and caudate lobe of the liver cancer who underwent US-guided MWA in our institute from January 2020 to December 2022. According to whether the target lesion was located ≤5 mm from the pericardium, patients were divided into the SC group and the non-sub-cardiac (NSC) group.

Introduction: The paramagnetic iron, diamagnetic amyloid beta (Aβ) plaques and their interaction are crucial in Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathogenesis, complicating non-invasive magnetic resonance imaging for prodromal AD detection.
Methods: We used a state-of-the-art sub-voxel quantitative susceptibility mapping method to simultaneously measure Aβ and iron levels in post mortem human brains, validated by histology. Further transcriptomic analysis using Allen Human Brain Atlas elucidated the underlying biological processes.

This study investigates the role of histone tail modifications in Parkinson's disease (PD), emphasizing the epigenetic regulation of genes associated with the disease. PD primarily manifests in individuals over 60, suggesting that PD-causal genes remain dormant until later in life, influenced by environmental factors and epigenetic modifications. Histone modifications such as methylation, acetylation, phosphorylation, and ubiquitylation play crucial roles in gene expression regulation by altering chromatin structure or interacting with gene regulatory regions.

The increasing need for mass spectrometric analysis of RNA molecules calls for a better understanding of their gas-phase fragmentation behaviors. In this study, we investigate the effect of terminal phosphate groups on the fragmentation spectra of RNA oligonucleotides (oligos) using high-resolution mass spectrometry (MS). Negative-ion mode collision-induced dissociation (CID) and higher-energy collisional dissociation (HCD) were carried out on RNA oligos containing a terminal phosphate group on either end, both ends, or neither end.

Mycoplasma synoviae (MS) infection is a serious threat to poultry industry in China. Tilmicosin is a semisynthetic macrolide antibiotic used only in animals and has shown potential efficacy against MS, but there were no reported articles concerning the pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) interactions of tilmicosin against MS in vitro and vivo. This study aimed to assess the antibacterial activity of tilmicosin against MS in vitro and in vivo using PK/PD model to provide maximal efficacy.

Objectives: To investigate whether high concentration iodinated contrast media (CM), compared with low concentration CM, could reduce pain and discomfort levels in patients who had level II and III venous conditions.
Methods: This prospective, single-center study enrolled patients who had level II and III venous conditions and underwent abdominal contrast-enhanced CT scan between July 2021 and February 2022. The venous condition to establish peripheral venous access for CM injection was graded using the Intravenous Access Scoring system, of which level II and III indicated poor venous condition and difficult venous access.

It takes more than 20 years for normal colorectal mucosa to develop into metastatic carcinoma. The long time window provides a golden opportunity for early detection to terminate the malignant progression. Here, we aim to enable liquid biopsy of T1a stage colorectal cancer (CRC) and precancerous advanced adenoma (AA) by profiling circulating small extracellular vesicle (sEV)-derived RNAs.

The precise identification of sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs) during surgery and assessment of their benign status is crucial for accurate tumor staging and optimal treatment strategizing. Currently, a deficiency exists in non-invasive in vivo diagnostic techniques that can accurately pinpoint SLNs during surgery while simultaneously evaluating their benign status. Here, a tumor-activatable liposomal nanoprobe (nTAL) is developed, remotely loaded with clinically approved photosensitizer, methyl aminolevulinate (MAL), to noninvasively visualize the tumor metastasis lymph nodes (LNs) with precision.
