Aims And Background: To evaluate the effect of sleeping in the lateral decubitus position on the average thickness of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) in the peripapillary region of the optic nerve since the effect of posture on intraocular pressure (IOP) and glaucoma progression is not yet sufficiently understood.
Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was carried out with 40 volunteers who preferably slept in a right lateral decubitus (RLD) (RLD group = 20) and left lateral decubitus (LLD) (LLD group = 20) position. IOP was measured in both eyes, first in the sitting position and again after 10 minutes in a supine position, right lateral, and LLD, respectively.
Purpose: To evaluate refractive results, corneal higher order aberrations (HOAs), and epithelial remodeling in the preoperative and postoperative period of regular corneas that had topography-guided femtosecond laser-assisted laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) (Contoura WaveLight; Alcon Laboratories, Inc) and compare them with the contralateral eye that underwent ablation customized by asphericity (Custom-Q WaveLight; Alcon Laboratories, Inc) in myopic eyes with or without astigmatism.
Methods: A prospective, randomized, and double-blind study was conducted. Patients underwent preoperative and postoperative epithelial mapping and corneal tomography to assess the epithelial thickness map, HOAs of the corneal anterior surface, visual acuity, and refractive evaluation.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has pointed out the high vulnerability of developing countries to climate change, which is expected to impact food and income security. Sheep farming is one of the main animal productions among the families located in the most vulnerable regions of the semiarid region of Pernambuco state, a Brazilian territory known for its high temperatures, low relative humidity, and high net solar radiation. Therefore, the objective of this study was to identify different regions of Pernambuco that may be more suitable for different breeds of sheep, based on non-parametric statistics and kriging maps of the temperature and humidity index (THI).

Macropores and water flow in soils and substrates are complex and are related to topics like preferential flow, nonequilibrium flow, and dual-continuum. Hence, the quantification of the number of macropores and the determination of their geometry are expected to provide a better understanding on the effects of pores on the soil's physical and hydraulic properties. This exploratory study aimed at evaluating the potential of using infrared thermography for mapping macroporosity at the soil surface and estimating the number and size of such macropores.
