State Key Laboratory of Integrated Optoelectronics, Key Laboratory of Automobile Materials of MOE, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Jilin University, Changchun 130012, China.

Moiré superlattices (MSLs) in twisted two-dimensional van der Waals materials feature twist-angle-dependent crystal symmetry and strong optical nonlinearities. By adjusting the twist angle in bilayer van der Waals materials, the second-harmonic generation (SHG) can be controlled. Here, we focus on exploring the electronic and SHG properties of MSLs in 2D bilayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) with different twist angles through first-principles calculations.

  • Abamectin is a broad-spectrum bioinsecticide commonly used against Lepidoptera, but resistance levels in Spodoptera litura are increasing.
  • In this study, several cytochrome P450 monooxygenase genes (SlCYPs) were found to be significantly upregulated in the fat body and Malpighian tubules of S. litura after exposure to abamectin.
  • Overexpressing specific SlCYPs in transgenic Drosophila showed that these genes help confer tolerance to abamectin, indicating their role in detoxification and providing insights for better insecticide resistance management.

Spin transition (ST) compounds have been extensively studied because of the changes in rich physicochemical properties accompanying the ST process. The study of ST mainly focuses on the temperature-induced spin transition (TIST). To further understand the ST, we explore the pressure response behavior of TIST and pressure-induced spin transition (PIST) of the 2D Hofmann-type ST compounds [Fe(Isoq)M(CN)] () (M = Pt, Pd, Isoq = isoquinoline).

Epigenetic modifications play critical roles during somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) embryo development. Whether RNA N6-methyladenosine (mA) affects the developmental competency of SCNT embryos remains unclear. Here, we showed that porcine bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (pBMSCs) presented higher RNA mA levels than those of porcine embryonic fibroblasts (pEFs).

Is it still worth renewing nucleoside anticancer drugs nowadays?

Eur J Med Chem

January 2024

Department of Organic Chemistry, College of Chemistry, Jilin University, Changchun, 130021, People's Republic of China. Electronic address:

Nucleoside has situated the convergence point in the discovery of novel drugs for decades, and a large number of nucleoside derivatives have been constructed for screening novel pharmacological properties at various experimental platforms. Notably, nearly 20 nucleosides are approved to be used in the clinic treatment of various cancers. Nevertheless, the blossom of synthetic nucleoside analogs in comparison with the scarcity of nucleoside anticancer drugs leads to a question: Is it still worth insisting on the screening of novel anticancer drugs from nucleoside derivatives? Hence, this review attempts to emphasize the importance of nucleoside analogs in the discovery of novel anticancer drugs.

Solid-Phase Electrosynthesis.

Acc Chem Res

State Key Laboratory of Polymer Physics and Chemistry, Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Changchun 130022, China.

ConspectusThe significance of the new synthetic approach is that it can overcome the limitations of conventional methods and produce previously inaccessible polymer structures and materials. The solid-phase synthesis developed by Merrifield in 1964 is widely employed for the synthesis of biological molecules, such as peptides, nucleic acids, and oligosaccharides. Although the variety of iterative reactions available is theoretically implemented for most organic synthesis protocols, they are usually required to have high efficiency against sluggish reaction kinetics at the solid-liquid interface and process with protection and deprotection steps.

The MT1 receptor as the target of ramelteon neuroprotection in ischemic stroke.

J Pineal Res

January 2024

Department of Neurosurgery, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Stroke is the leading cause of death and disability worldwide. Novel and effective therapies for ischemic stroke are urgently needed. Here, we report that melatonin receptor 1A (MT1) agonist ramelteon is a neuroprotective drug candidate as demonstrated by comprehensive experimental models of ischemic stroke, including a middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) mouse model of cerebral ischemia in vivo, organotypic hippocampal slice cultures ex vivo, and cultured neurons in vitro; the neuroprotective effects of ramelteon are diminished in MT1-knockout (KO) mice and MT1-KO cultured neurons.

Driving Intention Recognition of Surrounding Vehicles Based on a Time-Sequenced Weights Hidden Markov Model for Autonomous Driving.

Sensors (Basel)

October 2023

National Key Laboratory of Automotive Chassis Integration and Bionics, Changchun 130022, China.

Accurate perception, especially situational awareness, is central to the evolution of autonomous driving. This necessitates understanding both the traffic conditions and driving intentions of surrounding vehicles. Given the unobservable nature of driving intentions, the hidden Markov model (HMM) has emerged as a popular tool for intention recognition, owing to its ability to relate observable and hidden variables.

Potentiality of Nucleoside as Antioxidant by Analysis on Oxidative Susceptibility, Drug Discovery, and Synthesis.

Curr Med Chem

November 2023

Department of Organic Chemistry, College of Chemistry, Jilin University, Changchun 130021, People's Republic of China.

Nucleosides are sensitive sites towards oxidations caused by endogenous and exogenous oxidative resources, and a large number of the produced DNA lesions behave as pathogenesis event1ually. We herein analyze oxidative modes of nucleosides and structure-activity relationships of some clinical nucleoside drugs. Together with our previous findings on the inhibitory effects of nucleoside derivatives against DNA oxidation, all these results imply a possibility for nucleoside to be a new member in the family of antioxidants.

Background And Objective: According to the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) algorithm, tumor burden and liver function, but not tumor biology, are the key factors in determining tumor staging and treatment modality, and evaluating treatment prognosis. The serum α-fetoprotein (AFP) level is an important characteristic of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) biology, and we aimed to evaluate its prognostic value for patients undergoing liver resection of early-stage HCC.

Methods: Patients who underwent curative liver resection for early-stage HCC were identified from a multi-institutional database.

Determination of Spin-Parity Quantum Numbers for the Narrow Structure near the pΛ[over ¯] Threshold in e^{+}e^{-}→pK^{-}Λ[over ¯]+c.c.

Phys Rev Lett

October 2023

State Key Laboratory of Particle Detection and Electronics, Beijing 100049, Hefei 230026, People's Republic of China.

A narrow structure in the pΛ[over ¯] system near the mass threshold, named as X(2085), is observed in the process e^{+}e^{-}→pK^{-}Λ[over ¯] with a statistical significance greater than 20σ. Its spin and parity are determined for the first time to be J^{P}=1^{+} in an amplitude analysis, with a statistical significance greater than 5σ over other quantum numbers (0^{-},1^{-} and 2^{+}). The pole positions of X(2085) are measured to be M_{pole}=(2084_{-2}^{+4}±9)  MeV and Γ_{pole}=(58_{-3}^{+4}±25)  MeV, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic.
