Mild Thermotherapy-Assisted GelMA/HA/MPDA@Roxadustat 3D-Printed Scaffolds with Combined Angiogenesis-Osteogenesis Functions for Bone Regeneration.

Adv Healthc Mater

September 2024

Jilin Provincial Key Laboratory of Tooth Development and Bone Remodeling, Hospital of Stomatology, Jilin University, Changchun, Jilin, 130021, China.

Early reconstruction of the vascular network is a prerequisite to the effective treatment of substantial bone defects. Traditional 3D printed tissue engineering scaffolds designed to repair large bone defects do not effectively regenerate the vascular network, and rely only on the porous structure within the scaffold for nutrient transfer and metabolic waste removal. This leads to delayed bone restoration and hence functional recovery.

State Key Laboratory of Particle Detection and Electronics, Beijing 100049, Hefei 230026, People's Republic of China.

Using a sample of (10087±44)×10^{6}  J/ψ events, which is about 45 times larger than that was previously analyzed, a further investigation on the J/ψ→γ3(π^{+}π^{-}) decay is performed. A significant distortion at 1.84  GeV/c^{2} in the line shape of the 3(π^{+}π^{-}) invariant mass spectrum is observed for the first time, which could be resolved by two overlapping resonant structures, X(1840) and X(1880).

Environ Toxicol

July 2024

Department of Occupational and Environmental Health, School of Public Health, Jilin University, Changchun, China.

Mono-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (MEHP) can accumulate in the liver and then lead to hepatic steatosis, while the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Inflammation plays an important role in the disorder of hepatic lipid metabolism. This study aims to clarify the role of the inflammatory response mediated by formyl peptide receptor 2 (FPR2) in steatosis of L02 cells exposed to MEHP.

Chemically Specific Systematic Coarse-Grained Polymer Model with Both Consistently Structural and Dynamical Properties.

JACS Au

March 2024

State Key Laboratory of Supramolecular Structure and Materials, Institute of Theoretical Chemistry, College of Chemistry, Jilin University, Changchun 130021, China.

The coarse-grained (CG) model serves as a powerful tool for the simulation of polymer systems; its reliability depends on the accurate representation of both structural and dynamical properties. However, strong correlations between structural and dynamical properties on different scales and also a strong memory effect, enforced by chain connectivity between monomers in polymer systems, render developing a chemically specific systematic CG model a formidable task. In this study, we report a systematic CG approach that combines the iterative Boltzmann inversion (IBI) method and the generalized Langevin equation (GLE) dynamics.

Department of Health Technology and Informatics, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong SAR, China; Research Center for Chinese Medicine Innovation, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong SAR, China; Research Institute for Future Food, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong SAR, China. Electronic address:

A large number of patients are affected by classical heart failure (HF) symptomatology with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and multiorgan syndrome. Due to high morbidity and mortality rate, hospitalization and mortality remain serious socioeconomic problems, while the lack of effective pharmacological or device treatment means that HFpEF presents a major unmet medical need. Evidence from clinical and basic studies demonstrates that systemic inflammation, increased oxidative stress, and impaired mitochondrial function are the common pathological mechanisms in HFpEF.

Article Synopsis
  • Parallel double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) has useful applications in fields like molecular biology, diagnosis, and therapy, but current methods to study it are limited.
  • This research showcases the use of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) to identify specific Raman bands from three types of parallel dsDNA stabilized by different base pair configurations.
  • The new method can distinguish between parallel and antiparallel dsDNA and determine the orientation of the strands, which could greatly improve DNA analysis and the ability to detect different DNA forms.

Poly(Propylene Carbonate)-Based Biodegradable and Environment-Friendly Materials for Biomedical Applications.

Int J Mol Sci

March 2024

Key Laboratory of Bionic Engineering (Ministry of Education), College of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Jilin University, Changchun 130022, China.

Poly(propylene carbonate) (PPC) is an emerging "carbon fixation" polymer that holds the potential to become a "biomaterial of choice" in healthcare owing to its good biocompatibility, tunable biodegradability and safe degradation products. However, the commercialization and wide application of PPC as a biomedical material are still hindered by its narrow processing temperature range, poor mechanical properties and hydrophobic nature. Over recent decades, several physical, chemical and biological modifications of PPC have been achieved by introducing biocompatible polymers, inorganic ions or small molecules, which can endow PPC with better cytocompatibility and desirable biodegradability, and thus enable various applications.
