The aim of this study was to assess the pharmacokinetics of the existing remdesivir intravenous formulation (100 mg dose) against the newly developed oral formulation (20 mg dose) for remdesivir and its active nucleoside metabolite (GS-441524) in beagle dogs followed by healthy human volunteers. A quantification method for remdesivir and its active nucleoside metabolite (GS-441524) in beagle dog and human plasma has been developed and validated using liquid chromatography coupled to triple quadrupole mass spectrometry detection. The analytical methods for beagle dogs and human differ in the calibration curve range, plasma matrix, processing volume, reconstitution volume and injection volume; however all other parameters were same in both methods.

Ascorbic acid (AA) is the most widely used reductant for noble metal nanoparticle (NP) synthesis. Despite the synthetic relevance, its aqueous chemistry remains misunderstood, due in part to various assumptions about its reduction pathway which are insufficiently supported by experimental evidence. This study aims to provide an understanding of the complex chemistry associated with AA under aqueous conditions.

Inspired by biomineralization, the recent incorporation of organic molecules into inorganic lattices shows interesting optical properties and tunability. We functionalize all inorganic CsPbBr perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) with amino acid (AA) cysteine using the water-hexane interfacial approach. Along with the AA cysteine, we added AuBr salt into the aqueous phase, leading to the formation of a Au-cysteine thiolate complex to activate the aqueous to nonaqueous phase transportation of the AA via a molecular shuttle, oleylamine.

Background: Adenomyosis is a gynaecological lesion that impairs female fertility and contributes to reduced quality of life. There are several surgical and medical options for the management of this lesion; however, women who wish to conceive opt for medical therapies such as the levonorgestrel intrauterine device (LNG-IUS) and dienogest, which have various outcomes. To date, there is no consensus regarding which is more effective.

Metal core and dielectric shell nanoparticles (NPs) have garnered considerable attention for their multifaceted properties and extensive applications across diverse fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology. However, a literature gap exists regarding the impact of assembled metallic nanostar cores within a single shell, particularly concerning surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and electrochemical sensing. In this study, we have demonstrated the better performance of assemblies of gold nanostars (AuNSs) enclosed in single silica shell for SERS enhancement and electrocatalytic activity, particularly in the fields of ascorbic acid (AA) and glucose sensing.

Background: Concurrent chemoradiotherapy now represents the standard of care in locally advanced unresectable squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, and the administration of cisplatin in triweekly or weekly schedules is the most commonly used chemotherapeutic agent. However, the chemotherapeutic agent and its scheduling with radiation is still an area of investigation with safer toxicity profile and better response rates. Gemcitabine is a potent radiosensitizer, and non-cytotoxic concentration results in decreased systemic toxicity while maintaining radiosensitization properties.

Hypertension-induced brain renin-angiotensin system (RAS) activation and neuroinflammation are hallmark neuropathological features of neurodegenerative diseases. Previous studies from our lab have shown that inhibition of ACE/Ang II/AT1R axis (by AT1R blockers or ACE inhibitors) reduced neuroinflammation and accompanied neurodegeneration via up-regulating adult hippocampal neurogenesis. Apart from this conventional axis, another axis of RAS also exists i.

Deregulated activation of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway is observed in many types of human malignancies including colon cancer. Abrogation of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway has been demonstrated as an effective way of inducing cancer cell death. Herein, a new isoxazolyl-urea (QR-5) was synthesized and examined its efficacy on the viability of colon cancer cell lines.

Ghrelin, a peptide found in the brain and gut, is predicted to play a significant role in the control of various physiological systems in fish. The objective of this study was to examine the impact of ipamorelin acetate (IPA), a ghrelin agonist, on the reproductive axis of the tilapia Oreochromis mossambicus. The administration of either 5 or 30 µg of IPA for 21 days led to a significant and dose-dependent rise in food intake concomitant with a significant increase in the numbers of primary spermatocytes, secondary spermatocytes, and early spermatids compared to the control group.
