Recurring lung injury, chronic inflammation, aberrant tissue repair and impaired tissue remodelling contribute to the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis (PF). Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are released by activated neutrophils to trap, immobilise and kill invading pathogen and is facilitated by peptidyl arginine deiminase-4 (PAD-4). Dysregulated NETs release and abnormal PAD-4 activation plays a crucial role in activating pro-fibrotic events in PF.

We report the transition between stream and droplet regimes in a coflow of an aqueous stream and oil-based ferrofluid. The transition between stream and droplet regimes is typically attained by controlling the capillary numbers (Ca) of the phases. Remarkably, we experimentally evidence a transition between the regimes by adjusting the exposure of the system to a magnetic field, with Ca fixed.

Background: The response of patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) to metformin may be a variation because of genetic differences in solute carrier (SLC) transporter proteins and other effect factors, which have an important effect on how metformin is processed in the body and its efficiency for glycaemic control.
Aim: This study was conducted to investigate the impact of certain genetic variants of the organic cation transporter genes OCT3 (SLC22A3 rs12194182 and rs8187722) and MATE2 (SLC47A2 rs12943590) and their association with glycaemic parameters in patients with T2DM who respond poorly to metformin.
Patients And Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 150 Iraqi cases with T2DM who were prescribed a daily dose of (1000 mg/day) metformin for a minimum of 3 months.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a progressive kidney disorder that develops as a complication of diabetes due to long-term exposure to elevated blood glucose levels (BGLs). In this case, an intervention of therapeutic moieties is needed to target the specific elements involved in diabetes to prevent/delay the deterioration of kidney function. Therefore, the present study focused on designing and evaluating a potent nano-formulation of a combination of C-peptide (CPep) and the anti-diabetic drug lisofylline (LSF) to prevent streptozotocin (STZ)-induced DN.

Research suggests that parenting supports may be helpful for parents and their infants, when provided in the first 2 years of life - before a formal diagnosis is given, but when information suggests an infant is more likely to be Autistic. However, we do not know how acceptable these types of supports might be to the Autistic and autism communities.
