Introduction: The global prevalence of people living with overweight has tripled since 1975 and more than 40% of Danish women enter pregnancy being overweight. With the increasing rates of obesity observed in children, adolescents and adults, there is an urgent need for preventive measures. Risk factors for childhood obesity include maternal overweight or obesity before conception and excessive weight gain during pregnancy.

Bipolar disorder is a leading contributor to the global burden of disease. Despite high heritability (60-80%), the majority of the underlying genetic determinants remain unknown. We analysed data from participants of European, East Asian, African American and Latino ancestries (n = 158,036 cases with bipolar disorder, 2.

Background: Alcohol use is measured in diverse ways across settings. Harmonization of measures is necessary to assess effects of alcohol use in multi-cohort collaborations, such as studies of people with HIV (PWH).
Methods: Data were combined from 14 HIV cohort studies (nine European, five North American) participating in the Antiretroviral Therapy Cohort Collaboration.

Background: Congenital long QT syndrome (LQTS) is characterized by delayed ventricular repolarization, predisposing to potentially lethal ventricular arrhythmias. The variability in disease severity among patients remains largely unexplored, underscoring the limitations of current risk stratification methods.
Objective: We aimed to evaluate the potential utility of electrocardiographic markers from the exercise stress test (EST) in identifying patients with high-risk LQTS.

Purpose: The CDK4/6 inhibitor palbociclib inhibits cyclin A, which is overexpressed in endometrial cancer. Combining palbociclib with endocrine therapy improves efficacy in hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. We investigated palbociclib combined with endocrine therapy for estrogen receptor-positive advanced/recurrent endometrial cancer.

Electronic address:
Intratelencephalic neurons are a crucial class of cortical principal neurons that heavily innervate the striatum and cortical areas bilaterally. Their extensive cortico-cortical and cortico-striatal connectivity enables sensorimotor integration within the telencephalon, but their role in motor control remains poorly understood. Here, we used a chemogenetic approach to explore the role of intratelencephalic neurons in spontaneous locomotor activity.

Background And Objectives: Transient ischemic attack (TIA) is associated with a higher short-term incidence of stroke. However, long-term data on this association are lacking. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the long-term incidence of ischemic stroke after TIA according to ABCD score and to identify factors associated with stroke after TIA.

Background And Objective: While all types of vitamin D metabolites are bound to vitamin D binding protein and albumin leaving only a small fraction in its free active form, only serum concentrations of total 25-hydroxy vitamin D (25OHD) are used to determine vitamin D status in clinical practice. This study aimed to describe the association of total 25-hydroxy vitamin D (25OHD), calculated free 25OHD, and free 25OHD% (free 25OHD × 100 %/total 25OHD) with mineral, bone, and metabolic variables and assess the impact of cholecalciferol supplementation.
Research Design And Methods: Secondary data from a single-center, double-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial (NCT01304927) in 307 infertile men.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive, incurable disease associated with smoking and advanced age, ranking as the third leading cause of death worldwide. DNA damage and loss of the central metabolite nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) may contribute to both aging and COPD, presenting a potential avenue for interventions. In this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, we treated patients with stable COPD (n = 40) with the NAD precursor nicotinamide riboside (NR) for 6 weeks and followed-up 12 weeks later.

Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is one of the leading causes of young-onset dementia before age 65, typically manifesting as abnormal behavior (in behavioral variant FTD) or language impairment (in primary progressive aphasia). Although FTD affects all populations across the globe, knowledge regarding the pathophysiology and genetics derives primarily from studies conducted in North America and Western Europe. Globally, biomedical research for FTD is hindered by variable access to diagnosis, discussed in this group's earlier article, and by reduced access to expertise, funding, and infrastructure.

Introduction & Objectives: Treatment with daylight photodynamic therapy (dPDT) of actinic keratosis (AK) is associated with local skin reactions (LSR), which may affect patients' quality of life and treatment acceptability. This study explores the potential of a prebiotic and panthenol-containing Dermocosmetic Cream (DC) to enhance tolerance and mitigate post-dPDT induced LSR in the treatment of AKs.
Materials & Methods: This randomized controlled, intra-individual trial included 20 patients with ≥10 AKs in two symmetrical areas on their face or décolleté, treated with a single session of artificial dPDT.

Allogenic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) with myeloablative conditioning traditionally requires 30 days of hospitalization after stem cell infusion. However, advancements in supportive and prophylactic care have allowed for a trend toward outpatient management of allo-HCT, potentially leading to improved patient quality of life and increased cost-effectiveness of the procedure. In 2014, fludarabine and treosulfan (FluTreo) conditioning was introduced as a myeloablative regimen with reduced toxicity at Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet (CUH).

Introduction: Health systems are confronted with not only the growing worldwide childhood obesity epidemic but also associated comorbidities. These subsequently cause variations in distinct metabolic pathways, leading to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). The aim of this evidence map is to systematically evaluate the evidence and to identify research gaps on glucagon-induced amino acid (AA) turnover and its metabolic interaction with MASLD.

Glycosaminoglycans are often deprioritized as targets for synthetic immunotherapy due to the complexity of glyco-epitopes and limited options for obtaining specific subtype binding. Solid tumors express proteoglycans that are modified with oncofetal chondroitin sulfate (CS), a modification normally restricted to the placenta. Here, we report the design and functionality of transient chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells with selectivity to oncofetal CS.

The diagnostic accuracy of handheld ultrasound (HHUS) devices operated by newly certified operators for pneumonia is unknown. This multicenter diagnostic accuracy study included patients prospectively suspected of pneumonia from February 2021 to February 2022 in four emergency departments. The index test was a 14-zone focused lung ultrasound (FLUS) examination, with consolidation with air bronchograms as diagnostic criteria for pneumonia.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between baseline androgen concentrations and outcomes in men with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) treated with first-line enzalutamide or abiraterone acetate plus prednisone (AAP).
Materials And Methods: We previously randomized men with mCRPC to enzalutamide or AAP to compare side-effects and measured androgen concentrations. In this post-hoc analysis, patients were grouped in quartiles (Q) based on their serum androgen values.

Neuroimaging plays a crucial role in understanding brain structure and function, but the lack of transparency, reproducibility, and reliability of findings is a significant obstacle for the field. To address these challenges, there are ongoing efforts to develop reporting checklists for neuroimaging studies to improve the reporting of fundamental aspects of study design and execution. In this review, we first define what we mean by a neuroimaging reporting checklist and then discuss how a reporting checklist can be developed and implemented.
