Tyrosine sulfation, an understudied but crucial post-translational modification, cannot be directly detected in conventional nanoflow liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (nanoLC-MS/MS) due to the extreme sulfate lability. Here, we report the detection of sulfate-retaining fragments from LC-electron capture dissociation (ECD) and nanoLC-electron transfer higher energy collision dissociation (EThcD). Sulfopeptide candidates were identified by Proteome Discoverer and MSFragger analysis of nanoLC-HCD MS/MS data and added to inclusion lists for LC-ECD or nanoLC-EThcD MS/MS.

Background: Ischemic injury is a common mechanism in both ischemic stroke (IS) and acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9), an endopeptidase that degrades extracellular matrix, is important in the pathogenesis of IS. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the association between the SNP rs17576 in MMP-9 gene with (1) the risk and severity of acute ischemic stroke in Saudi Arab individuals with recent acute coronary syndrome, and (2) the risk of acute coronary syndrome in Saudi Arab individuals without ischemic stroke.

Radiation-induced cognitive impairment has recently fueled scientific interest with an increasing prevalence of cancer patients requiring whole brain irradiation (WBI) in their treatment algorithm. Saxagliptin (SAXA), a dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV) inhibitor, has exhibited competent neuroprotective effects against varied neurodegenerative disorders. Hence, this study aimed at examining the efficacy of SAXA in alleviating WBI-induced cognitive deficits.

Introduction: Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) are a rare group of tumors originating from neuroendocrine cells in various organs. They include neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) and neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs), which differ in biological behavior and prognosis. NETs are usually well-differentiated and slow-growing, while NECs are poorly differentiated and more aggressive.

Objective: To compare the effect of submucosal cryotherapy using cold saline to dexamethasone sodium phosphate and diclofenac sodium injections on substance P and interleukin 6 release in experimentally induced pulpal inflammation in rabbits' molar teeth.
Methodology: Fifteen rabbits were randomly classified into 3 groups according to the submucosal injection given: cold saline, dexamethasone sodium phosphate, and diclofenac sodium. A split-mouth design was adopted, the right mandibular molars were experimental, and the left molars served as the control without injections.

Background: Hydrocarbon pollution stemming from petrochemical activities is a significant global environmental concern. Bioremediation, employing microbial chitinase-based bioproducts to detoxify or remove contaminants, presents an intriguing solution for addressing hydrocarbon pollution. Chitooligosaccharides, a product of chitin degradation by chitinase enzymes, emerge as key components in this process.

In this prospective, interventional phase 1 study for individuals with advanced sarcoma, we infused autologous HER2-specific chimeric antigen receptor T cells (HER2 CAR T cells) after lymphodepletion with fludarabine (Flu) ± cyclophosphamide (Cy): 1 × 10 T cells per m after Flu (cohort A) or Flu/Cy (cohort B) and 1 × 10 CAR T cells per m after Flu/Cy (cohort C). The primary outcome was assessment of safety of one dose of HER2 CAR T cells after lymphodepletion. Determination of antitumor responses was the secondary outcome.

Status epilepticus (SE), the most severe form of epilepsy, leads to brain damage. Uncertainty persists about the mechanisms that lead to the pathophysiology of epilepsy and the death of neurons. Overloading of intracellular iron ions has recently been identified as the cause of a newly recognized form of controlled cell death called ferroptosis.

Purpose: The objective of this systematic review was to determine a minimum serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25OHD) threshold based on the risk of having rickets in young children. This work was commissioned by the WHO and FAO within the framework of the update of the vitamin D requirements for children 0-3 years old.
Methods: A systematic search of Embase was conducted to identify studies involving children below 4 years of age with serum 25OHD levels and radiologically confirmed rickets, without any restriction related to the geographical location or language.

Gastric ulceration is a prevalent worldwide clinical presentation due to altered gastric defense mechanisms. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are one of the common causes of gastric ulcers mediated by the release of inflammatory mediators. The study aimed to investigate the potential protective effect of soyasaponin I (soya) against diclofenac (DIC)-induced gastric ulcer in rats and to highlight the underlying mechanisms.

Background: A myriad of therapeutic modalities for alopecia areata are available; however, none is of high level of evidence, creating an immense need for the evaluation of other treatment modalities, of which topical sodium valproate is of potential role via proposed decrease in beta-catenin breakdown, despite its well-known side effect of hair fall as an oral therapy.
Objective: Evaluating the efficacy and the safety of sodium valproate (SV)-loaded nanospanlastics, in comparison to topical corticosteroids, this is the currently available gold standard topical treatment for patchy AA.
Methodology: A total of 66 patients with patchy AA were randomly assigned to receive either topical mometasone furoate lotion or topical SV applied twice daily to all patches except a control patch, which was left untreated.

Introduction: Although there are some recommendations in the literature on the assessments that should be performed in children on recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) therapy, the level of consensus on these measurements is not clear. The objective of the current study was to identify the minimum dataset (MDS) that could be measured in a routine clinical setting across the world, aiming to minimise burden on clinicians and improve quality of data collection.
Methods: This study was undertaken by the growth hormone (GH) scientific study group in GloBE-Reg, a new project that has developed a common registry platform that can support long-term safety and effectiveness studies of drugs.
