Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a leading cause of chronic kidney disease worldwide, and podocyte ferroptosis plays a crucial role in its pathogenesis. Hirsutine (HS) reduces blood glucose levels and improve insulin resistance in diabetic mice, suggesting its potential use in diabetes treatment. Here, we established a db/db mouse model of DKD and administered HS for 8 weeks.

Circulating lipids and changes in lipid profiles have long been associated with the development of stroke but causal relationships remain unclear. In this study, we aimed to assess the causal relationships between lipid species and multiple stroke phenotypes to inform stroke prevention and treatment strategies. We conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis using data from genome-wide association studies.

Objective: Arteriosclerosis plays a significant role as one of the key pathological mechanisms underlying Diabetic Kidney Disease (DKD). The estimated Pulse Wave Velocity (ePWV) is used to assess arteriosclerosis, and is considered a potential clinical surrogate for pulse wave velocity. There are no studies on ePWV in relation to DKD.

Background: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) constitutes the most prevalent chronic liver disease worldwide. Progression to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), the immune cell reservoir within the liver undergoes remodeling, exacerbating liver inflammation and potentially leading to liver fibrosis. Jiangtang Qingre Formula (JQF) is an effective prescription for the clinical treatment of NAFLD.

At present, the relationship between the intake of antioxidants in food and the mortality rate of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), especially the association with the mortality rate of specific causes, is not clear. This study included 6379 adult CKD patients from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2001-2018). Use the Cox proportional hazards model, restricted cubic spline (RCS) model, and stratified and sensitivity analysis to evaluate the relationship between the Composite Dietary Antioxidant Index (CDAI) and mortality in patients with chronic kidney disease.

This study evaluates the relationship between CVH levels from LE8 and mortality risk, considering biological aging's role. Using data from the NHANES non-CVD adult population, CVH scores were categorized as low (< 50), moderate (50-79), and high (≥ 80) per AHA guidelines.

Introduction/objectives: Sjogren's syndrome (SS) is a chronic inflammatory and difficult-to-treat autoimmune disease. Timosaponin AIII (TAIII), a plant-derived steroidal saponin, effectively inhibits cell proliferation, induces apoptosis, and exhibits anti-inflammatory properties. This study explored the mechanisms of action of TAIII in SS treatment by studying gut microbiota and short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) using fecal metabolomics.
