Highly migratory pelagic sharks have the potential to serve as carriers of particle contamination in a vast three-dimensional space. We investigate the occurrence, abundance and characteristics of plastic and non-plastic particles in the scroll intestine of the blue shark (Prionace glauca), one of the most abundant pelagic shark species worldwide. We detected both plastic and non-plastic particles in all sections of the intestine, with the posterior region exhibiting the highest concentration.

Frog virus 3-like ranaviruses (FV3-like viruses), particularly FV3 (Frog virus 3), represent typical species within the genus Ranavirus, primarily infecting amphibians and reptiles, thereby posing serious threats to aquaculture and biodiversity conservation. This study investigated the edible quality differences in muscle segments of silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) and established an evaluation model for processing suitability. The results showed that steamed dorsal meat had the highest levels of total free amino acids, umami amino acids, and total volatile compounds. Fried tail meat exhibited the highest content of sweet amino acids and equivalent umami concentration (EUC) values, which were superior in all fried meat parts compared to those that were steamed.

In recent years, marine natural products (MNPs) have emerged as crucial sources of lead compounds for the advancement of anti-inflammatory drugs due to their abundant diversity, complexity, and distinctiveness. Inflammatory microenvironments (IMEs) are pervasive pathological features in the etiology of various chronic diseases, referring to the localized milieu or ecosystem where inflammatory responses occur, and they play a pivotal role in the onset and progression of inflammatory diseases. Uncontrolled IMEs can lead to dysregulation of inflammatory mediators within signaling pathways, thereby exerting detrimental effects on human health and even contributing to the development of inflammatory diseases such as cancer.

This review explores the composition and abundance of gut bacterial communities in key aquaculture fish groups-cyprinids, ictalurids (catfish), salmonids, and cichlids (tilapia)-alongside the model organism zebrafish, across diverse geographic regions. The findings highlight environmental habitats and host species as primary determinants of gut microbiome structure, offering a global perspective on these microbial communities.
