Introduction Although metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is becoming more common in individuals with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), it is still unknown how this condition relates to postoperative complications of HCC. While hepatitis B/C virus (HBV/HCV) infection and alcohol use are primary risk factors, MAFLD has emerged as a significant contributor to HCC incidence. Understanding the prognostic impact of MAFLD on HCC outcomes, particularly post-radical resection, is essential.

Department of Community Health Sciences, College of Applied Medical Sciences, King Saud University, Riyadh, 11433, Saudi Arabia.

Background: Viral hepatitis is the major contributor to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Studies indicated that the co-infection of hepatitis C and hepatitis B virus also prompts liver damage progression. Therefore, in the present study, the prevalence of HCV-HBV co-infection and the impact of HCV-HBV co-infection on the progression of liver damage was evaluated amongst the HCV-infected patients in Pakistan.

Energy and Process Engineering Division, School of Mechanical, Medical and Process Engineering, Science and Engineering Faculty, Queensland University of Technology, 2 George Street, Brisbane City, Queensland 4001, Australia.

The strategic design and fabrication of efficient electrocatalysts are pivotal for advancing the field of electrochemical water splitting (EWS). To enhance EWS performance, integrating non-noble transition metal catalysts through a cooperative double metal incorporation strategy is important and offers a compelling alternative to conventional precious metal-based materials. This study introduces a novel, straightforward, single-step process for fabricating a bimetallic MoCo catalyst integrated within a three-dimensional (3D) nanoporous network of N, P-doped carbon nitride derived from a self-contained precursor.

Introduction: An efficient and four-component one-pot facile synthesis of tetra-substituted imidazole is achieved by cyclo-condensation reaction of benzil with subsequent successive substitution of aromatic aldehydes, ester substituted amine and ammonium acetate via refluxing the mixture for almost two hours at 140°C.

Method: The ending point of the understudy reaction was examined by TLC after regular intervals. Synthesized 1,2,4-tetrasubstituted imidazoles were characterized by physical data and the structural features were analyzed using spectroscopic techniques such as FTIR, NMR and elemental analysis.

The Lie group method is a powerful technique for obtaining analytical solutions for various nonlinear differential equations. This study aimed to explore the behavior of nonlinear elastic wave equations and their underlying physical properties using Lie group invariants. We derived eight-dimensional symmetry algebra for the (3+1)-dimensional nonlinear elastic wave equation, which was used to obtain the optimal system.

The study has investigated the implications of three estimation methods, namely L-moments, Maximum Likelihood, and Maximum Product of Spacing (MPS), for fitting the four-parameter Kappa Distribution (KAPD) in extreme value analysis using Monte Carlo simulations. The accuracy of the estimates has been evaluated using root mean square error (RMSE) and bias. The paper also includes an analysis of the effect of the estimation method on the estimated quantiles considering a real-life example of annual maximum peak flows and the Generalized Normal Distribution as the error distribution.

School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, University of Leicester, University Road, Leicester LE1 7RH, UK.

Visual analysis of peripheral blood smear slides using medical image analysis is required to diagnose red blood cell (RBC) morphological deformities caused by anemia. The absence of a complete anaemic RBC dataset has hindered the training and testing of deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for computer-aided analysis of RBC morphology. We introduce a benchmark RBC image dataset named Anemic RBC (AneRBC) to overcome this problem.

This study introduces a UiO-66-NH/Tannic acid/Polyvinylidene fluoride (UTP) composite membrane for efficient oil-water separation. Pristine polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes, due to their hydrophobic nature, tend to foul during oil-in-water emulsion separation. By incorporating the metal-organic framework (MOF) UiO-66-NH and stabilizing it with tannic acid (TA) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), the membrane's hydrophilicity and antifouling properties were significantly enhanced.
