Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs), which encompasses Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, is a chronic inflammatory condition associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer (CRC). Small RNAs have been linked to various illnesses, including IBD and CRC. These small RNAs also serve as potential biomarkers for these diseases, offering a cutting‑edge approach to investigating possible treatments.

Objective: Construction of a neuroblastoma (NB) prognostic predictive model based on pyroptosis-related genes (PRGs) to improve individualized management of NB patients.
Methods: The NB cohort GSE49711 was obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, and a total of 498 patients were enrolled into the study, which were randomized into a training set and a test set at a ratio of 1:1, with 250 patients in the training set and 248 patients in the test set. A risk prediction model was constructed using the training set, and the GSE49711 cohort and test set were used as internal validation to verify the reliability of the model.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a heterogeneous disease with high recurrence and mortality. It is well known that a large proportion of HCCs are caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. In particular, the HBV X protein (HBX), a multifunctional molecule produced by the virus, plays a leading role in hepatocarcinogenesis.

Background: Tumor-associated macrophages play a critical role in the progression and immune response of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Our study aimed to explore the characteristics of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) in TNBC, construct a risk signature associated with TAM clusters, and verify its relationship with prognosis and immune-related characteristics.
Methods: Firstly, we identified four TAM clusters and determined prognosis-related clusters in TNBC based on the single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data.

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), a complex disease that is increasingly prevalent due to population aging, pose significant challenges in its treatment. The present study utilized the HFpEF rat model and H9C2 cells as research subjects to thoroughly investigate the potential mechanisms of alarin in protecting cardiac function in HFpEF. The study shows that under HFpEF conditions, oxidative stress significantly increases, leading to myocardial structural damage and dysfunction of calcium ion channels, which ultimately impairs diastolic function.

The prevalent histological variant within differentiated thyroid carcinoma is papillary thyroid carcinoma, also known as PTC. The study investigated the clinical performance of serum hsa_circ_0001955 in predicting the prognosis of PTC treated with radical thyroidectomy and iodine 131 nail clearance. The relative expression of serum circ_0001955 of PTC patients was detected before and after accepting radical thyroidectomy combined with 131I thyroid remnant ablation by RT-qPCR.

Batroxobin, isolated from Bothrops moojeni, is a defibrinogenating agent used as a thrombin-like serine protease against fibrinogen for improving microcirculation. Here, we investigated whether, and if so, how batroxobin acts in concert with NK cells in terms of anti-tumor effects. CD3+/CD56+ NK cells were isolated and cultured from C57BL/6 mouse spleen.

Normal-functioning endothelium is crucial to maintaining vascular homeostasis and inhibiting the development and progression of cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis. Exercise training has been proven effective in regulating arterial endothelial function, and the effect of this regulation is closely related to exercise intensity and the status of arterial endothelial function. With this review, we investigated the effects of the exercise of different intensity on the function of arterial endothelium and the underlying molecular biological mechanisms.

Background: Non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) is the most prevalent type of bladder cancer, typically associated with a favorable prognosis and a risk of recurrence during the follow-up period. Inflammatory markers have been used to predict prognosis in various cancer types. The aim of this study was to explore the prognostic value of the readily accessible inflammatory markers, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), in NMIBC.

is a common parasite of rats and mice, but is very rare in humans with cases reported from various parts of the world. Here, we reported a case of infection involving both the respiratory and digestive tracts in a 49-year-old male patient whose initial imaging and symptoms were strikingly similar to pneumonia. Since no disease-causing pathogens were found during routine examinations, we considered respiratory infection by specific pathogens before metagenomic next-generation sequencing of broncho-alveolar lavage fluid confirmed the diagnosis of .

Purpose: Radiotherapy (RT) is the primary treatment for prostate cancer (PCa); however, the emergence of castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) often leads to treatment failure and cancer-related deaths. In this study, we aimed to explore the use of microwave hyperthermia (MW-HT) to sensitize PCa to RT and investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms.
Methods: We developed a dedicated MW-HT heating setup, created an and MW-HT + RT treatment model for CRPC.
Objectives: To establish a three-dimensional finite element model of the upper palate, pharyngeal cavity, and levator veli palatini muscle in patients with unilateral complete cleft palate, simulate two surgical procedures that the two-flap method and Furlow reverse double Z method, observe the stress distribution of the upper palate soft tissue and changes in pharyngeal cavity area after different surgical methods, and verify the accuracy of the model by reconstructing and measuring the levator veli palatini muscle.
Materials And Methods: Mimics, Geomagic, Ansys, and Hypermesh were applied to establish three-dimensional finite element models of the pharyngeal cavity, upper palate, and levator veli palatini muscle in patients with unilateral complete cleft palate. The parameters including length, angle, and cross-sectional area of the levator veli palatini muscle etc.
