Biological neural circuits demonstrate exceptional adaptability to diverse tasks by dynamically adjusting neural connections to efficiently process information. However, current two-dimension materials-based neuromorphic hardware mainly focuses on specific devices to individually mimic artificial synapse or heterosynapse or soma and encoding the inner neural states to realize corresponding mock object function. Recent advancements suggest that integrating multiple two-dimension material devices to realize brain-like functions including the inter-mutual connecting assembly engineering has become a new research trend.

Urticaria is characterized by transient itchy symptoms on the skin, usually accompanied by swelling, which is caused by mast cell activation leading to increased vascular permeability and dilation of the dermis. Urticaria involves recurrent activation of mast cells, T cells, eosinophils, and other immune cells around lesioned venules, with complex regulatory systems affecting mast cell functions, potentially contributing to urticaria pathogenesis. The direct causal relationship between immune cells and urticaria is currently unclear.

Background: Renal fibrosis is a key process in the progression from acute kidney injury (AKI) to chronic kidney disease (CKD), while the intricate mechanisms of renal fibrosis remain obscure. While the signal-transducing adaptor protein 2 (STAP2) was well-studied for its notable function in inflammation and immune-related disorders, its specific implication in renal fibrosis remains unclear. This study assessed the mechanism by which STAP2 could promote the progression of renal fibrosis.

Puerarin Ameliorates Ferroptosis in Neuronal Injury Through the PI3K/AKT Signaling Pathway.

Nutr Cancer

January 2025

Department of Clinical Laboratory, Huangshi Central Hospital, Affiliated Hospital of Hubei Polytechnic University, Hubei, People's Republic of China.

Ferroptosis plays an important role in the pathogenesis of neuronal damage, generally mediated by iron and lipid peroxidation. In the present study, we measured the protective effects of puerarin against corticosterone-induced neuronal injury PI3K/AKT-mediated activation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2). After exposing corticosterone-treated PC12 cells to indicated compounds, we measured the key regulators of ferroptosis (ferritin, SLC7A11, and Ptgs2), ferroptosis events (levels of iron, ROS, MDA, and GSH), and the PI3K/AKT/Nrf2 axis.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study examines the link between sarcopenia (loss of muscle mass) and cognitive impairment in older adults, focusing on how muscle characteristics like appendicular lean mass (ALM) and walking pace affect cognitive performance.
  • - Findings from genetic analyses reveal a strong causal relationship where higher ALM and faster walking pace correlate with better cognitive function, while low grip strength does not show a significant association.
  • - The relationship appears to be bidirectional, with cognitive function also influencing muscle traits, suggesting that maintaining muscle health may be vital for cognitive well-being in older individuals.

Background: Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors worldwide, and surgical resection is one of the main ways to treat gastric cancer. However, the immune status of postoperative patients is crucial for prognosis and survival, and immune cells play an important role in this process. Therefore, it is helpful to understand the immune status of postoperative patients by evaluating the levels of peripheral blood immune cells, especially total T cells (CD3+), helper T cells (CD3+CD4+), and suppressor T cells (CD3+CD8+), and its relationship to survival.
