Gastrointestinal schwannomas are uncommon stromal tumors of the intestinal tract and colon schwannomas are extremely rare. We report a rare case of ascending colon schwannoma with associated synchronous adenocarcinoma of the sigmoid colon. A 68-year-old man presented with a 20-day history of bleeding per rectum.

Atypical polypoid adenomyoma (APA) is a rare, benign lesion. The tumor occurs in nulliparous women aged 22-48 years (average 33 years) and it has been suggested as being related to prolonged estrogenic stimulation. We describe a case of a 72-year-old woman who presented at our hospital with persistent, worsening urinary incontinence and pelvic pain.

Despite all major breakthroughs in recent years of research concerning the complex events that lead to cancer expression and metastasis, we are not yet able to effectively treat cancer that has spread to vital organs. The various clinical phases originating from cancer diagnosis through treatment and prognosis require a comprehensive understanding of these events, to utilise pre-symptomatic, minimally invasive and targeted cancer management techniques. Current imaging modalities such as ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and gamma scintigraphy facilitate the pre-operative study of tumours, but they have been rendered unable to visualise cancer in early stages, due to their intrinsic limitations.

Colorectal cancer remains the second leading cause of death from malignant disease. Despite improvements in the treatment modalities offered to patients, more than half of the operated patients die from the disease. The most common presenting symptoms of colonic carcinoma are changes in bowel habits, bleeding, abdominal pain, abdominal mass, stools mixed with mucus or not, weight loss, anorexia, and other characteristics related to metastasis.

Cutaneous apocrine gland carcinoma, a subtype of sweat gland carcinoma, is a very rare malignancy, and only few cases have been reported in the literature. Many of these carcinomas are indolent and slowly developing, but some are rapidly progressive. The treatment of choice is wide local excision with clear margins, with or without lymph node dissection.

Introduction: Cellular angiofibroma is a benign vascular neoplasm that typically arises in the paratesticular region in men and is easily confused with inguinal or scrotal hernia.

Case Presentation: We present a case of a cellular angiofibroma arising from the spermatic cord of a 74-year-old Caucasian man. Initially, the lesion was confused with a scrotal hernia, but imaging revealed a subcutaneous, inhomogeneous, but well-circumscribed lesion to the surrounding tissues with rich vasculature.

The rarest subtype of malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) is the inflammatory type, which due to its peculiar clinical presentation may mimic an infectious process such as an abscess. The rarity of this disease and the unique features of its presentation may mislead the surgeon with consequent catastrophic results for the patient. In this study, a case report of a 65-year-old female patient with a soft-tissue inflammatory MFH presenting as a lumbar abscess and a review of the current literature are presented.

Purpose: The present study was carried out to establish the accuracy of modern ultrasonographic techniques in the follow up of patients with superficial bladder carcinoma and to evaluate the patients tolerability of cystoscopy.

Methods: Thirty-three patients with a history of superficial bladder carcinoma under active surveillance were initially examined using transabdominal ultrasound followed in the same day by cystoscopy.

Results: Fourteen out of the 33 subjects were found to have bladder carcinoma recurrence on cystoscopy.

Malignant mixed müllerian tumour of the fallopian tube is an extremely rare lesion and to date only approximately 50 cases have been reported. The tumour is seldom distinguished preoperatively from other more common lesions or ovarian cancer. We report a case of a 60-year-old woman who presented to our hospital with pelvic pain.

Pure Sertoli cell tumor (SCT) is a rare sex cord tumor and a subtype of Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors according to the WHO Classification. They lack a Leydig cell component and do not contain the immature neoplastic stroma found in the neoplasms of the Sertoli-Leydig cell category. The age of the patients ranges between two and 79 years.

Sarcomatoid carcinoma of the prostate is a rare variant of prostatic cancer, with less than 100 cases reported in the literature up to date. Tumors are most commonly composed of an admixture of both malignant glandular and spindle cell elements. The sarcomatoid component can vary from 5 to 99%.

Introduction: Clinical observation of larger prostate glands in men with diabetes mellitus type 2 led some investigators to hypothesize that an association between these two conditions exists. In fact, both diseases are very common in men as they age and seem to be sharing similar epidemiologic features. Several studies examining the above hypothesis were yielded.

Synchronous endometrioid carcinoma of the uterine corpus and ovary is an uncommon but well recognized event. Diagnosis as either a separate independent primary or as a metastatic tumor requires careful consideration of a number of gross and histological features. These features illustrate the criteria helpful in distinguishing independent primaries from metastatic carcinomas which have a different therapeutic implication.

Hepatoid carcinoma (HCO) is a rare ovarian tumor and is thought to be a different subtype from hepatoid-type yolk sac tumor based on its pathologic features. In contrast to hepatoid yolk sac tumor in which the patients are usually young, patients with HCO are elderly with a peak incidence during the sixth decade of life. None of the patients with HCO have had gonadal dysgenesis or recognizable germ cell components within the tumors.

Malignant adenomyoepithelioma (MAME) of the breast is a rare tumor characterized on the basis of histologic, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural features by malignant proliferation of the epithelial and myoepithelial cells. We report a case of an 80-year-old woman with malignant adenomyoepithelioma of the breast, one of the oldest patients described up to today. A primary tumor in the left breast grew within a short period of time.

We describe a case of gastric carcinoid and inflammatory fibroid polyp concomitant with a composite tumor of the gastric antrum composed of poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma - endocrine carcinoma with immunohistochemical documentation of endocrine and non endocrine differentiation in a 67-year-old man with atrophic gastritis and intestinal metaplasia. When gastrectomy was carried out, two lymph nodes along the greater curvature harbored metastasis from carcinoid. The same occurrence is reported in several cases in the literature, which suggests that the association of gastric carcinoid to adenocarcinoma could point to the malignant nature of carcinoid.

Glomus tumors are relatively uncommon benign neoplasms, most common in the skin and subcutaneous tissue, but can also occur in the viscera, most often in the stomach. Preoperative diagnosis, when the tumor occurs in the stomach, seems difficult but is important, since glomus tumors of the stomach are essentially benign and amenable to conservative excision, contrary to aggressive gastric neoplasms. We describe the case of a 75-year-old man presented to the emergency department with gastrointestinal bleeding and epigastric pain.
