The abundance and behaviour of all hematopoietic components display daily oscillations, supporting the involvement of circadian clock mechanisms. The daily variations of immune cell functions, such as trafficking between blood and tissues, differentiation, proliferation, and effector capabilities are regulated by complex intrinsic (cell-based) and extrinsic (neuro-hormonal, organism-based) mechanisms. Background: Disturbances of protein O-GlcNAcylation have pointed out as a possible link between altered brain metabolism and cognitive decline. We previously demonstrated the disruption of O-GlcNAcylation homeostasis, as an effect of altered OGT and OGA regulatory mechanism, and we confirmed the relevance of O-GlcNAcylation in the appearance of Alzheimer disease hallmarks in the brain of a murine model of Down syndrome (DS). Familial encephalopathy with neuroserpin inclusion bodies (FENIB) is a neurodegenerative pathology caused by accumulation of mutant neuroserpin (NS) polymers inside the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) of neurons, leading to cellular toxicity and neuronal death. Ventricular septal defect (VSD) is a serious complication of myocardial infarction (MI), with its global incidence significantly reduced in recent years due to advances in coronary reperfusion techniques.
