Epilepsy with eyelid myoclonia (EM) or Jeavons syndrome (JS) is an epileptic syndrome related to the spectrum of genetic generalized epilepsies (GGE). We report two untreated children on which EEGs were performed several hours after a generalized tonic-clonic seizure (GTCS). These showed a unilateral, nearly continuous posterior slowing.

Systematic review using GRADE of the impact of exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOCs), cleaning agents, mould/damp, pesticides on the risk of (i) new-onset asthma (incidence) and (ii) adverse asthma-related outcomes (impact). MEDLINE, EMBASE and Web of Science were searched for indoor pollutant exposure studies reporting on new-onset asthma and critical and important asthma-related outcomes. Ninety four studies were included: 11 for VOCs (7 for incidenceand 4 for impact), 25 for cleaning agents (7 for incidenceand 8 for impact), 48 for damp/mould (26 for incidence and 22 for impact) and 10 for pesticides (8 for incidence and 2 for impact).

Background: In this study, the early and mid-term outcomes of Omniflow II (LeMaitre Vascular, Inc., Burlington, MA, USA) biosynthetic graft in redo surgery in patients with critical limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) with no available autologous vein material were investigated with the aim to compare the outcomes obtained in "de novo" surgery versus redo surgery.
Methods: From January 2018 until December 2022, data of CLTI patients from 18 centers in Italy with no autologous vein material underwent infrainguinal bypass with Omniflow II biosynthetic graft were collected.

Air pollution is one of the biggest environmental threats for asthma. Its impact is augmented by climate change. To inform the recommendations of the EAACI Guidelines on the environmental science for allergic diseases and asthma, a systematic review (SR) evaluated the impact on asthma-related outcomes of short-term exposure to outdoor air pollutants (PM2.

Diagnostic delay (DD) is associated with poor radiological and quality of life outcomes in axial spondyloarthritis (ax-SpA) and ankylosing spondylitis (AS). The female (F) population is often misdiagnosed, as classification criteria were previously studied mostly in males (M). We conducted a systematic review to investigate (i) the difference in DD between the sexes, the impact of HLA*B27 and clinical and social factors (work and education) on this gap, and (ii) the possible influence of the year of publication (before and after the 2009 ASAS classification criteria), geographical region (Europe and Israel vs.

We describe a case of collodion baby diagnosed prenatally by ultrasound. Classic signs (ectropion, flattened nose, and eclabion) were detected on routine ultrasound at 21 weeks of gestation. At birth, the presence of collodion membrane was confirmed and subsequently, the diagnosis of an autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis due to compound heterozygosity of the TGM1 gene was made.

Background And Aims: International guidelines advise improving esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) quality in Western countries, where gastric cancer is still diagnosed in advanced stages. This nationwide study investigated some indicators for the quality of EGD performed in endoscopic centers in Italy.
Methods: Clinical, endoscopic, and procedural data of consecutive EGDs performed in one month in the participating centers were reviewed and collected in a specific database.

The potential role of the COVID-19 vaccine and infection to induce autoimmunity is currently underestimated despite the literature emphasizing arthralgia as a common adverse event. We aimed to study the impact of rheumatological complications post-COVID-19 (PC) and post-COVID-19 vaccine (PCV), comparing undifferentiated arthritis (UA) to Polymyalgia Rheumatica, Horton's Arteritis (PMR-HA) and isolated arthritis to UA with "connective-like" accompanying symptoms. We retrospectively included 109 patients with at least 6 months of follow-up, analyzing serum biomarkers, joint ultrasound (US), lung HRCT, DLCO, and HLA haplotypes.

Histopathological evaluation of lymph nodes in Merkel cell carcinoma has become crucial in progression estimation and treatment modification. This study was undertaken to determine the most sensitive immunohistochemical panel for detecting MCC nodal metastases. We included 56 patients with 102 metastatic MCC lymph nodes, which were tested with seven antibodies: cytokeratin (CKAE1/AE3), CK20, chromogranin A, synaptophysin, INSM1, SATB2, and neurofilament (NF).

Updated data on genital Mollicutes prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibility can help provide guidance for antibiotic stewardship and set up effective strategies for infection control policies. In this multicentre study, we assessed the prevalence and the resistance profile of (MH) and species (), analyzing data from 21,210 subjects who provided urogenital samples for Mollicutes detection by culture over a 5-year period (2017-2021) in two high-density urban areas in the North of Italy (, Bologna and Lecco). Overall prevalence of Mollicutes infection was 22.

Gastric adenocarcinoma (GC) and gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma represent frequent and severe diseases whose management has radically changed over the last 10 years. With the advent of second- and third-line standard therapies for metastatic GC patients in the 2010s, the molecular dismemberment of the disease and positive trials with immunotherapy and targeted agents will mark the 2020s. New treatment options have emerged in the neoadjuvant, adjuvant, and metastatic setting.

Introduction: The impact of COVID-19 pandemic represents a serious challenge for 'frail' patients' populations with inflammatory autoimmune systemic diseases such as systemic sclerosis (SSc). We investigated the prevalence and severity of COVID-19, as well the effects of COVID-19 vaccination campaign in a large series of SSc patients followed for the entire period (first 38 months) of pandemic.
Patients And Method: This prospective survey study included 1755 unselected SSc patients (186 M, 1,569F; mean age 58.

The indirect immunofluorescence assay on HEp-2 cells (HEp-2 IFA) is still considered the reference method to detect anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA) because of its high sensitivity and represents a relevant tool for the diagnosis of autoimmune rheumatic diseases. During the last decade, the International Consensus on ANA Patterns (ICAP) initiative promoted harmonization and understanding of HEp-2 IFA staining pattern nomenclature, as well as promoting their use in patient care by providing interpretation for HEp-2 IFA test results. In conjunction with a nationwide survey on the evolution of autoantibody diagnostics in autoimmune rheumatic diseases, we focused on the adherence of the Italian laboratories to the ICAP nomenclature analyzing its lights and shadows.
