: Lung ultrasound (LUS) is a tool of growing interest in Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) oligo- symptomatic ILD to avoid. : We aimed to evaluate (i) the prevalence of pleural (PLUS) and parenchymal (PAUS) abnormalities in LUS in the RA population and their possible correlation to biomarkers; (ii) the predictivity of gender, smoking habits, previous infections (past COVID-19 tuberculosis), and treatments; (iii) the differences in LUS between sexes. : We collected the data of 155 (15 early and 140 late) RA patients with mild respiratory symptoms, evaluating PLUS and PAUS, in fourteen lung areas and also summing the scores (LUS-T).

Treatment of IgE-mediated food allergy involves avoiding the food causing the allergic reaction. In association, an action plan for allergic reactions is indicated, sometimes including self-injectable adrenaline. In addition to these dietary and medical implications, there are two equally important ones: nutritional and psychosocial.

Background: Mortality in hemodialysis (HD) patients remains unacceptably high compared with that of the general population and despite the continuous improvement of dialysis techniques. This study aimed to assess the role of alkaline phosphatase serum levels on cardiovascular and overall mortality in the RISCAVID study cohort through a long follow-up period, looking for associations with known risk factors for poor outcome.
Methods: In June 2004, a prospective observational study was started focusing on the cardiovascular risk in hemodialysis patients who lived in the north-west area of Tuscany (RISCAVID, "RISchio CArdiovascolare nei pazienti afferenti all'Area Vasta In Dialisi").

Background: T-cell immune infiltrates are robust prognostic variables in localised colon cancer. Evaluation of prognosis using artificial intelligence is an emerging field. We evaluated whether machine learning analysis improved prediction of patient outcome in comparison with analysis of T cell infiltrate only or in association with clinical variables.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of protein-based tissue adhesive (Bioglue) in reducing time to haemostasis in patients undergoing peripheral vascular surgery.
Methods: From January to December 2021, 100 consecutive patients from 4 centres have been treated with open peripheral vascular surgery including upper and lower limb interventions. Patients have been allocated in each centre into control with no use of Bioglue (, 50 patients) or use of Bioglue (, 50 patients) by a block randomization method 10:10 until the required sample size was reached.

Background: Despite contributions provided by the recent clinical trials, several issues and challenges still remain unsolved in adjuvant colon cancer (CC). Hence, further studies should be planned to better refine risk assessment as well as to establish the optimal treatment strategy in the adjuvant setting. However, it is necessary to request adequate, contemporary and relevant variables and report them homogeneously in order to bring maximal information when analyzing their prognostic value.

Background: The severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronarovirus-2 associated still causes a significant number of deaths and hospitalizations mainly by the development of respiratory failure. We aim to validate lung ultrasound score in order to predict mortality and the severity of the clinical course related to the need of respiratory support.
Methods: In this prospective multicenter hospital-based cohort study, all adult patients with diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection, performed by real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction were included.

Objectives: to describe the results of a pilot population-based perinatal mortality surveillance system, with regards to stillbirths; to study maternal, obstetric, and foetal characteristics, evaluating risk factors and understanding causes.
Design: a cross-sectional study was conducted on incident cases of stillbirths collected by the surveillance system from July 2017 to June 2019 in three Italian Regions (Lombardy, Tuscany, and Sicily).
Setting And Participants: data on stillbirths, resulting from the in-hospital multidisciplinary audits, organised using the Significant Event Audit methodology, were analysed.

The mechanisms underlying the onset and progression of vasculitis remain poorly understood. This condition is characterized by damage to the vascular wall, recruitment of inflammatory cells, and subsequent structural remodeling, which are hallmarks of vasculitis. The histopathological classification of vasculitis relies on the size of the affected vessel and the predominant type of inflammatory cell involved - neutrophils in acute cases, lymphocytes in chronic conditions, and histiocytes in granulomatous forms.

Purpose Of Review: To delineate pertinent information regarding the application of molecular allergology within the realm of both genetic and epidemiological facets of allergic diseases.
Recent Findings: The emergence of molecular allergy has facilitated the comprehension of the biochemical characteristics of allergens originating from diverse sources. It has allowed for the exploration of sensitization trajectories and provided novel insights into the influence of genetics and environmental exposure on the initiation and development of allergic diseases.

Objective: This study aimed to compare two commercially available off the shelf branched endografts for thoraco-abdominal aortic aneurysm (TAAA) repair, namely the E-nside (Artivion) and Zenith t-Branch (Cook Medical) devices.
Methods: This multicentre retrospective study (2020 - 2023) included patients treated by branched endovascular aortic repair (BEVAR) for TAAA using the inner branched E-nside or the outer branched t-Branch. Endpoints were 30 day technical success and major adverse events (MAEs) as well as one year freedom from target vessel instability and main endograft instability.

Background: eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) is a rare multisystem inflammatory disease characterized by asthma, eosinophilia and granulomatous or vasculitic involvement of various organs. While the eye is uncommonly affected in patients with EGPA, multiple ophthalmic manifestations have been reported, which can result in serious visual impairment without timely treatment.
Case Report: we report the case of a 79-year-old woman with a history of asthma and nasal polyps who presented with low-grade fever, mild alteration of mental status, and fatigue.

(1) : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory joint disease, primarily characterized by pain. A significant proportion of patients report symptoms suggestive of neuropathic pain. The objectives of this study were to investigate the presence of an increased cross-sectional area (CSA) of the palmar digital nerves by ultrasound in patients with active synovitis of the metacarpophalangeal joints and to identify potential predictors of such an increase.

Background: Increasingly hip replacements at young age exposes the patient to an increased risk of failure of the implant over the years. In case of failure, revision specific stems were designed to overcome bone loss. Modularity of these devices is an important resource for the surgeon as they allow the new implant to be better adapted to the patient's anatomy.

Background And Aims: Upper endoscopy (UE) procedures (EGD and ERCP) are an established standard of care in pediatric gastroenterology. The Pediatric Endoscopy Quality Improvement Network (PEnQuIN) recently published its pediatric-specific endoscopy quality guidelines. This study, initiated by the Italian Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, aims to evaluate the adherence of Italian pediatric endoscopy centers (PECs) to these established quality standards.

This article aims to detect lung cavitations using lung ultrasound (LUS) in a cohort of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) and correlate the findings with chest computed tomography (CT) and chest X-ray (CXR) to obtain LUS diagnostic sensitivity. Patients with suspected TB were enrolled after being evaluated with CXR and chest CT. A blinded radiologist performed LUS within 3 days after admission at the Infectious Diseases Department.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in post-transcriptional gene expression regulation and in mechanisms of cancer growth and metastases. In this light, miRNAs could be promising therapeutic targets and biomarkers in clinical practice. Therefore, we investigated if specific miRNAs and their target genes contribute to laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) development.
