Objective: To generate an up-to-date bundle to manage acute biliary pancreatitis using an evidence-based, artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted GRADE method.

Background: A care bundle is a set of core elements of care that are distilled from the most solid evidence-based practice guidelines and recommendations.

Methods: The research questions were addressed in this bundle following the PICO criteria.

Organization and Activity of Italian Echocardiographic Laboratories: A Survey of the Italian Society of Echocardiography and Cardiovascular Imaging.

Background: The Italian Society of Echocardiography and Cardiovascular Imaging (SIECVI) conducted a national survey to understand better how different echocardiographic modalities are used and accessed in Italy.

Methods: We analyzed echocardiography laboratory activities over a month (November 2022). Data were retrieved via an electronic survey based on a structured questionnaire, uploaded on the SIECVI website.

Lipomatous Atrial Septal Hypertrophy, an Unexpected Giant Interatrial Mass: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Lipomatous atrial septal hypertrophy (LASH) is a histological cardiac benign lesion finding with high prevalence in healthy population, usually detected during imaging procedures for other indications. Nevertheless, it could become clinically significant if it compromises venous return and diastolic left ventricular filling, up to becoming an anatomical substrate for atrial tachyarrhythmias. We present a case of LASH diagnosed in a 54-year-old female patient admitted to our emergency department after ground fall and collateral finding of positive blood cultures leading to transesophageal echocardiography.

Inter-center reproducibility of standard and advanced echocardiographic parameters in the EACVI-AFib echo registry.

Aim: we sought to test the inter-center reproducibility of 16 echo laboratories involved in the EACVI-Afib Echo Europe.

Methods: This was done on a dedicated setting of 10 patients with sinus rhythm (SR) and 10 with persistent atrial fibrillation (AF), collected by the Principal Investigator. Images and loops of echo-exams were stored and made available for labs.

Background: Severe complicated intra-abdominal sepsis (SCIAS) has an increasing incidence with mortality rates over 80% in some settings. Mortality typically results from disruption of the gastrointestinal tract, progressive and self-perpetuating bio-mediator generation, systemic inflammation, and multiple organ failure. A further therapeutic option may be open abdomen (OA) management with negative peritoneal pressure therapy (NPPT) to remove inflammatory ascites and attenuate the systemic damage from SCIAS, although there are definite risks of leaving the abdomen open whenever it might possibly be closed.

Different mechanisms of mitral regurgitation in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: A clinical case and literature review.

Background: Abnormalities of the mitral valve (MV) apparatus are typical features of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Intravenous thrombolysis in CADASIL: report of two cases and a systematic review.

Background: Cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL) is a genetic small vessel disease responsible for recurrent ischemic strokes, often with a progressive course leading to dementia and disability. On MRI, lacunes, microbleeds, and severe white matter alterations are typical features of the disease. In case of acute stroke, because of the bleeding risk associated with the disease and the doubtful efficacy of fibrinolytic treatment in a disease with poor evidence of thrombosis, the efficacy of intravenous thrombolysis remains unproven.

Isolated Pulmonic Valve Endocarditis.

The authors report a case of giant vegetations detected by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) on PV in a young patient, 33-year-old, with drug abuse history. Operative management of acute abdomen after bariatric surgery in the emergency setting: the OBA guidelines.

Background: Patients presenting with acute abdominal pain that occurs after months or years following bariatric surgery may present for assessment and management in the local emergency units. Robotic oncologic colorectal surgery with a new robotic platform (CMR Versius): hope or hype? A preliminary experience from a full-robotic case-series.

Background: The present case-series describes the first full-robotic colorectal resections performed with the new CMR Versius platform (Cambridge Medical Robotics Surgical, 1 Evolution Business Park, Cambridge, United Kingdom) by an experienced robotic surgeon.

Methods: In a period between July 2020 and December 2020, patients aged 18 years or older, who were diagnosed with colorectal cancer and were fit for minimally invasive surgery, underwent robotic colorectal resection with CMR Versius robotic platform at "Casa di Cura Cobellis" in Vallo della Lucania,Salerno, Italy. Three right colectomies, 2 sigmoid colectomies and 1 anterior rectal resection were performed.

The weekend effect on the provision of Emergency Surgery before and during the COVID-19 pandemic: case-control analysis of a retrospective multicentre database.

Introduction: The concept of "weekend effect", that is, substandard healthcare during weekends, has never been fully demonstrated, and the different outcomes of emergency surgical patients admitted during weekends may be due to different conditions at admission and/or different therapeutic approaches. Aim of this international audit was to identify any change of pattern of emergency surgical admissions and treatments during weekends. Furthermore, we aimed at investigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the alleged "weekend effect".

A Prospective Study to Evaluate the Effectiveness of Edoxaban for the Resolution of Left Atrial Thrombosis in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation.

Available evidence on left atrial (LA) thrombus dissolution in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) largely refers to the use of vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (VKAs), showing >50% thrombus resolution over a 4-week to 12-month treatment period. Available data on non-vitamin K antagonist anticoagulants (NOACs) in this setting are limited and derive from isolated case reports or observational small-sized investigations with dabigatran, rivaroxaban or apixaban. The aim of this study was to investigate the extent of thrombus resolution with edoxaban therapy in patients with AF and LA thrombosis.
