Although the fetal head position has traditionally been evaluated by digital examination (DE), it has a failure rate ranging between 20 and 70%; hence, intrapartum transabdominal ultrasonography (TUS) has become relevant. We aimed to evaluate the utility of the TUS to identify the fetal head positions in vacuum-assisted deliveries. We performed a prospective observational study including 101 pregnant patients in active labor who required a vacuum-assisted delivery.

Not using antibiotics after surgical treatment of diabetic foot osteomyelitis was not associated with failure of the surgery, recurrences, or limb loss. Antibiotics were given in doubtful complicated cases such as severe infections, cases with necrosis, foul-smelling lesions and patients requiring revascularization.

Currently, cell-free DNA (cfDNA) is offered as part of a contingent screening for patients with a first-trimester combined test (FCT) risk between 1/50 and 1/250. However, most aneuploidies are within the group of patients with a risk above 1/10. An observational, retrospective, and multi-centric study was carried out, to evaluate the theorical performance of lowering the cut-off point for the high-risk group from 1/50 to 1/10.

Background: Goal-directed haemodynamic therapy (GDHT) has been shown to reduce morbidity and mortality in high-risk surgical patients. However, there is little evidence of its efficacy in patients undergoing hip fracture surgery. This study aims to evaluate the effect of GDHT guided by non-invasive haemodynamic monitoring on perioperative complications in patients undergoing hip fracture surgery.

We aimed to validate the value of adding osteomyelitis (OM) to moderate and severe categories of diabetic foot infections (DFIs) classification. We conducted a prospective study of a cohort of 200 patients with moderate and severe infections. Variables associated with prognosis were need for any amputation, major amputation, need for hospitalization, length of hospitalization, length of antibiotic therapy, reinfection rate and infection-related mortality.

We aimed to validate the prognostic value of subclassifying moderate diabetic foot infections into two categories: moderate and moderate/severe. We conducted a prospective study of a cohort of 200 patients with moderate and severe infections. Moderate infections were subclassified after applying a previously published score.

Objective: Our main goal was to evaluate whether a treatment protocol based on the combination of mifepristone and misoprostol for second-trimester foetal loss was more effective than misoprostol monotherapy.
Methods: This was an observational, retrospective, cross-sectional two-centre study of women receiving treatment for second-trimester pregnancy loss. Patients were recruited in two centres that used different treatment protocols: combined mifepristone-misoprostol treatment or misoprostol monotherapy.

Hereditary transthyretin-mediated (hATTR) amyloidosis, or ATTRv amyloidosis, is a progressive disease, for which liver transplantation (LT) has been a long-standing treatment. However, disease progression continues post-LT. This Phase 3b, open-label trial evaluated efficacy and safety of patisiran in patients with ATTRv amyloidosis with polyneuropathy progression post-LT.

Introduction: The development of hysteroscopic techniques has led to an advance in submucous myoma treatment, offering a safe and effective minimally invasive alternative. Our objective was to compare the results of hysteroscopic myomectomy when using whether the mini-resectoscope or the MyoSure morcellator, as well as patient satisfaction after the procedure.
Material And Methods: A prospective, cross-sectional, observational study including 80 patients distributed into two groups: Mini-Resectoscope group (MRG) or MyoSure group (MSG), depending on the instrument used for the in-office hysteroscopic myomectomy.

Purpose: Survival in people living with HIV (PLWH) has increased and thus people are aging with HIV, increasing the frequency of multimorbidity and polypharmacy. This cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the prevalence of polypharmacy among PLWH who were on antiretroviral treatment and were followed in an outpatient setting by the pharmacy department of several hospitals across Spain. In addition, we aimed to evaluate factors associated with polypharmacy and treatment complexity among this population.

Background: Freezing rate of second-generation cryoballoon (CB) is a biophysical parameter that could assist pulmonary vein isolation. The aim of this study is to assess freezing rate (time to reach -30°C ([TT-30C]) as an early predictor of acute pulmonary vein isolation using the CB.
Methods: Biophysical data from CB freeze applications within a multicenter, nation-wide CB ablation registry were gathered.

Background: Fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) is a well-known marker of type-2 inflammation. FeNO is elevated in asthma and allergic rhinitis, with IgE sensitization as a major determinant.
Objective: We aimed to see whether there was an independent association between upper airway inflammatory disorders (UAID) and FeNO, after adjustment for asthma and sensitization, in a multi-centre population-based study.

Obtaining clean margins in patients who undergo surgical treatment for diabetic foot osteomyelitis (DFO) is recommended. We hypothesize that the rate of recurrence of the infection is not associated with positive margins, even when using a short-term duration of postoperative antibiotic treatment. We conducted a retrospective pilot study of patients who underwent surgery for DFO confirmed by histopathological analysis of the resected bone from August 1, 2020, to December 1, 2020.

Background: Age is a risk factor for COVID severity. Most studies performed in hospitalized patients with SARS-CoV2 infection have shown an over-representation of older patients and consequently few have properly defined COVID-19 in younger patients who require hospital admission. The aim of the present study was to analyze the clinical characteristics and risk factors for the development of respiratory failure among young (18 to 50 years) hospitalized patients with COVID-19.

Objective: To analyze the results of contingent screening for common aneuploidies at our center from June 2017 to June 2019.
Materials And Methods: Traditional screening tests were performed using a combination of biochemical markers and ultrasound measurements in the first and second trimesters to assess the risk of trisomies 21 (T21), 18 (T18) and 13 (T13). Cell-free DNA (cf-DNA) testing was offered (Harmony test) to pregnant women at high risk (>1/280 for T21 and > 1/150 for T13 and T18) and a normal early morphology scan.

Objective: Many studies have indicated that hospitalization and readmissions occur frequently, especially among people living with HIV. The aim of the study was to determine the effectiveness of a programmed and structured pharmaceutical intervention, based on "CMO PC model" to reduce the readmission rate in high-risk HIV patients.
Methods: This was a single-center, prospective study based on a structured health intervention conducted between March-2017 and March-2018 with 12 months of follow-up at outpatient pharmacy services.
