One of the useful features of 3D-printed specimens of recycled polyethylene terephthalate glycol (R-PETG) is the ability to repetitively develop free recovery as well as the work-generating, shape-memory effect. This behavior is enabled by the R-PETG's capacity to stiffen during cooling, thus allowing for a new temporary shape to be induced. Aiming to devise an explanation for the polymer's stiffening, in this study, the variation in some of the R-PETG's parameters during cooling are emphasized and discussed.

The service behavior of ductile metallic materials, when they have previously undergone technological plastic deformation, depends on the deformation conditions. These are represented, among others, by the deformation rate, the process temperature, the applied pressures, and the introduced stresses, as well as other process variables. The investigation of the mechanical properties obtained after plastic deformation is an important means that contains two characteristics: on the one hand, to determine to what extent the parameters of the technological manufacturing process influence the main characteristics of the final component; and, on the other hand, on the basis of these characteristics, to analyze whether the component subjected to plastic deformation will be able to function reliably and safely.

Hyaluronic acid, in the form of a gel or viscoelastic colloidal solution, is currently used for the viscosupplementation of joints affected by osteoarthritis, but its effectiveness is under debate in relation to newer alternatives. Based on meta-analytical arguments, the present article reinforces the opinion that there are still no decisive arguments for its complete replacement but for its use adapted to the peculiarities of the disease manifestation and of the patients. A "broad" comparison is first made with almost all alternatives studied in the last decade, and then a meta-regression study is performed to compare and predict the effect size induced by viscosupplementation therapy and its main challenger of clinical interest, the platelet-rich plasma treatment.

This work introduces a neuromorphic sensor (NS) based on force-sensing resistors (FSR) and spiking neurons for robotic systems. The proposed sensor integrates the FSR in the schematic of the spiking neuron in order to make the sensor generate spikes with a frequency that depends on the applied force. The performance of the proposed sensor is evaluated in the control of a SMA-actuated robotic finger by monitoring the force during a steady state when the finger pushes on a tweezer.
