Oxidative stress, arising from an imbalance between reactive oxygen species (ROS) and antioxidants, contributes significantly to oral cancer such as oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) initiation, promotion, and progression. ROS, generated both internally and externally, induce cellular damage including DNA mutations and lipid peroxidation, fostering oncogene activation and carcinogenesis. The objective of this review was to cover and analyze the interplay between ROS and antioxidants, influencing the key processes such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, and angiogenesis, shaping the trajectory of OSCC development.

A combination of searches for a new resonance decaying into a Higgs boson pair is presented, using up to 139 fb^{-1} of pp collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The combination includes searches performed in three decay channels: bb[over ¯]bb[over ¯], bb[over ¯]τ^{+}τ^{-}, and bb[over ¯]γγ. No excess above the expected Standard Model background is observed and upper limits are set at the 95% confidence level on the production cross section of Higgs boson pairs originating from the decay of a narrow scalar resonance with mass in the range 251 GeV-5 TeV.

Remote magneto-mechanical actuation (MMA) of magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) is emerging as a promising therapy method in oncology. However, translation to the clinic faces the challenge of whole-body action and the reluctance about indiscriminate mechanical action of the nanoparticles on tumor and healthy cells. Here, we show how the MMA method based on magnetically-rotated gold-coated MNP boosts only the activity of an unbound antitumor drug, without physical damage of cells via MNP.

Plastic overproduction and the resulting increase in consumption has made plastic pollution ubiquitous in all ecosystems. Recognizing this, the United Nations (UN) has started negotiations to establish a global treaty to end plastic pollution, especially in the marine environment. The basis of the treaty has been formulated in terms of turning off the tap, signaling the will to prevent plastic pollution at its source.

Higgsinos with masses near the electroweak scale can solve the hierarchy problem and provide a dark matter candidate, while detecting them at the LHC remains challenging if their mass splitting is O(1 GeV). This Letter presents a novel search for nearly mass-degenerate Higgsinos in events with an energetic jet, missing transverse momentum, and a low-momentum track with a significant transverse impact parameter using 140 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV collected by the ATLAS experiment. For the first time since LEP, a range of mass splittings between the lightest charged and neutral Higgsinos from 0.

Five biogenic unsaturated alcohols have been investigated under simulated atmospheric conditions regarding their gas-phase OH reactivity. The gas-phase rate coefficients of OH radicals with 2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol (), 3-methyl-2-buten-1-ol (), 3-methyl-3-buten-1-ol (), 2-methyl-3-buten-1-ol (), and 3-methyl-3-buten-2-ol () at 298 ± 2 K and 1000 ± 10 mbar total pressure of synthetic air were determined under low- and high-NO conditions using the relative kinetic technique. The present work provides for the first time the rate coefficients of gas-phase reactions of hydroxyl radicals with 2-methyl-3-buten-1-ol and 3-methyl-3-buten-2-ol.

The genus is one of the largest genera in the Lamiaceae family and includes species used since ancient times in traditional medicine, as flavoring for food and as fragrance in cosmetics. The secretory structures (represented by glandular trichomes) as well as the essential oils produced by them constitute the subject of this review. While representatives of this genus are not typically regarded as large producers of essential oils compared to other species of the Lamiaceae family, the components identified in their essential oils and their biological properties necessitate more investigation of this genus.

High-index contrast lithium niobate waveguides, fabricated by the High Vacuum Vapor-phase Proton Exchange (HiVac-VPE) technique, are very promising for increasing both the optical nonlinear and electro-optical efficiencies of photonic integrated devices. So as to play this role effectively, it is mandatory to know the crystallographic phase composition of waveguides and the position of protonated layers for appropriate tailoring and optimization based on the intended applications. In addition, the estimation of structural disorder and electro-optical properties of the waveguides are also of high interest.
