Sustained physical activity induces morphological and functional changes in the cardiovascular system. While mostly physiological, they can also become a trigger for major adverse cardiovascular events, the most severe of which are sudden cardiac arrest and sudden cardiac death. Therefore, any novel method which can help more accurately estimate the cardiovascular risk should be considered for further studying and future implementation in the standard protocols.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers developed high-performance supramolecular polyimides using azo-chromophores, which exhibit exceptional properties like high heat resistance, flexibility in film form, and good structuring abilities when exposed to UV laser light.
  • The micro/nano patterns created on the films depend on the type of azo-dye, with greater pattern dimensions observed when using a -cyano group in the azo-chromophore.
  • Molecular dynamics analyses highlighted the key role of van der Waals forces in the intermolecular interactions and showed that higher concentrations of azo groups enhance the mobility of polyimide chains, making the films suitable for flexible electronics applications.

Int J Environ Res Public Health

November 2022

Department of Psychology, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, 700554 Iaşi, Romania.

Little research has been focused on offline or online infidelity in GL dating relationships, especially in a post-communist socio-cultural context. Infidelity-related (IR) behaviors on social media sites might be as hurtful to relationships as offline infidelity, both in gay, lesbian (GL) and heterosexual romantic monogamous relationships. In this cross-sectional study, we aimed to examine the associations between dyadic satisfaction, attitudes toward infidelity, and problematic internet usage, with IR behaviors on social media sites among GL and heterosexual unmarried individuals in Romanian sexual minority communities.

Using moralization in anti-vaping public health messages as a persuasion strategy was recently recommended to address the current vaping epidemic. However, previous findings indicated this could lead to moralized attitudes in the general population, which can be very difficult to change and could severely affect social cohesion and distort risk perception. Since the safety and efficiency of using electronic cigarettes as smoking cessation devices are still being investigated, we conducted a cross-sectional, experimental study on a convenience sample of 612 Romanian never vapers, never smokers to assess how exposure to moralizing public health messages about vaping might influence their trust in future scientific results about this topic.

Systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (sJIA) and its complication, macrophage activation syndrome (sJIA-MAS), are rare but sometimes very serious or even critical diseases of childhood that can occasionally be characterized by nonspecific clinical signs and symptoms at onset-such as non-remitting high fever, headache, rash, or arthralgia-and are biologically accompanied by an increase in acute-phase reactants. For a correct positive diagnosis, it is necessary to rule out bacterial or viral infections, neoplasia, and other immune-mediated inflammatory diseases. Delays in diagnosis will result in late initiation of targeted therapy.

Front Sociol

October 2022

Department of Geography, Faculty of Geography and Geology, "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iaşi, Iaşi, Romania.

Starting with the chapter approaching the educational characteristics of the three census databases carried out in post-communist Romania (1992, 2002, and 2011), broken down at the local administrative unit level, the article aims to analyze from a geographical perspective the phenomenon of illiteracy. In the collective mindset, this notion is primarily associated with poverty, lack of accessibility to education, and/or lack of interest in school. During the three decades covered by this study, influenced by the change of the communist political regime and the economic instability, the complexity of the spatial dimensions of illiteracy is defined by particular demographic, confessional, and ethnic connections which have experienced various dynamics, but following the general tendency of the peripheralization of the phenomenon.
