Cellulose acetate is of remarkable scientific interest, becoming more useful when is used in obtaining of the composite materials containing nanoparticles, as result of its improved properties. Thus, cellulose acetate/silica composite films obtained by casting the solutions of cellulose acetate (CA)/tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) in different mixing ratios were analyzed in this paper. In the search for innovative approaches to cancer chemotherapy, a chemical library of 49 cyanochalcones, , , and , was designed as dual inhibitors of human farnesyltransferase (FTIs) and tubulin polymerization (MTIs) (FTIs/MTIs), two important biological targets in oncology. This approach is innovative since the same molecule would be able to interfere with two different mitotic events of the cancer cells and prevent these cells from developing an emergency route and becoming resistant to anticancer agents. Five new series of pyrrolo-fused heterocycles were designed through a scaffold hybridization strategy as analogs of the well-known microtubule inhibitor phenstatin. Compounds were synthesized using the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of cycloimmonium N-ylides to ethyl propiolate as a key step. With the increasing demand for European catfish, traditional extensive growth methods in polyculture are no longer sufficient to meet market needs. Therefore, this study aimed to identify indicators for improving recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) technology by determining and comparing growth performance, flesh quality, blood profile, oxidative status, and intestinal microbiota parameters between fish cultivated in a RAS and an earthen pond. Results revealed that RAS-grown fish had a higher fat content compared to pond-grown fish, while no significant differences were found for growth parameters.

Atmospheric-pressure plasma (APP) has advantages for enhancing the adhesion of polymers and has to provide uniform, efficient treatment, which also limits the recovery effect of treated surfaces. This study investigates the effects of APP treatment on polymers that have no oxygen bonded in their structure and varying crystallinity, aiming to assess the maximum level of modification and the post-treatment stability of non-polar polymers based on their initial structure parameters, including the crystalline-amorphous structure. The occurrence of flood events amid the COVID-19 pandemic represents a prominent part of the emerging multi-hazard landscape, as floods are one of the most frequent and destructive natural hazards. This spatial and temporal overlap of hydrological and epidemiological hazards translates into compounded negative effects, causing a shift in the hazard management paradigm, in which hazard interaction takes centre stage.
