Effect of autoimmune comorbidities on multiple sclerosis course: An observational multicenter study.

Background: The study aims to examine the age and disability levels at diagnosis in people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS), with and without autoimmune comorbidities (AC), and the effect of AC on NEDA-3 status and to characterize AC associated with MS, comparing also therapeutic approaches between MS patients with and without other AC.

Methods: This population-based, multicentric study enrolled patients with relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS) with AC (AC group) or without AC (reference group) from 14 MS centers. Demographical, clinical features, treatment information, MRI activity, EDSS, and no evidence of disease activity (NEDA-3) status were assessed at T36 (enrollment time) and T0 (36 months prior).

Regional disparities in the management and outcomes of ST-elevation myocardial infarction: an Italian analysis focusing on time-dependent reperfusion networks and in-hospital logistics.

Background: Prompt reperfusion is critical for patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) to improve outcomes. Yet, variability in regional healthcare delivery may influence treatment times and patient outcomes. We thus aimed at evaluating differences in management and outcomes of STEMI patients across Northern, Central, and Southern Italy, focusing on time-dependent reperfusion and in-hospital logistics.

Impact of software-assisted structured reporting on radiology residents approaching prostate MRI.

Purpose: To evaluate the potential advantages of software-assisted structured reporting for radiology residents approaching multiparametric prostate MRI (mpMRI).

Methods: MpMRI scans from 100 patients, performed for prostate cancer (PCa) detection or staging, were anonymized, and reviewed by six second-year radiology residents without previous experience in prostate MRI, following 6 h of intensive training. The dataset was split into two subsets of 50 cases each.

Background: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection increases the risk of having multiple sclerosis (MS). Data on adults with myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) are lacking.

Exploring the management of recurrent angioedema caused by different mechanisms.

Purpose Of Review: We aim to explore the most recent insights into the pathogenesis of recurrent angioedema caused by different mechanisms and then focus on the management and treatment approaches available.

Recent Findings: The recently developed DANCE consensus classification identifies five types of angioedema: mast cell-mediated (AE-MC), bradykinin-mediated, because of intrinsic vascular endothelium dysfunction (AE-VE), drug-induced (AE-DI), and due to unknown mechanisms (AE-UNK). These subtypes require different management with treatment choices targeting the main pathogenetic pathways involved in each form.

Structured magnetic resonance imaging and endoanal ultrasound anal fistulas reporting template (SMART): An interdisciplinary Delphi consensus.

Background: There is still considerable heterogeneity regarding which features of cryptoglandular anal fistula on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and endoanal ultrasound (EAUS) are relevant to surgical decision-making. As a consequence, the quality and completeness of the report are highly dependent on the training and experience of the examiners.

Aim: To develop a structured MRI and EAUS template (SMART) reporting the minimum dataset of information for the treatment of anal fistulas.

Anterior myocardial infarction is a critical condition with significant implications for cardiac function and patient prognosis. Despite advancements in reperfusion therapies, optimizing recovery during the early phases of myocardial infarction remains challenging. Anterior myocardial infarction can lead to substantial long-term effects on a patient's health due to extensive damage to the heart muscle, particularly the left ventricle, impacting both quality of life and overall prognosis.

Effectiveness and safety of Perampanel in refractory status epilepticus: a case series.

Introduction: Perampanel is a selective non-competitive antagonist of AMPA receptors, and the first agent of this class to become available for the treatment of epilepsy. It could be a useful tool for treatment of refractory status epilepticus (RSE).

Methods: We describe a series of eight RSE cases treated with Perampanel.

Background: Pediatric obesity is closely associated with cardiometabolic comorbidities, but the role of sex in this relationship is less investigated. We aimed to evaluate sex-related differences on cardiometabolic risk factors and preclinical signs of target organ damage in adolescents with overweight/obesity (OW/OB).

Methods: The main cross-sectional study included 988 adolescents (510 boys and 478 girls) with OW/OB aged 10-18 years.

A Copernican revolution of multigenic analysis: A retrospective study on clinical exome sequencing in unclear genetic disorders.

Background: The growing understanding of cancer biology and the establishment of new treatment modalities has not yielded the expected results in terms of survival for Laryngeal Squamous Cell Cancer (LSCC). Immunotherapy in thymic epithelial tumors: tissue predictive biomarkers for immune checkpoint inhibitors.

Thymic epithelial tumors (TETs) are rare malignant neoplasms arising in the thymus gland. Nevertheless, TETs, including thymomas (TMs), thymic carcinomas (TCs), and thymic neuroendocrine neoplasms (TNENs), are the most common mediastinal malignancies overall. A multidisciplinary approach is required for the appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic management of TETs.
