Magnolol (MG) and honokiol (HK) are bioactive compounds extracted from and trees with significant pharmacological properties, including antioxidant and antibacterial activity. However, their poor water solubility and low bioavailability limit the therapeutic potential. To address these limitations, this study aims to develop MG and HK formulations by co-electrospinning using custom-synthesized β-cyclodextrin-oligolactide (β-CDLA) derivatives.

This study investigated silicone composites with distributed boron nitride platelets and carbon microfibers that are oriented electrically. The process involved homogenizing and dispersing nano/microparticles in the liquid polymer, aligning the particles with DC and AC electric fields, and curing the composite with IR radiation to trap particles within chains. This innovative concept utilized two fields to align particles, improving the even distribution of carbon microfibers among BN in the chains.

In this present study, we developed and characterized a series of supramolecular G4 hydrogels by integrating -cyclodextrin (-CD) and boronic acid linkers into a supramolecular matrix to enhance antibacterial activity against (). We systematically investigated how varying the number of free boronic acid moieties (ranging from two to six), along with guanosine and β-CD content, influences both the structural integrity and antimicrobial efficacy of these materials. Comprehensive characterization using FTIR, circular dichroism, X-ray diffraction, SEM, AFM, and rheological measurements confirmed successful synthesis and revealed that higher boronic acid content correlated with a stronger, more organized network.

Chirality plays a crucial role in the pharmacological activity of triazoles, a key scaffold in antifungal agents and various therapeutic applications. This study focuses on optimizing the enantiomeric resolution of chiral triazoles using supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) and 10 different columns, either immobilized or coated, chlorinated or nonchlorinated, cellulose or amylose-based chiral stationary phases (CSPs). Four novel triazoles and two marketed ones (tebuconazole and hexaconazole) were separated to determine optimal resolution conditions.

The escalating atmospheric CO₂ concentration urgently demands ecologically friendly mitigation strategies. Compared to alternative catalysts, carbonic anhydrase (CA) demonstrates exceptionally high catalytic efficiency in CO₂ hydration reactions. Nevertheless, traditional CA immobilization techniques exhibit peak enzymatic activity exclusively at optimal temperatures, consequently constraining their effective application across diverse environmental thermal conditions in industrial settings.

Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have recently gained attention due to their tailorable properties and versatile applications in several fields, including green chemistry, pharmaceuticals, and energy storage. Their tunable properties can be enhanced by mixing DESs with cosolvents such as ethanol, acetonitrile, and water. DESs are structurally complex, and molecular modeling techniques, including quantum mechanical calculations and molecular dynamics simulations, play a crucial role in understanding their intricate behavior when mixed with cosolvents.

Conductive hydrogels are an appealing class of "smart" materials with great application potential, as they combine the stimuli-responsiveness of hydrogels with the conductivity of magnetic fillers. However, fabricating multifunctional conductive hydrogels that simultaneously exhibit conductivity, self-healing, adhesiveness, and anti-freezing properties remains a significant challenge. To address this issue, we introduce here a freeze-thawing approach to develop versatile, multiresponsive composite cryogels able to preserve their features under low-temperature conditions.

The locomotion of various organisms relies on the alternated elongation-contraction of their muscles or bodies. Such biomimicry can offer a promising approach to developing soft robotic devices with improved mobility and efficiency. Most strategies to mimic such motions rely on reversible size modifications of some materials upon exposure to external stimuli.

One of the biggest issues of wide bandgap semiconductor use in photocatalytic wastewater treatment is the reusability of the material and avoiding the contamination of water with the material itself. In this paper, we report on a novel TiO aeromaterial (aero-TiO) consisting of hollow microtetrapods with ZnTiO inclusions. Atomic layer deposition has been used to obtain particles of unique shape allowing them to interlock thereby protecting the photocatalyst from erosion and damage when incorporated in active filters.

An imbalance in the body's pH or temperature may modify the immune response and result in ailments such as autoimmune disorders, infectious diseases, cancer, or diabetes. Dual pH- and thermo-responsive carriers are being evaluated as advanced drug delivery microdevices designed to release pharmaceuticals in response to external or internal stimuli. A novel drug delivery system formulated as hydrogel was developed by combining a pH-sensitive polymer (the "biosensor") with a thermosensitive polymer (the delivery component).

The analysis of the volatile compounds released by biological samples represents a promising approach for the non-invasive diagnosis of a disease. The present study, focused on a population of dogs infected with canine leishmaniasis, aimed to decipher the volatolomic profile associated with this disease in dogs, which represent the main animal reservoir for Leishmania pathogen transmission to humans. The volatiles emitted by the breath and hair of dogs were analysed employing the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) technique.

The unit cell of the title compound, [Ni(CHClN)]·2CHOH, consists of a neutral complex and two methanol mol-ecules. In the complex, the two tridentate 2-(3-(4-chloro-phen-yl)-1-1,2,4-triazol-5-yl)-6-(1-pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine ligands coordinate to the central Ni ion through the N atoms of the pyrazole, pyridine and triazole groups, forming a pseudo-octa-hedral coordination sphere. Neighbouring tapered mol-ecules are linked through weak C-H(pz)⋯π(ph) inter-actions into monoperiodic chains, which are further linked through weak C-H⋯N/C inter-actions into diperiodic layers.

Schiff bases derived from aminoguanidine are extensively investigated for their structural versatility. The tridentate 2-formylpyridine guanylhydrazones act as analogues of 2-formyl or 2-acetylpyridine thiosemicarbazones, where the thioamide unit is replaced by the guanidyl group. Six derivatives of 2-formylpyridine guanylhydrazone were synthesized and their proton dissociation and complex formation processes with Cu(II), Fe(II) and Fe(III) ions were studied using pH-potentiometry, UV-visible, NMR and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopic methods.

New quaternary ammonium derivatives (quats) based on apple pectin (PA) were synthesized by the chemical modification of native polysaccharides with various quaternization mixtures containing epichlorohydrin (ECH) and a tertiary amine. Pectin derivatives (QPAs) were studied by elemental analysis, conductometric titration, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and C nuclear magnetic resonance (C NMR). Viscosity measurements enabled the evaluation of the viscosity average molar mass (M) for the unmodified polysaccharide, as well as its intrinsic viscosity ([η]) value.
