Child and Adolescent Mental Health Initiative (CAMHI), Stavros Niarchos Foundation & Child Mind Institute, Athens, Greece.
Background: The mental health system in Greece faces challenges to complete its transition to a community-oriented model, having significant concerns for child and adolescent care due to lower coverage and service gaps. This component of the mental health system has not been comprehensively evaluated.
Methods: We conducted a review of the mental health care system for children and adolescents in Greece.

Background: Factors associated with severe COVID-19 infection have been identified; however, the impact of infection on longer-term outcomes is unclear. The objective of this study was to examine the impact of COVID-19 infection on the trajectory of lung function and nutritional status in people with cystic fibrosis (pwCF).
Methods: This is a retrospective global cohort study of pwCF who had confirmed COVID-19 infection diagnosed between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2021.

Aims And Objective: The aim of the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP)'s 2023 shortages survey was to collect data on causes and mitigation strategies of shortages of medicines and medical devices and their impact on patient care. The survey targeted hospital pharmacists (HPs), physicians (PHYs), nurses (NRS) and other healthcare professionals (OHCPs). A separate set of questions addressed patients (PTNs).

Purpose Of Review: The risk of cardiovascular complications due to SARS-CoV-2 are significantly increased within the first 6 months of the infection. Patients with COVID-19 have an increased risk of death, and there is evidence that many may experience a wide range of post-acute cardiovascular complications. Our work aims to provide an update on current clinical aspects of diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular manifestations during acute and long-term COVID-19.

Purpose Of Review: The risks of cerebrovascular manifestations due to SARS-CoV-2 infection are significantly increased within the first 6 months of the infection. Our work aims to give an update on current clinical aspects of diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular manifestations during acute and long-term SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Recent Findings: The incidence of acute ischemic stroke and haemorrhagic stroke during acute SARS-CoV-2 patients is estimated at 0.

Background: Chronic respiratory conditions are a prominent public health issue and thus, building a patient registry might facilitate both policy decision making and improvement of clinical management processes. Hellenic Registry of patients with Home Mechanical Ventilation (HR-HMV) was initiated in 2017 and a web-based platform is used to support patient data collection. Eighteen hospital departments (including sleep labs) across Greece participate in this initiative, focusing on recording data for both children and adult patients supported by mechanical ventilation at home, including patients with Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome (SAHS) under Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) therapy.

Aim: The present survey aimed to collect information on the lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic by hospital pharmacists. It focused on the shortages of health goods and the experiences of hospitals during the first phase of the crisis.
Methods: A 17-question survey was conducted by EAHP, looking at the experiences of hospital pharmacists during the COVD-19 pandemic.

Background: Viral infections can cause significant morbidity in cystic fibrosis (CF). The current Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic could therefore have a serious impact on the health of people with CF (pwCF).
Methods: We used the 38-country European Cystic Fibrosis Society Patient Registry (ECFSPR) to collect case data about pwCF and SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Introduction: Re-operative laparoscopic colorectal surgery is becoming increasingly common. It can be a challenging procedure, but its benefits can outweigh the associated risks.
Methods: A systematic review of the literature reporting re-operative laparoscopic surgery was carried out.

Objective: To create an informatics supportive tool, which can assist healthcare professionals in estimating potential requirements for essential drug supplies to respond to the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic based on epidemiological forecasting.
Methods: The tool was based on a Susceptible-Infected-Removed (SIR) epidemiological model in which the population is divided into three compartments and transmission parameters are specified to define the rate at which people move between stages. Appropriate data entry was guaranteed by the creation of structured guided paths.

Purpose: To study the effects of mean apnea-hypopnea duration (MAD), a useful indicator of blood oxygenation, on peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL), macular ganglion cell to inner plexiform layer (GC-IPL) and macular retinal thickness in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).
Methods: Sixty-five patients recently diagnosed with OSAHS and 35 healthy individuals were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. OSAHS patients were divided according to their MAD values into group 1 with 16 participants (MAD:10-15.

Purpose: To evaluate the effects of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy on corneal endothelial morphometry and pachymetry in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).
Methods: This prospective, observational study included patients with OSAHS who were evaluated right before and after the commencement of CPAP treatment. Each patient underwent a detailed ophthalmologic examination and assessment of their corneal endothelium with a noncontact specular microscope (Tomey EM-3000; Tomey Corp).

Tourette Syndrome (TS) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that presents with motor and vocal tics early in childhood. The aim of this study was to investigate genetic variants in the 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) of TS candidate genes with a putative link to microRNA (miRNA) mediated regulation or gene expression. We used an approach to identify 32 variants in the 3'UTR of 18 candidate genes putatively changing the binding site for miRNAs.

Herein, we deploy an in silico pipeline of structural bioinformatics, thermodynamics, and molecular dynamics to investigate the role of cortisol in circadian rhythms, biorhythms, stress response, and even sleep disorders. Our study shows that high concentrations of cortisol intercalate in the minor groove of DNA. This phenomenon widens the adjacent major grooves and provides the Clock/Bmal1 complex with more space to dock and interact with DNA.

Purpose: To determine whether gene polymorphisms which are associated with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) influence treatments' response and specifically the antioxidant supplementation in dry AMD patients, as well as the anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) therapy in neovascular AMD patients.
Methods: A total of 170 patients with dry AMD and 52 neovascular AMD patients were genotyped for the following single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs): rs1061170/Y402H in CFH gene, rs10490924/A69S in ARMS2 gene, rs9332739/E318D and rs547154/IVS10 in C2 gene, and rs4151667/L9H and rs2072633/IVS17 in CFB gene. Treatment response was evaluated by comparing visual acuity and optical coherence tomography between baseline and at the end of the treatment.

Background: Shortcomings of inhaled antibiotic treatments for Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) include poor drug penetration, inactivation by sputum, poor efficiency due to protective biofilm, and short residence in the lung.
Methods: Eligible patients with forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV) ≥25% of predicted value at screening and CF with chronic P. aeruginosa infection were randomly assigned to receive 3 treatment cycles (28 days on, 28 days off) of amikacin liposome inhalation suspension (ALIS, 590 mg QD) or tobramycin inhalation solution (TIS, 300 mg BID).
