Objectives: People living with HIV/AIDS today expect a typical lifespan, although many continue to encounter psychological and societal challenges, including stigma and discrimination. In healthcare settings, this may manifest as refusal of care or treatment, non-consensual testing, confidentiality breaches, and unfavourable attitudes, among other issues. We sought to better understand stigma-related beliefs and practices within the Romanian clinician community.

Biomarkers in colorectal cancer (CRC) are of great interest in the current literature due to improvements in techniques such as liquid biopsy and next-generation sequencing (NGS). However, screening methods vary globally, with multi-target stool DNA (mt-sDNA) predominantly used in the USA and, more recently, the Cologuard Plus; biomarkers such as the Galectins family and septins show promise in early detection. Gut microbiome assessments, such as Fusobacterium nucleatum, are under intense exploration.

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a multisystemic autoimmune disorder in which cardiac involvement is frequent and portends negative prognosis. Left ventricular (LV) diastolic dysfunction is one of the most common cardiac alterations in these patients, and left atrial (LA) reservoir strain (Ɛ) measurement using speckle tracking echocardiography has been proposed as a novel parameter for a better assessment of LV diastolic function. Therefore, the aim of this study was to test the prognostic value of Ɛ in a large multicenter cohort of SSc patients.

Background/objectives: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory condition mediated by the immune system with various manifestations. The increased prevalence of subclinical joint involvement has led to the development of early diagnostic methods for psoriatic arthritis, including several instruments that have been validated and used in clinical practice. The aim of this study was to perform the Romanian translation, cultural adaptation, and validation of three assessment tools: the Early Arthritis for Psoriatic Patients (EARP) Questionnaire, Psoriasis Epidemiology Screening Tool (PEST), and Toronto Psoriatic Arthritis Screen 2 (TOPAS 2), which are designed to evaluate early-stage arthritis in patients with psoriasis.

Introduction: Most breast cancers require neoadjuvant chemotherapy and the response to primary systemic therapy (PST) is crucial for deciding on the surgical technique and predicting patient outcomes. However, chemotherapy also brings numerous side effects, with cardiovascular issues being some of the most significant, common and challenging to manage.
Case Presentation: We present the case of a 71-year-old woman diagnosed with stage T2N1M0 Luminal B breast cancer.

Even with the intensive efforts by public health programs to control and prevent it, non-typhoidal (NTS) infection remains an important public health challenge. It is responsible for approximately 150 million illnesses and 60,000 deaths worldwide annually. NTS infection poses significant risks with high rates of morbidity and mortality, leading to potential short- and long-term complications.

Introduction: The aim of this retrospective, observational, descriptive study was to identify predictors of response to neoadjuvant therapy in breast cancer patients and to validate them using three anatomopathological scores, such as residual cancer burden (RCB) score, Chevallier system, and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) score.
Materials And Methods: We conducted a study on 88 female patients aged 37 to 78 years with confirmed breast cancer who were indicated for neoadjuvant chemotherapy. We analyzed different individual variables (such as age, menarche, and menopause), clinical/imaging characteristics of the breast tumor and axillary nodes, immunohistochemical biomarkers (such as ER/PR/HER2 and Ki67), and histopathological features (such as subtype and grading) in relation to three anatomopathological scores calculated based on the surgical resection specimen.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a multifaceted disorder predominantly investigated for its pulmonary manifestations, yet patients with CF also exhibit a spectrum of extrapulmonary manifestations, notably those involving the hepatobiliary system. The latter constitutes the third leading cause of morbidity and mortality in individuals with CF. Cystic fibrosis-related liver disease (CFLD), with an escalating prevalence, manifests diverse clinical presentations ranging from hepatomegaly to cirrhosis and hepatopulmonary syndrome.

A rare entity of non-hiatal type transdiaphragmatic hernias, which must be clearly differentiated from paraoesophageal hernias, are the phrenic defects that bear the generic name of congenital hernias-Bochdalek hernia and Larey-Morgagni hernia, respectively. The etiological substrate is relatively simple: the presence of preformed anatomical openings, which either do or do not enable transit from the thoracic region to the abdominal region or, most often, vice versa, from the abdomen to the thorax, of various visceral elements (spleen, liver, stomach, colon, pancreas, etc.).

This paper delineates several aspects of cystic fibrosis-related diabetes (CFRD)-a common complication of cystic fibrosis (CF). CFRD exhibits a predilection for older individuals with CF, yet it also extends its influence on children and adolescents. Scientific insights postulate a potential link between CFRD and the aberrant mucus production within the pancreas, thereby culminating in pancreatic insufficiency.

About 70% of patients with Sjogren's syndrome suffer from fatigue, and for a large proportion of patients, it is one of the most noticeable manifestations leading to disability. To date, no study has been conducted in Romania to determine the quality of life of patients and the impact of fatigue in patients with Sjogren's syndrome. The present work proposes the translation, cultural adaptation, and validation of two questionnaires for the Romanian context, namely the 'Profile of Fatigue and Discomfort-Sicca Symptoms Inventory' (PROFAD-SSI-SF) and 'Primary Sjogren's Syndrome-Quality of Life' (PSS-QoL), whose purpose is to assess quality of life and fatigue in patients with Sjogren's syndrome.

Arthritis is an unusual manifestation of paraneoplastic syndrome, appearing in a variety of cancers, including pulmonary and colorectal. It can often pose a diagnostic challenge to physicians, since it may be difficult to distinguish from more commonly encountered rheumatic illnesses. Moreover, synchronous cancers are rare and unexpected in patients with symmetrical polyarthritis.

Hemochromatosis is a genetic disorder characterized by increased iron storage in various organs with progressive multisystemic damage. Despite the reports dating back to 1865, the diagnosis of hemochromatosis poses a challenge to clinicians due to its non-specific symptoms and indolent course causing significant delay in disease recognition. The key organ that is affected by iron overload is the liver, suffering from fibrosis, cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma, complications that can be prevented via early diagnosis and treatment.

The place of non-criteria antiphospholipid antibodies (aPLs) in the diagnosis of antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is still debatable. The aim of this research was to evaluate the correlations between the titres of non-criteria aPLs (anti-phosphatidylethanolamine (aPE), anti-phosphatidylserine (aPS), and anti-prothrombin (aPT) antibodies), and the ones of the already studied criteria aPLs (anti-cardiolipin (aCL) and anti-β2 glycoprotein I-aβ2GPI antibodies). Altogether, 72 APS (30 primary and 42 secondary) patients were included in our study.

This report presents the case of a female patient diagnosed with Takayasu arteritis from childhood, with severe, refractory coronary involvement, leading to two acute coronary syndromes and multiple anginous episodes. Consequently, the patient suffered aorto-bicarotid bypass two times, multiple interventional procedures with stent implantation, balloon angioplasty, and up to ten repeated in-stent restenosis that required reinterventions, despite being on maximal immunosuppressive treatment. In recent years, various studies have been reported that aim to best characterize this particular type of vascular damage and to indicate optimal therapeutic options for treatment.

Videocapillaroscopy is a simple, non-invasive investigation that allows the "in vivo" study of the nailfold capillaries. This method is inexpensive, easily accepted by patients and the results can be easily interpreted. It is mainly used in patients with Raynaud's phenomenon and systemic sclerosis, but this examination can also be performed on patients who are suspected of having microcirculation alterations, such as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis.

Cases of digestive cancers diagnosed during pregnancy are rare. The increasing prevalence of pregnancy in women aged 30-39 years (and not exceptionally 40-49 years) could explain the frequent co-occurrence of cancers and pregnancy. The diagnosis of digestive cancers in pregnancy is difficult due to the overlap between neoplasm symptomatology and the clinical picture of pregnancy.
