Single Anastomosis Duodeno-Ileal Bypass with Sleeve Gastrectomy (SADI-S) was proposed as a simplification of the biliopancreatic diversion (BPD) procedure with duodenal switch (DS) in order to reduce operative time and postoperative complications rate, however, keeping effectiveness in weight loss and in comorbidities' resolution. We performed a systematic review of the literature with the aim of summarizing the current evidence of SADI-S clinical outcomes in order to assess its effectiveness and safety, and a total of 17 studies were included. Short- and mid-term follow-up results were reported, with a mean TWL loss ≥ 25% at 12 months and > 44% after 24 months, comparable to BPD-DS, also in reoperative surgery.

Purpose: Patients diagnosed with High Grade Gliomas (HGG) generally tend to have a relatively negative prognosis with a high risk of early tumor recurrence (TR) after post-operative radio-chemotherapy. The assessment of the pre-operative risk of early versus delayed TR can be crucial to develop a personalized surgical approach. The purpose of this article is to predict TR using MRI radiomic analysis.

: hypochloremia is an emerging risk factor for mortality in patients with chronic kidney disease. The pathophysiological mechanisms of this finding are not very clear. Some studies suggest the influence of inflammation as a synergistic factor, so we set out to analyse the association of a novel C-reactive protein-to-serum chloride ratio (CRP/Cl) with the prognosis of maintenance haemodialysis patients and to assess its relationship with fluid status and body composition measured by bioimpedance.

The gut microbiota constitutes a complex microorganism community that harbors bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, and archaea. The human gut bacterial microbiota has been extensively proven to participate in human metabolism, immunity, and nutrient absorption. Its imbalance, namely "dysbiosis", has been linked to disordered metabolism.

The emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has led the medical and scientific community to explore the pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of coronaviruses. In felines, a widespread coronavirus known as feline coronavirus (FCoV) can lead to feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), a highly fatal disease characterised by severe systemic inflammation. Diagnosing FCoV remains challenging due to the limited accuracy of the available methods.

Trigeminal neuralgia is a neuropathic pain syndrome responsive to botulinum toxin type A therapy. This review had the goal of analyzing the different studies published from 2002 to January 2024 to better define the techniques and the types of botulinum toxin type A used, the doses, the injection routes, and the different populations of trigeminal neuralgia patients treated. We considered only articles in which the therapy was administered to humans to treat trigeminal neuralgia.

Aim: To meta-analyze the utility of transarterial radioembolization (TARE) in patients with liver metastatic breast cancer (BC), based on the objective response rate (ORR) and disease control rate (DCR).
Methods: A literature search was performed retrieving studies with (1) at least 10 patients with liver metastatic BC treated with TARE and (2) adequate information to derive ORR and DCR. The ORR is the ratio between patients with liver lesions showing complete response (CR) or partial response (PR) over the total number of patients treated with TARE; the DCR is the ratio between patients with CR, PR, or stable disease (SD) over the total number of patients treated with TARE.

Aims: The left atrial appendage (LAA) produces natriuretic peptides and its removal or occlusion might increase the risk of heart failure (HF). We aimed to investigate the incidence of HF after LAA occlusion or removal (LAAO) in the Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion Study (LAAOS III).
Methods And Results: Patients (n = 4811) with atrial fibrillation (AF) and a CHADS-VASc score ≥2, who were having cardiac surgery for another indication, were randomized to undergo surgical LAAO or not.

Aims: The aim of this study is to assess the sleep quality and daytime sleepiness improvement in chronic migraineurs after 6 months of a 2:1 KD (ketogenic diet) and LGID (low-glycemic-index diet).
Methods: Twenty-six patients underwent 2:1 KD (11 patients) and LGID (15 patients). PSQI (Pittsburgh sleep quality index) and ESS (Epworth sleepiness scale) were administered at the baseline and the 3-month and 6-month follow-up.

Objective: To identify the COVID-19 pandemic impact on well-being/mental health, coping strategies, and risk factors in adolescents worldwide.
Method: This study was based on an anonymous online multi-national/multi-language survey in the general population (representative/weighted non-representative samples, 14-17 years of age), measuring change in well-being (World Health Organization-Five Well-Being Index [WHO-5]/range = 0-100) and psychopathology (validated composite P-score/range = 0-100), WHO-5 <50 and <29, pre- vs during COVID-19 pandemic (April 26, 2020-June 26, 2022). Coping strategies and 9 a priori- defined individual/cumulative risk factors were measured.

Here we conduct a study involving 12 individuals with retinal dystrophy, neurological impairment, and skeletal abnormalities, with special focus on GPATCH11, a lesser-known G-patch domain-containing protein, regulator of RNA metabolism. To elucidate its role, we study fibroblasts from unaffected individuals and patients carrying the recurring c.328+1 G > T mutation, which specifically removes the main part of the G-patch domain while preserving the other domains.
