Fluorescence imaging is a real-time intraoperative navigation modality to enhance surgical vision and it can guide emergency surgeons while performing difficult, high-risk surgical procedures. The aim of this study is to assess current knowledge, attitudes, and practices of emergency surgeons in the use of indocyanine green (ICG) in emergency settings. Between March 08, 2023 and April 10, 2023, a questionnaire composed of 27 multiple choice and open-ended questions was sent to 200 emergency surgeons who had previously joined the ARtificial Intelligence in Emergency and trauma Surgery (ARIES) project promoted by the WSES.

Background: Heart failure (HF) significantly affects the morbidity, mortality, and quality of life of patients. New therapeutic strategies aim to improve the functional capacity and quality of life of patients while controlling HF-related risks. Real-world data on both the functional and cardiopulmonary exercise capacities of patients with HF with reduced ejection fraction upon sacubitril/valsartan use are lacking.

Background: In patients with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) S-ICD is usually the preferred option as pacing is generally not indicated. However, limited data are available on its current practice adoption and long-term follow-up.
Methods: Consecutive HCM patients with S-ICD implanted between 2013 and 2021 in 3 international centers were enrolled in this observational study.

Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) in the severe forms is associated with a poor quality of life. Dupilumab has been suggested as an add-on treatment option for severe CRSwNP. Severe CRSwNP patients treated with Dupilumab in different rhinological units were considered for this study via their evaluation at the baseline at first and the consequential follow-up at 6-, 12-, and 24 months from the first administration.

This retrospective multicenter study examines therapy-induced orbital and ocular MRI findings in retinoblastoma patients following selective intra-arterial chemotherapy (SIAC) and quantifies the impact of SIAC on ocular and optic nerve growth. Patients were selected based on medical chart review, with inclusion criteria requiring the availability of posttreatment MR imaging encompassing T2-weighted and T1-weighted images (pre- and post-intravenous gadolinium administration). Qualitative features and quantitative measurements were independently scored by experienced radiologists, with deep learning segmentation aiding total eye volume assessment.

Uterine rupture is a rare and life-threatening condition. It usually occurs in patients with uterine scars (most commonly for a previous myomectomy or caesarean section), but it can also affect an unharmed uterus. This complication is more frequent in the third trimester and during delivery.

The real-world, retrospective, NEROnE registry investigated the impact of next-generation sequencing (NGS) in advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients (pts) at three oncology units in the north of Italy between January 2020 and December 2022. We focused on the clinical characterization and outcomes of NSCLC with rare molecular alterations: exon 20 insertion, non-activating mutations, V600E and non-V600, and rearrangements, , ErbB2, and mutations. Overall, these represented 6.

The treatment of HCV and its sequelae are used to be predominantly based on Interferon (IFN). However, this was associated with significant adverse events as a result of its immunostimulant capabilities. Since their introduction, the directly acting antiviral drugs (DAAs), have become the standard of care to treat of HCV and its complications including mixed cryoglobulinemic vasculitis (MCV).

Background: Left bundle branch area pacing (LBBAP) has swiftly emerged as a safe and effective alternative to right ventricular pacing. Limited data exist on the use of retractable-helix, stylet-driven leads for LBBAP.
Objective: The objective of this study was to prospectively evaluate the performance and safety of a stylet-driven pacing lead in a rigorously controlled multicenter trial to support US market application.

Objectives: to describe the results of a pilot population-based perinatal mortality surveillance system, with regards to stillbirths; to study maternal, obstetric, and foetal characteristics, evaluating risk factors and understanding causes.
Design: a cross-sectional study was conducted on incident cases of stillbirths collected by the surveillance system from July 2017 to June 2019 in three Italian Regions (Lombardy, Tuscany, and Sicily).
Setting And Participants: data on stillbirths, resulting from the in-hospital multidisciplinary audits, organised using the Significant Event Audit methodology, were analysed.
Introduction: Dysregulated MET is an established oncogenic driver in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). MET signaling may also suppress anticancer immune responses. Concomitant MET inhibition with capmatinib (a MET inhibitor) synergistically enhanced the efficacy of immunotherapies in murine cancer models, regardless of tumor dependency to MET signaling.

Despite increasing adoption with both lumenless leads and stylet-driven leads, concerns regarding the feasibility and safety of the extraction of CSP leads remain.
Objective: The aim of the study was to report on the safety, feasibility, and clinical outcomes of the extraction of CSP leads.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the predictive capability of QFR for adverse events and its noninferiority compared to wire-based functional assessment in nonculprit vessels of MI patients.
Methods: The FIRE (Functional Assessment in Elderly MI Patients With Multivessel Disease) trial randomized 1,445 older MI patients to culprit-only (n = 725) or physiology-guided complete revascularization (n = 720).
