The aims of this study were to explore the degree of entorhinal cortical atrophy (ERICA) and the severity of MCI symptoms; to analyze magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) results for the entorhinal cortex, parahippocampal gyrus, peri entorhinal cortex, and the cerebellar tentorium; and to perform a comprehensive neuropsychological and psychophysical assessment.

Attitudes, Knowledge and Clinical Practice of Health Professionals towards Psychological Disorders in Cancer Patients: An Observational Study.

Background: The suffering associated with a cancer diagnosis can find different channels to express itself: sleep disorders, psychiatric disorders, sexuality. These are not always analyzed by health professionals, but they have an impact on the patient's quality of life and on the outcome of the disease.

Methods: An observational study was conducted in order to investigate attitudes, knowledge and clinical practice towards psychological symptoms in cancer patients.

Parkinson's Disease (PD) body-first subtype is characterized by prodromal autonomic symptoms and REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD), symmetric dopaminergic degeneration, and increased risk of dementia. On the other hand, the PD brain-first subtype has fewer non-motor symptoms and a milder motor phenotype. The temporal relationship between RBD onset and motor symptoms onset may differentiate these two subtypes.

Strategies for cessation of caffeine administration in preterm infants.

Background: Apnea and intermittent hypoxemia (IH) are common developmental disorders in infants born earlier than 37 weeks' gestation. Caffeine administration has been shown to lower the incidence of these disorders in preterm infants. Cessation of caffeine treatment is based on different post-menstrual ages (PMA) and resolution of symptoms.

Management of temporary mechanical circulatory support devices in cath-lab and cardiac intensive care unit.

Different temporary mechanical circulatory support (tMCS) devices are available and can be used to maintain end-organ perfusion while reducing cardiac work and myocardial oxygen demand. tMCS can provide support to the right ventricle, left ventricle, or both, and its use can be considered in emergency situations such as cardiogenic shock or in elective procedures such as high-risk percutaneous coronary intervention to prevent haemodynamic deterioration. Invasive and, most importantly, non-invasive haemodynamic parameters should be taken into account when choosing the type of tMCS device and its initiation and weaning timing, determining the need for a device upgrade, and screening for complications.

Background: Immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have significantly improved metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) prognosis, although their efficacy in patients with bone metastases (BMs) remains poorly understood. We investigated the prognostic role of natremia in pretreated RCC patients with BMs receiving immunotherapy.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective multicenter study included RCC patients with BMs receiving nivolumab as second-line therapy or beyond.

Background: Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) benefits patients with treatment-resistant depression (TRD), but the underlying biological processes are unclear. We conducted an epigenome-wide association study in 32 TRD patients undergoing ECT to depict ECT-associated methylation changes. Illness severity and ECT outcomes were assessed with the Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale at baseline (T0) and 1 month after its end (T1).

Multidisciplinary care use in neurodegenerative complex diseases: The example of progressive supranuclear palsy and advanced Parkinson's disease in real-life.

Background: In spite of being considered the gold-standard of care, little is known about the real-life use of in-home and multidisciplinary care in atypical parkinsonism.

Objective: Primary: Examine real-life multidisciplinary care use for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Secondary: a) Compare PSP care to advanced Parkinson's disease (APD) care; (b) Explore demographic and clinical variables associated with care needs in both groups.

Introduction: Post-stroke epilepsy (PSE) is one of the most common causes of acquired epilepsy. Nevertheless, there is limited evidence regarding the clinical profile of antiseizure medications (ASMs) in PSE. This study aims to evaluate the 12-month effectiveness and tolerability of perampanel (PER) used as only add-on treatment in patients with PSE in a real-world setting.

Robotic-assisted versus conventional laparoscopic management of deep endometriosis involving the sacral plexus and sciatic nerve: A comparative before and after study.

Objective: To compare robotic-assisted laparoscopy (RAL) and laparoscopy (LPS) for intraoperative and postoperative outcomes, and functional results after a 6-month follow-up period among patients having undergone excision of deep endometriosis (DE) involving the sacral plexus (SP) and sciatic nerve (SN).

Methods: A retrospective analysis of 100 patients included in our prospective database, who underwent surgical eradication of DE involving the SP and SN at our tertiary referral centre between September 2018 and June 2023. Patients were managed by LPS (n = 71) until 2021, and subsequently by RAL (n = 29).

Objective: Acute appendicitis is a wide spectrum disease, from simple inflammation to evident intestinal perforation. Patients And Methods: This international, multicenter, retrospective cohort study included young patients (aged ≤40 years) diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and harboring germline PVs in BRCA genes. Patterns of practice of image guided particle therapy for cranio-spinal irradiation: A site specific multi-institutional survey of European Particle Therapy Network.

Purpose: To investigate the current practice patterns in image-guided particle therapy (IGPT) for cranio-spinal irradiation (CSI).

Methods: A multi-institutional survey was distributed to European particle therapy centres to analyse all aspects of IGPT. Based on the survey results, a Delphi consensus analysis was developed to define minimum requirements and optimal workflow for clinical practice.

Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) treatments are associated with a detrimental impact on bone health (BH) and body composition. However, the evidence on these issues is limited and contradictory. This consensus, based on the Delphi method, provides further guidance on BH management in PCa.

Eosinophilic asthma currently boasts the most robust evidence across all age groups: all three biologics are approved for adults (aged ≥18 years); mepolizumab is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) also in children (aged ≥ 6 years), while bernalizumab was recently approved by the FDA for patients aged ≥6 years in the USA.

A Prospective Randomized Multicenter Study on the Impact of [F]F-Choline PET/CT Versus Conventional Imaging for Staging Intermediate- to High-Risk Prostate Cancer.

This study aimed to compare the efficacy of [F]F-choline PET/CT with conventional imaging for staging and managing intermediate- to high-risk prostate cancer (PCa). The primary objective was to assess the ability of PET/CT with [F]F-choline to identify lymph node and systemic involvement during initial staging. Secondary objectives included evaluating the impact of [F]F-choline PET/CT on unnecessary local treatments and assessing the safety of [F]F-choline agents.

Increased glucosylsphingosine levels and Gaucher disease in GBA1-associated Parkinson's disease.

Introduction: Gaucher's disease (GD) is caused by biallelic mutations in the GBA1 gene, leading to reduced glucocerebrosidase (GCase) activity and substrate (glucosylceramide and glucosylsphingosine, GlcSph) accumulation. GBA1 variant carriers are at risk of Parkinson's disease (PD), but only those with biallelic mutations cross the threshold of GCase reduction, leading to substrate accumulation and GD. The link between GBA1 mutations, GD and PD is not fully understood.
