Update on the diagnosis and treatment of pericardial diseases: a position paper of the Italian Society of Cardiology in collaboration with the study group on cardiomyopathies and pericardial diseases.

The knowledge of pericardial diseases has now improved, including prospective and retrospective cohort studies focusing on the pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes. The complex interplay between genetic predisposition (especially for autoinflammatory conditions), inflammation, and autoimmunity is now known to trigger recurrences of pericarditis. Moreover, diagnostic capabilities have improved with the implementation of multimodality imaging, particularly cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR), to detect and monitor pericardial inflammation, to allow diagnosis in more complicated cases, and tailor the duration of therapy based on objective parameters.

Outcomes of loop ileostomy after rectal resection for cancer: A prospective observational multicenter snapshot study from Multidisciplinary Italian Study group for STOmas (MISSTO).

Background: Diverting ileostomy is a common procedure in rectal cancer surgery, but it is sometimes associated with a nonnegligible rate of complications. The primary aim of this study was to analyze the incidence and types of stoma-related complications for ileostomy creation after rectal cancer resection. The secondary aims were to report the indications, the technical details, and the efficacy of stoma care provided by ostomy nurses.

Introduction: Olfactory neuroblastoma (ONB) is a rare malignant tumor originating from the olfactory neuroepithelium, typically within the sinonasal cavity. Cases of ONB originating outside of the olfactory cleft area are extremely rare and are referred to as "ectopic" (eONB), in contrast to "orthotopic" tumors (oONB). ONB has been associated with paraneoplastic syndromes (PNSs), including the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH).

This review provides a state-of-the-art analysis of the applications of the HoloLens in a medical and healthcare context of teaching through simulation designed for medical students, nurses, residents especially in urology.

Orthopaedic deception: when psychiatric disorders mimic musculoskeletal conditions.

Psychiatric disorders significantly impact orthopaedic practice, often manifesting in ways that can complicate diagnosis and treatment. This narrative review explores psychiatric conditions that mimic musculoskeletal disorders, including Conversion Disorder, Factitious Disorder, Somatic Symptom Disorder, and Malingering. These disorders present a range of challenges, from interfering with accurate diagnosis to contributing to suboptimal clinical outcomes and increased healthcare costs.

Value of PGT-A when only one or two blastocysts are obtained: propensity-score matching and cost-effectiveness study.

Objective: To compare the effectiveness and cost of in-vitro fertilization (IVF) with or without preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) when only one or two blastocysts are obtained.

Methods: A dataset was gathered from 1829 patients including 368 non-PGT-A and 1461 PGT-A cycles with one or two blastocysts obtained, between April 2013 and July 2022. Patients were matched 1:1 by propensity-score matching for maternal age, number of metaphase-II oocytes inseminated and number of blastocysts obtained, achieving a database of 242 patients per group.

Bacteremic nosocomial pneumonia caused by Gram-negative bacilli: results from the nationwide ALARICO study in Italy.

Purpose: To describe the clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients with nosocomial pneumonia (NP) caused by carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative bacilli (CR-GNB) and to compare them to patients with NP caused by carbapenem-susceptible (CS)-GNB.

Methods: Prospective observational multicenter study including patients with bacteremic NP caused by GNB from the ALARICO Network (June 2018-January 2020). The primary outcome measure was 30-day mortality.

Background And Aim: Diabetes has been shown in last decades to be associated with a significantly higher mortality among patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated with primary PCI (PPCI). Therefore, the aim of current study was to evaluate the impact of diabetes on times delays, reperfusion and mortality in a contemporary STEMI population undergoing PPCI, including treatment during the COVID pandemic.

Methods And Results: The ISACS-STEMI COVID-19 is a large-scale retrospective multicenter registry involving PPCI centers from Europe, Latin America, South-East Asia and North-Africa, including patients treated from 1st of March until June 30, 2019 and 2020.

Postnatal growth of etiologically characterized preterm newborns according to gestational age at birth.

Objective: To examine the relationship between etiologically-based preterm birth sub-groups and early postnatal growth according to gestational age at birth.

Methods: Prospective, multinational, cohort study involving 15 hospitals that monitored preterm newborns to hospital discharge. Measures/exposures: maternal demographics; etiologically-based preterm birth sub-groups; very, moderate and late preterm categories, and feeding.

Objectives: This single-center retrospective study evaluated the long-term (~5 years) prognostic value of dipyridamole stress cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) in patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease (CAD), assessing the impact of both key phases of the ischemic cascade (perfusion and wall motion).

Material And Methods: We considered 322 consecutive patients who underwent dipyridamole stress CMR. Abnormal wall motion at rest and after dipyridamole, perfusion at stress and at rest, and late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) were analyzed.
