Purpose: Rickets is a rare bone disorder due to altered calcium, vitamin D, and phosphorus metabolism, caused by nutritional deficiencies or, in 13% of cases, genetic origin. Few data are available on an Italian cohort of rickets.
Methods: Twenty-four patients with confirmed low serum phosphorus levels and reduced renal tubular phosphate reabsorption were recruited from different tertiary care centres over the last 5 years.

Background: Myocardial infarction without obstructive coronary artery disease (MINOCA) is a challenging condition which requires appropriate management and therapy. Although specific guidelines and recommendations for this condition have been introduced, there are few data about management implementation over time. The aim of this study is to compare two cohorts of patients affected by suspected MINOCA to assess the temporal trends change in the clinical characteristics and management.

Aims: This study aims to assess the changes in cardiac damage stage in a real-world cohort of patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and to investigate the prognostic value of cardiac damage stage evolution.
Methods And Results: Patients with severe AS undergoing TAVI were retrospectively analyzed. A 5-stage system based on the presence and extent of cardiac damage assessed by echocardiography was applied before and 6 months after TAVI.

Chronic coronary syndromes (CCS) are the most common clinical manifestation of coronary atherosclerosis. Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) is a recent innovation in non-invasive cardiac imaging. It is the only anatomical imaging method that allows direct visualization of the coronary lumen, vessel walls, and atherosclerotic plaques, offering high sensitivity and a strong negative predictive value.

Recently, cardiac intensive care units (CICUs) have undergone a significant transformation related to the evolution in management of acute coronary syndrome and influenced by other factors such as the epidemiological transition, the increasing complexity of clinical cases, the technological advancement, and the growth of clinical and scientific expertise of cardiologists. In the context of this evolution, a functional reorganization of CICUs in Italy has to be implemented in order to meet the changing needs of the population with cardiovascular disease requiring critical care. Therefore, the Italian Association of Hospital Cardiologists (ANMCO) proposes this position paper for the reorganization of CICUs into three levels with increasing functional complexity, based on the hospital characteristics, the available technology, and clinical cases treated.

Background: Recent advancements in ultra-high-density mapping (UHDM) featuring automated functionalities have enhanced our understanding of micro-reentrant atrial tachycardias (mAT) circuits and the precise localization of the origin.
Purpose: To evaluate the diagnostic support provided by an automated UHDM algorithm in guiding the ablation of mATs.
Methods: Consecutive patients eligible for AT ablation in 22 Italian centers were prospectively enrolled.

Objective: Fournier's gangrene (FG) is a rare, life-threatening necrotizing fasciitis primarily affecting the perineal, genital, and perianal regions. This rapidly progressing bacterial infection predominantly affects middleaged and elderly men. This multicenter study aims to describe the management in a wide cohort of Fournier's gangrene cases that presented to three tertiary centers with early extensive surgical debridement.

Advances in personalized medicine and Systems Biology have introduced probabilistic models and error discovery to cardiovascular care, aiding disease prevention and procedural planning. However, clinical application faces cultural, technical, and methodological hurdles. Patient autonomy remains essential, with shared decision-making (SDM) gaining importance in managing complex cardiovascular treatment options.

Purpose: The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of pelvic floor physical therapy (PFPT) on symptoms and quality of life in women who experienced third- and fourth-degree perineal tears (Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injuries, OASIS) during childbirth. OASIS can lead to anal incontinence and dyspareunia, having important implications regarding the quality of life and health of women but, unfortunately, there is no standard practice for postpartum care following OASIS.
Methods: In this retrospective observational study, patients diagnosed with OASIS between January 2016 and June 2023 were enrolled.

Lower respiratory tract infections are particularly frequent in hematological patients; their early diagnosis and the timely start of targeted therapy are essential. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) can provide a microbiological sample from the lower airways in a minimally invasive way. This study aimed to determine the diagnostic yield of BAL in hematological patients for microbiological purposes and its influence on modifying the therapeutic strategy.

COPD is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, so it represents a significant public health challenge. Over the years, new effective therapies have been proposed. However, the burden of COPD is still conditioned by frequent acute events defined as exacerbations (exacerbation of COPD-ECOPD), which have a significant impact not only on the patient's quality of life but also on the progression of the disease, morbidity, and mortality.

Trauma, particularly uncontrolled bleeding, is a major cause of death. Recent evidence-based guidelines recommend the use of a tourniquet when life-threating limb bleeding cannot be controlled with direct pressure. Prehospital hemorrhage management, according to the XABCDE protocol, emphasizes the critical role of tourniquets in controlling massive bleeding.
