Ethylene glycol toxicosis is a common occurrence in dogs and cats but has been reported in other species as well. Up to date, only one case of ethylene glycol toxicosis has been described in horses, and specific guidelines for treating ethylene glycol intoxication in this species are not available. Here we describe the case of 39 sport horses that ingested water contaminated with ethylene glycol.

: Cognitive deficits following ischemic stroke significantly impair quality of life, highlighting the need for effective interventions. This study evaluates the efficacy and safety of extended N-Pep-12 dietary supplementation in enhancing cognitive recovery post-stroke. : In this randomized, open-label, controlled study, 106 patients with supratentorial ischemic stroke were enrolled to receive either 90mg N-Pep-12 or no supplementation daily for 360 days and were followed-up for 360 days.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a complex neurodegenerative disorder characterized by diverse motor and non-motor symptoms. Visual evoked potentials (VEPs) provide valuable insights into the neurological changes in PD. This study examines VEP latency to explore potential connections between visual processing and PD progression, focusing on whether inter-eye latency differences are influenced by disease severity and symptomatology.

Background And Aims: "Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2" (SARS-CoV-2) is the name of the etiological agent of the pandemic Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) which was declared on March 11, 2020 by the WHO and which affected all countries of the world, including Romania. Our study aimed to evaluate the psycho-affective implications and economic consequences for dentists in Romania during the COVID-19 (Corona Virus Disease) pandemic state of emergency and their opinion on the patients' oral health impact.

Methods: A cross-sectional observational and analytical study based on a questionnaire was conducted.

Background: Ischemic stroke (IS) often leads to cognitive and motor impairments. This study aimed to investigate whether Memory-Guided Saccade Tasks (MGSTs) could be used to assess cognitive function in stroke patients.

Methods: A secondary data analysis was conducted on 62 individuals with supratentorial IS.

Chronic pain (CP) significantly impacts quality of life and poses an increasing economic burden on healthcare systems worldwide. This study investigates the relationship between blink rate during saccadic eye movements and pain perception in patients with CP. Ninety-two patients with CP (24 men, 68 women) were assessed using eye-tracking technology during horizontal and vertical saccadic tasks.

This secondary analysis of the CAPTAIN-RTMS trial data focused on the significance of quantitative electroencephalography (qEEG) indices as indicators of recovery in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI). By focusing on the delta alpha ratio (DAR), delta theta/alpha beta ratio (DTABR), and theta beta ratio (TBR), this study explored the shifts in brainwave activity as a response to an integrative treatment regimen of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) combined with the neurotrophic agent Cerebrolysin. Findings revealed significant increases in DAR and DTABR, suggesting changes in neurophysiological dynamics after treatment.

Parkinson's disease (PD) presents a significant clinical challenge due to its profound motor and cognitive impacts. Early diagnosis is crucial for implementing effective, stage-based treatment strategies. Recently, eye-tracking technology has emerged as a promising tool for the non-invasive diagnosis and monitoring of various neurological disorders, including PD.

: Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a rare, autoimmune skin condition characterized by painful, rapidly progressing ulcers, often associated with autoimmune dysregulation. Managing PG following breast surgery presents unique challenges due to its pathergy phenomenon, which complicates surgical interventions. This article outlines the case of PG in a 48-year-old female post-breast surgery and reviews management strategies through a systematic analysis of the literature.

Article Synopsis
  • People with rare neurological diseases (RNDs) often experience movement disorders, and a multidisciplinary rehabilitation approach, including telemedicine, can enhance treatment consistency and personalization.
  • A scoping review was conducted to analyze available literature on telerehabilitation and teleassessment interventions for movement disorders in RNDs, resulting in 18 relevant studies focusing on various technologies like wearable sensors and virtual reality.
  • Key findings indicated positive effects on gait, balance, and limb disability, but limitations such as small sample sizes and lack of standardized protocols were noted, highlighting the need for more rigorous research to improve remote rehabilitation and patient quality of life.

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) profoundly impact maternal and infant health, affecting women worldwide during pregnancy and postpartum. This review synthesizes current research on the neurobiological effects of PMADs, particularly their influence on brain structure, function, and corresponding cognitive, behavioral, and mental health outcomes in mothers. A literature search across PubMed, PsycINFO, and Google Scholar yielded studies utilizing neuroimaging (MRI, fMRI) and cognitive assessments to explore brain changes in PMADs.
