Gall wasp (Cynipoidea: Cynipidae and Diplolepididae) fauna of the Eastern Black Sea Region (Türkiye).

In the period between October 2017 and September 2019, field studies were conducted with the aim of elucidating the gall wasp (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae and Diplolepididae) fauna of the Eastern Black Sea Region (Northeastern Türkiye). Gall samples were collected from 695 different localities within the research area, comprising a total of seven provinces (Artvin, Bayburt, Giresun, Gümüşhane, Ordu, Rize and Trabzon). As a result of these investigations, a total of 90 species belonging to 18 genera were recorded.

Effect of Neurodevelopmental Treatment on fall risk and balance in children with spastic cerebral palsy: randomized controlled trial.

Aim: Investigating the effect of Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) on the risk of falling and balance in children diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (CP).

Methods: Participants were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. At baseline, the balancing skills of all participants was assessed using the Pediatric Balance Scale, and the gait parameters and fall risk was measured using the LEGSys.

Predictors of pouch failure and quality of life following ileal pouch-anal anastomosis for ulcerative colitis: a retrospective multicenter study.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the causes of failure after the ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) procedure for ulcerative colitis (UC) and to determine the independent risk factors affecting their quality of life.

Methods: This multi-center cohort study included all UC patients who underwent IPAA at nine referral centers in Türkiye from 2010 to 2018. Centers were categorized as high-volume (≥10 cases/year) or low-volume (<10 cases/year).

Reliability and validity of the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia in patients with traumatic hand-forearm injuries.

Objective: Fear of movement in patients with traumatic hand-arm injuries can negatively affect functional outcomes. Therefore, it is important to evaluate fear of movement in this patient population. The aim of this study was to investigate the validity and reliability of the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia in patients with traumatic hand-forearm injuries.

The predictive ability of Controlling Nutritional Status score on in-hospital mortality in patients admitted to coronary care unit.

Objective: Controlling Nutritional Status score was previously described and has been used in predicting short- and long-term outcomes in different patient populations. The aim of this study was to test the relationship between Controlling Nutritional Status score and in-hospital mortality in coronary care unit patients (MORCOR-TURK population).

Methods: In this multicenter and national study, all patients with an available Controlling Nutritional Status score were included in the analysis.

Beyond Borders, Beyond Bias: Unveiling Medical Xenophobia Among Resident Physicians in Türkiye.

Xenophobia among healthcare professionals can significantly impact the quality of care provided to immigrant and refugee populations, particularly in countries with high influxes such as Türkiye. This study evaluated xenophobia among resident physicians at Pamukkale University Hospital and identified factors influencing these attitudes. This cross-sectional study involving 271 resident physicians at Pamukkale University Hospital was conducted between August 1 and August 20, 2022.

Assessment of morin hydrate as a renal protective agent in rats subjected to methotrexate-induced nephrotoxicity.

Methotrexate (MTX) is a generally applied chemotherapeutic medicine in most cancers treatment. Morin hydrate, a robust antioxidant, is a secondary metabolite observed in numerous plants, along with figs, white mulberries, and others. The hypothesis of this study is that morin hydrate can effectively reduce MTX-induced kidney injury in rats by increasing antioxidant enzyme activity and inhibiting apoptotic processes.

Physical and psychological effects of neuromuscular integrative activity vs Pilates on sedentary females.

The aim of this study was to compare the effects of Neuromuscular Integrative Action (NIA) and Pilates exercises on physical fitness and psychological effects in sedentary women. The groups were randomly divided into Pilates (n = 22) and NIA (n = 21) groups using the closed envelope method. 43 sedentary women aged 20-45 years were included in the study.

Objective: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a chronic disease that can cause interstitial lung disease (ILD), a poor prognostic factor in SSc patients. Given the concerns over radiation exposure from repeated CT scans, there is a growing interest in exploring radiation-free imaging alternatives like MRI for ILD evaluation. The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy of three-dimensional zero echo time (3D-ZTE) MRI in assessing SSc-related ILD compared to the thin-slice chest CT.

Clinical and Metabolic Characteristics and Follow-Up Results of Adrenal Incidentalomas: A 10-Year Experience.

Objective: In this retrospective study, we aimed to investigate the clinical, hormonal, and radiological characteristics of patients with adrenal incidentalomas (AIs), to assess the prevalence of metabolic syndrome components in patients with AIs, and to determine whether changes in tumor size or hormonal activity occur during long-term follow-up in patients with AIs.

Methods:  We retrospectively analyzed data from 384 patients diagnosed with AI between 2010 and 2020. Data regarding radiological, hormonal, and metabolic investigations in diagnosis and also during follow-ups were collected.

Evaluation of children with acute central nervous system infections admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit and pediatric ward: a retrospective study.

Objectives: Acute central nervous system (CNS) infections in children can lead to neurological complications and mortality. This study aimed to identify the clinical manifestations, laboratory parameters, and cerebrospinal fluid characteristics indicative of CNS infections and define the risk factors that lead to pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) admission in the pediatric population of Şanlıurfa, a city in southeastern Turkey.

Methods: This retrospective analysis included patients aged 1 month to 18 years who were treated for acute CNS infections in the Şanlıurfa Training and Research Hospital between January 2020 and May 2023.

Retrospective analysis of hemophilia B in Turkey: identifying main characteristics and treatment options.

Background: Hemophilia B (HB), an X-linked recessive inherited bleeding disorder, exhibits a high prevalence among males.
