In 2018, Herwig Czech (2018, 2020) and Edith Sheffer (2018) accused Hans Asperger of complicity in the Nazi child euthanasia program also because of his participation in the Gugging Commission. We reviewed all documents related to the Commission to clarify Asperger's role. The Commission consisted of officials from Vienna and Lower Danube and had the primary task of determining which children admitted to Gugging could attend an auxiliary school.

A market study on sturgeon products in the Lower Danube countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine) resulted in a total of 149 samples of caviar and meat, which we subjected to genetic-isotope analyses. The samples comprised 31 samples (21%) of illegal wild-caught origin, 17 samples (11.4%) sold in violation of CITES and EU regulations, and 47 cases (32%) of consumer deception.

Sesquipedalian mud and burnt bricks (second to third century AD) were excavated from the Roman city of Romula located in the Lower Danube Region (Olt county, Romania). Along with local soils, bricks are investigated by petrographic analysis, X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), electron microscopy (SEM/EDX), X-ray microtomography (XRT), thermal analysis (DTA-TG), Mӧssbauer spectroscopy, magnetometry, colorimetry, and mechanical properties assessment. The results correlate well with each other, being useful for conservation/restoration purposes and as reference data for other ceramic materials.
