Background: Surgery stands as the cornerstone treatment for differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). After surgery, radioactive iodine (RAI) administration is primarily recommended for high-risk patients and commonly employed to address residual disease or mitigate the risk of recurrence. However, the optimal application of RAI in cases categorized as low to intermediate risk is still uncertain.

Background And Aims: One-fourth of colorectal neoplasia is missed at screening colonoscopy, representing the leading cause of interval colorectal cancer (I-CRC). This systematic review and meta-analysis summarizes the efficacy of computer-aided colonoscopy (CAC) compared to white-light colonoscopy (WLC) in reducing lesion miss rates.
Methods: Major databases were systematically searched through May 2024 for tandem-design RCTs comparing lesion miss rates in CAC-first followed by WLC vs WLC-first followed by CAC.

Background: Malignant Distal Biliary Obstruction (MBDO) is a common event occurring along the natural history of both pancreatic cancer and cholangiocarcinoma. Epidemiological and biological features make MBDO one of the key elements of the clinical management of patients suffering for of pancreatic cancer or cholangiocarcinoma. The development of dedicated biliary lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMS) is changing the clinical work up of patients with MBDO.

Smoking habits (from classic cigarettes to e-cigarettes and heated tobacco) are a relatively common finding in the medical histories of couples referred to fertility centers. Tobacco smoke and e-cigarettes may deliver many substances with known harmful effects on both general and reproductive health, including nicotine. Nicotinic Acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) form a heterogeneous family of ion channels that are differently expressed in different tissues.

Oral health is essential for both overall health and quality of life. The mouth is a window into the body's health, and nutrition can strongly impact the state of general and oral health. A healthy diet involves the synergistic effect of various nutraceutical agents, potentially capable of conferring protective actions against some inflammatory and chronic-degenerative disorders.

(1) Background: Ocular emergencies account for 1.5-3% of emergency department (ED) visits and require urgent diagnosis to prevent serious complications. Ultrasonography is a crucial, non-invasive diagnostic tool for these conditions but traditionally lacks portability and integration with modern electronic smart devices.

Consumption of high-fat diets (HFDs) is a contributing factor to obesity, insulin resistance and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Several studies suggested the protective role of bioactives present in fruits against the above mentioned chronic metabolic conditions. In this study, we evaluated if a flavonoid-rich extract of (bergamot) juice (BJe) could inhibit HFD-induced intestinal permeability and endotoxemia and, through this mechanism, mitigate the associated hepatic damage in C57BL/6J mice.

Glioblastoma (GBM) represents an aggressive brain tumor, characterized by intra- and inter-tumoral heterogeneity and therapy resistance, leading to unfavourable prognosis. An increasing number of studies pays attention on the regulation of ferroptosis, an iron-dependent cell death, as a strategy to reverse drug resistance in cancer. However, the debate on whether this strategy may have important implications for the treatment of GBM is still ongoing.

An association between type 2 diabetes (T2D) and breast cancer risk has been reported. This association can be potentially explained by alteration of the insulin/IGF system. Therefore, we aimed to prospectively investigate whether a previously reported Dietary-Based Diabetes Risk Score (DDS) inversely associated with T2D was also associated with breast cancer risk in the SUN ("Seguimiento Universidad de Navarra") cohort.

Green jobs are to be understood as those jobs directly associated with specific sustainability issues and activities related to the efficiency, quality and innovation of goods and services offered, from an eco-sustainability perspective. The objective of the research was to fill knowledge gaps of new and emerging environmental and occupational risks related to sustainable activities and to understand the impact these might have on workers' psychological and physical well-being. A selection of several scientific articles and a critical analysis of the selected articles was carried out from the perspective of defining the concept of "emerging occupational risks in green jobs," using different keywords in the title or abstract as search criteria.

Vaccination, particularly against pneumococcus and influenza, is a low-cost primary prevention, useful to avoid hard complications, particularly among frail older people. In this pilot study, we aimed to assess the effect of a strategy for influenza and pneumococcal vaccination for outpatients mainly affected by cognitive or endocrinological conditions, evaluating what could stimulate or demotivate vaccination among older people. This study was conducted during the 2023-2024 influenza season at the outpatient clinics in Palermo, Italy.

Fish oil, renowned for its high content of omega-3 fatty acids, particularly eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), has gained considerable attention for its potential health benefits. EPA and DHA exhibit anti-inflammatory effects by promoting the production of specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs), such as resolvins and protectins. Fish oil has been studied for its potential to reduce bronchial inflammation, a key feature of respiratory conditions like asthma and COPD.

Obesity is considered one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. The browning process has been recently recognized as a promising anti-obesity therapy. Lycopene (LYC) and fruit extract (GE) might be important resources for anti-obesity drugs; therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the anti-obesity effects of LYC and GE on 3T3-L1 adipocytes and Zucker rats.
