Surgical treatment of lung metastases originating from head and neck tumors has shown favorable outcomes with low incidence of complications and mortality. This study aims to investigate survival and prognostic factors following pulmonary metastasectomy for head and neck cancers. A comprehensive review of the literature was conducted through the Medline database, focusing on English-language studies related to surgical treatment of lung metastases from head and neck cancers.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a leading global health concern, with atherosclerosis being its principal cause. Standard CVD treatments primarily focus on mitigating cardiovascular (CV) risk factors through lifestyle changes and cholesterol-lowering therapies. As atherosclerosis is marked by chronic arterial inflammation, the innate and adaptive immune systems play vital roles in its progression, either exacerbating or alleviating disease development.

Despite dramatic medical advances over the last few decades, cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of death globally. High BP is clearly established, but modifiable, risk factor for early disability and death. Although most of the adverse outcomes occur in adulthood it has become clear that high BP is a life course problem that can become evident in early life however, relatively little attention has been paid to the problem of high BP in children and adolescents.

Paraneoplastic hypoglycemia, also known as non-islet cell tumor hypoglycemia (NICTH), is a rare but critical condition occurring in patients with different types of malignancy. This condition is commonly linked to tumors producing insulin-like growth (IGF) factors, particularly IGF-2 and its precursors, which disrupt glucose homeostasis and lead to excessive glucose consumption. The diagnosis typically involves documenting symptomatic hypoglycemia and ruling out other potential causes.

Bisalbuminemia is a rare, typically benign condition marked by the presence of a bifid albumin band on serum protein electrophoresis. It can either be inherited due to a point mutation or acquired in association with various medical conditions, most commonly diabetes mellitus. Bisalbuminuria, the presence of bifid albumin in urine, may or may not accompany bisalbuminemia.

Background: Chronic kidney disease is linked to a disturbed fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF23)-Klotho axis and an imbalance between myostatin and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) expression. This cross-sectional study investigates the association of the FGF23-Klotho axis and myokine profile with serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) and their interactions in pediatric patients.
Methods: Serum calcium, phosphorus, 25-hydroxyvitamin D, parathormone, c-terminal FGF23, a-Klotho, myostatin, follistatin, IGF-1, and IL-6 were measured in 53 patients with GFR < 60 ml/min/1,73m.

Background: Kidney transplantation (KTx) from small donors is associated with inferior graft survival in registry studies, whereas single-center studies show favorable results.
Methods: We compared 175 pediatric KTx from small donors ≤20 kg (SDKTx) with 170 age-matched recipients from adult donors (ADKTx) from 20 centers within the Cooperative European Paediatric Renal Transplant Initiative registry. Graft survival and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) were analyzed by Cox regression and mixed models.

Background: The use of nucleos(t)ide analogs (NAs) with a high genetic barrier to resistance, namely entecavir and tenofovir, has improved the efficacy of antiviral prophylaxis against hepatitis B virus (HBV) recurrence after liver transplantation (LT). However, the optimal duration and dosage of hepatitis B immunoglobulin (HBIG) administration, particularly in patients transplanted for HBV and hepatitis D virus (HDV) coinfection, remains controversial.
Methods: We evaluated 28 patients transplanted for HBV/HDV cirrhosis.

Approximately 12-72 million people worldwide are co-infected with hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis delta virus (HDV). This concurrent infection can lead to several severe outcomes with hepatic disease, such as cirrhosis, fulminant hepatitis, and hepatocellular carcinoma, being the most common. Over the past few decades, a correlation between viral hepatitis and autoimmune diseases has been reported.

Objectives: Since 2000, we anastomosed the saphenous vein graft to the right coronary artery system using the stump of the right internal thoracic artery as inflow. The long-term results of patients where the right coronary artery was grafted with the right internal thoracic artery or the ascending aorta as saphenous vein inflow has not been reported.
Methods: From 2000 to 2018, 699 consecutive patients had right internal thoracic artery elongated with saphenous vein (I-graft group, n = 358, 51.
