SFTs often present significant treatment difficulties, especially in cases of recurrence or metastasis, as systemic therapies typically show limited effectiveness. This report explores SIRT as an alternative therapeutic approach for SFTs with liver metastasis.

Purpose: To evaluate the association between the HER2 score as provided by the Oncotype DX Recurrence Score (RS) assay, tumor characteristics, and outcomes in early-stage, ER + HER2-negative breast cancer (BC).

The aim of this report was to comprehensively update on the genetic landscape of LS in the ethnically diverse Israeli-Jewish population. Assessing a Training Program for Integrative Medicine Practitioners in the Treatment of Acute Stress Disorder.

Study Objective: The study examined a training program for integrative medicine (IM) providers, teaching clinical skills for treating acute stress disorder (ASD).

Methods: A 10-h online training program, designed by IM and mental health professionals, was attended by a group of 32 IM providers working in supportive and palliative oncology care. The distribution of regions of homozygosity (ROH) among consanguineous populations-implications for a routine genetic counseling service.

Regions of homozygosity (ROH) increase the risk of recessive disorders, and guidelines recommend reporting of excessive ROH in prenatal testing. However, ROH are common in populations that practice endogamy or consanguinity, and cutoffs for reporting ROH in such populations may not be evidence-based. We reviewed prenatal testing results (based on cytogenetic microarrays) from 2191 pregnancies in the Jewish and non-Jewish populations of Northern Israel and estimated the prevalence of ROH according to self-reported ethnicity and parental relationships.

Memantine treatment in sickle cell disease: A 1-year study of its effects on cognitive functions and neural processing.

This study evaluates the neurocognitive and electrophysiological effects of 1-year memantine treatment in 14 adolescents and young adults (mean age 24 years) with sickle cell disease (SCD, incluing sickle cell anaemia and sickle cell β-thalassemia), hypothesizing improvements in cognitive functions and neural processing. Participants underwent assessments using subtests from the Wechsler Intelligence Scale and a computerized task-switching paradigm with concurrent event-related potential (ERP) recordings, both before and after the treatment period. Assessments focused on processing speed, working memory, attention and executive function.

Biologics in congenital ichthyosis: are they effective?

Background: Congenital ichthyoses (CI) comprise a heterogeneous group of genetic diseases requiring lifelong treatment and having a major effect on quality of life. Conventional treatments reduce scaling and skin discomfort; however, they usually have little or no effect on erythema and pruritus. The identification of cytokine alterations in CI raised the possibility of repurposing available biologics.

Steps Toward Decreasing Maternal Alcohol Consumption in Israel: Nationwide Trends During a Decade.

Objectives: Prenatal alcohol exposure poses a substantial risk to fetal development. Efforts were made in 2011-2020 to increase public awareness of and prevent alcohol consumption during pregnancy. We conducted a cross-sectional survey in Israel of pregnant women's alcohol consumption from January 2021 through June 2023 and compared our results with the results of a survey conducted during 2009-2010 to assess changes over time.

Near-sightedness, or myopia, is becoming more prevalent worldwide, but its etiopathogenesis is not fully understood. This review examines the potential protective role of green spaces in reducing myopia prevalence among children and adolescents, based on recent epidemiological studies from various countries. The studies consistently used the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) to quantify green space exposure.
