Engineering of scaffolds for bone regeneration is often inspired by the native extracellular matrix mimicking its composite fibrous structure. In the present study, we used low loadings of diatomite earth (DE) biosilica to improve the bone regeneration potential of gelatin electrospun fibrillar microenvironments. We explored the effect of increasing the DE content from 1 % to 3 % and 5 %, respectively, on the physico-chemical properties of the fibrous scaffolds denoted FG_DE1, FG_DE3, FG_DE5, regarding the aqueous media affinity, stability under simulated physiological conditions, morphology characteristics, and local mechanical properties at the surface.

In this 14th document in a series of papers entitled "" we discuss various aspects of EUS-guided biliary drainage that are debated in the literature and in practice. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiography is still the reference technique for therapeutic biliary access, but EUS-guided techniques for biliary access and drainage have developed into safe and highly effective alternative options. However, EUS-guided biliary drainage techniques are technically demanding procedures for which few training models are currently available.

Background: Sex differences (SDs) in pharmacology of cardiovascular (CV) drugs have been described previously; however, paradoxically, there are scarce recommendations in therapy based on these differences. It is of utmost importance to identify whether these SDs determine a modified clinical response and the potential practical implications for this, to provide a base for personalized medicine.
Area Of Uncertainty: The aim of this article was to outline the most important pharmacological drivers of cardiovascular drugs that differ between women and men, along with their implications and challenges in clinical practice.

Hybrid trials are a new trend in dermatological research that leverage mobile health technologies to decentralize a subset of clinical trial elements and thereby reduce the number of in-clinic visits. In a Phase I/IIa randomized controlled hybrid trial, the safety and efficacy of an anti-proliferative and anti-inflammatory drug inhibiting cytosolic phospholipase A2 (AVX001) was tested using 1%, 3% or vehicle gel in 60 patients with actinic keratosis (AK) and assessed in-clinic as well as remotely. Over the course of 12 weeks, patients were assessed in-clinic at baseline, end of treatment (EOT) and end of study (EOS), as well as 9 times remotely on a weekly to biweekly basis.

Background: Although many people infected with SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) experience no or mild symptoms, some individuals can develop severe illness and may die, particularly older people and those with underlying medical problems. Providing evidence-based interventions to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection has become more urgent with the potential psychological toll imposed by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Controlling exposures to occupational hazards is the fundamental method of protecting workers.

Background: Matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)1, MMP9, MMP11, and MMP13 are overexpressed in malignant melanoma (MM), being associated with tumor invasive phase, metastases, and more aggressive neoplastic phenotypes.
Aim: The main objective of the current study was to correlate the expression of the MMPs with the evolution of MM toward distant metastasis.
Patients, Materials And Methods: We designed a retrospective cohort study, including 13 patients with metastatic MM.
